Getting Back in Looking for Recs
I've been out of the anime scene since highschool (like 2017) and recently started watching dandadan and holy shit the animation is just so beautiful. I don't remember it being anywhere near this good like 8 years ago but I guess that makes sense. Show is cool and whatever but I'm just so blown away by the visuals.
What have I missed these last few years and what should I watch for some really pretty animation (good story is appreciated too)?
Examples of stuff I used to love: Monster, serial experiments lain, FMA
Very open to broadening my horizons for beautiful art or good music

Handy link to 2017 Winter (aka beginning of 2017), just click Next at the top or bottom to move on to the next season:

Slow to do this I know, but there's been so many great shows, you won't get them all recommended here anyway.
Some shows that don't look like much at first