Best discontinued anime that you wish came back

Who remembers rave master. It was scrapped for fairy tale. I personally think rave master was better. Do you know of any other anime/ manga that was discontinued but actually good? I know soul eater was scrapped for fire force, which was a good decision, soul eater was really mid. I have not had tge chance to read the rave master manga.

Blood lad was good it also ended abrutly which was quite sad. I really enjoyed the anime. It had good visuals, a good storyline etc.

Zom 100: Bucket list of the dead 😥

negativedreammachine2026-01-12 08:12

Wait it was discontinued ?😮

Slow-Management68502026-01-13 05:00

At least they put the team in other anime, and it was postponed indefinitely.

bbzef2026-01-12 10:11

nah that show fell off a cliff

Substantial_Town49472026-01-12 13:07

The scheduling delays killed the hype but it still a good show

bbzef2026-01-12 13:39

no the second half was legitimately super repetitive and weak

No_Rhubarb_19362026-01-12 07:18

I never heard of discontinued anime but I know that some anime weren’t finished because they didn’t have the funds to continue or they used up all the material/resources. But there is one that I wish they did a season 2 and that would be Astra Lost In Space

Lodju2026-01-12 07:23

>Astra Lost In Space

I was pretty satisfied how it ended though.

No_Rhubarb_19362026-01-12 22:59

When I was watching it, I was hoping season 2 would be available but something told me it didn’t happen. So when I finished watching it, I was satisfied that it ended how it should for an anime that has 1 season but the anime dweeb in me longs for more but when I looked it up, I was sad lol cause they had used up all the material for that season 😭😫

crispy_doggo12026-01-12 07:20

Magi, and it isn’t even close

EconomyProcedure92026-01-12 07:21

Drifters

Forsaken-Sale76722026-01-12 07:23

OPM, it’s really sad we never got anything after season 1

KingBadford2026-01-12 07:24

March Comes In Like a Lion will never get a third season even though the second season is universally praised as a masterpiece. Also, I'm pretty sure we're still waiting on another season of Haruhi.

A couple of obscure personal wishes are for The Executioner and Her Way of Life, More Than a Married Couple But Not Lovers, and Recovery of an MMO Junkie, but I'm pretty sure they all sold like crap so will never be picked back up.

Komorebi_LJP2026-01-12 07:30

A new Haruhi anime is coming. Its been leaked by the well-known 100% track record leaker.

MyNameIsNikNak2026-01-12 07:35

I’ve heard that before, I’ll believe it when I see it. Still, if I see it I’ll be the hypest I’ve ever been

Komorebi_LJP2026-01-12 07:39

SugoiLite on twitter, been follwing them for years. Very credible.
Its how I knew about the Historie anime for a long time before it was announced.

MyNameIsNikNak2026-01-12 07:41

Haruhi has gotten a leaked season announcement many times, and right now they don’t have too good of an LN release frequency to justify a season.

Trust me, I want it, but I’m going to have to see something official before I even let myself hope.

Komorebi_LJP2026-01-12 07:48

Not by SugoiLite. Its fine if you don't believe it.

This was their first Haruhi leak. Again I have been following them for years literally everything they leaked has come true.

They are the only leak account I trust

MyNameIsNikNak2026-01-12 15:15

No idea why I’m being downvoted for being skeptical. If you turn out to be right I’ll be thrilled.

Durinthal2026-01-12 19:05

> I have been following them for years literally everything they leaked has come true.

[Except when it hasn't.](/r/anime/comments/1q9vnq7/anime_questions_recommendations_and_discussion/nyydc89/)

Komorebi_LJP2026-01-12 20:52

I wasn't aware but even then I think their track record is extremely solid. Its still like 98% or so.

Especially with a big project as Haruhi, I doubt they are wrong.

Komorebi_LJP2026-01-12 07:25

Silver Spoon, a really great slice-of-life anime about a farming school by the author of FMAB. Had such a nice vibe.

Its sad it never got more after the second season and especially so because it feels anything the author does gets an anime adaptation.

beckychao2026-01-12 07:57

Silver Spoon is terrific!

SliderGamer552026-01-12 07:26

"I know soul eater was scrapped for fire force, which was a good decision, soul eater was really mid." ew

Plenty-Cricket97152026-01-12 07:27

Soul eater was mid you dont agrree?

Wavenstein12026-01-12 07:27

Claymore was dope

beckychao2026-01-12 07:59

Claymore is a classic. The manga is incredible. Unfortunately, the terrible, makeshift ending they gave the anime is literally impossible per the manga. To continue it would require starting over again. The Battle of Pieta turns into nonsense at its conclusion and there's no coming back from what they did.

Also, what they did to Raki's personality at the Battle of Pieta was catastrophic. He is the bravest character in the whole story. They broke him down and made him into a sniveling coward!

Deriniel2026-01-12 08:10

the issue is that they made an origianl ending, but tbh the manga ending wasn't that great either

ShotgunAndHead2026-01-12 07:29

Beelzebub. Had its last 10 episodes be basically all filler, and then an anime-original ending that cut that arc, and the anime as a whole, short.

DragonNikana2026-01-12 07:30

Accel world

0rangy2026-01-12 07:30

*Accel World* \- I know we got a couple of OVA episodes post-series. It feels like they were just scratching the surface with the different factions. Yeah, I know the author went on to do SAO, so maybe their creativity got sunk into that instead

BlinkerPhluid2026-01-12 07:30

Slayers... Might be I just can't find it but I used to love it

KingTranquilo2026-01-12 07:34

Gangsta

beckychao2026-01-12 08:03

Gangsta is my vote, too. Really great series, I didn't like the OP but it was a pretty interesting dive into sex trafficking and domestic violence, packaged into this story about these drug-fueled superhumans

Illya-Impregnator2026-01-12 07:34

Usagi Drop, like at least finish it ;-;

TerribleShiksaBride2026-01-12 07:43

....have you looked up how the manga ended?

nm, just noticed your username. Maybe you'd like that! But a lot of people would not.

jetteauloin_20802026-01-12 09:07

> nm, just noticed your username

Damn, what a terrible day to be litterate.

YES

AAAAAAAAA

AMAZING

negativedreammachine2026-01-12 08:03

I heard that manga is unfinished that's why they didn't make season 2 also the voice actress of anna died

beckychao2026-01-12 08:08

yeah

I know

And Miyu Matsuki's death was a huge blow, at first we heard it was randomly pneumonia, but since iirc it was said she had lymphoma or something, which is often lethal, on top of some rare disease

I don't even speak Japanese and just her crazy ass voice made me laugh (her and Satomi Arai lol)

negativedreammachine2026-01-12 08:11

Me really wish there was Shimoneta Season 2!!
But thank The Anime Gods cause we got GRAND BLUE season 2 before GTA 6.

Fools_Requiem2026-01-12 07:41

Anime doesn't get discontinued. If they start a season, it gets finished at some point, even if the episodes are pure trash.

divaaries2026-01-12 07:42

\- No Game No Life
\- Seraph of the End
\- Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash

beckychao2026-01-12 08:00

Grimgar was over the top with some of the fan service (which didn't fit the tone of the series, on that note), but it was excellent.

notreal0882026-01-12 07:42

I remember Rave master. It was on toonami for a bit. I loved the whole different sword abilities and the story itself. It’s a shame it got dropped for fairytail which is much more generic and less interesting overall.

Sad to know it never got a true end cause I was hoping to finish it one day

Demongodjess2026-01-12 10:20

Yea its so sad it got dropped cuz the creator wanted a more light hearted story. Only eps i like of fairytail is the ova cross over rave master x fairytale

Ponczo1232026-01-12 07:47

Soul Eater wasn't scraped in the place of Fire Force. Soul Eater was adapted but they didn't have enough manga material to finish it so they made original ending that many people didn't like. And people want properly adapted Soul Eater because everytime the topic of remaking anime is brought up many people write Soul eater as their first choice. I personally didnt like Fire Force but enjoyed Soul Eater especially the Manga part that wasn't adapted.

Specific-Word-59512026-01-12 07:49

Tenjou Tengen and Air Gear. Special shoutout to Baccano if/when Narita finish writing the LN.

beckychao2026-01-12 07:54

Gangsta, aside from the ridiculous op, it was a great story about surviving domestic abuse and sex trafficking, all while having great action

As long as the manga is complete then it doesn't bother me at all. It's more interesting for me to see how they adapt the source material than it is being 100% complete.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun I miss you every day.

soulreaverdan2026-01-12 13:11

Rokka: Braves of the Six Flowers ended on an insane cliffhanger given the story of the show and where the first season went. Sadly the novels have also been on hiatus for almost a decade now, so it's likely never getting any kind of resolution.

On a slightly more tragic note, High School of the Dead. Despite the absurd fanservice, there was a lot of great material of the characters dealing with the emotional and psychological effects of survivability in a zombie apocalypse. Sadly the writer Daisuke Sato passed away in 2017, and the artist for the series confirmed there's no plans to bring in someone else or try to continue the series after Sato's passing.
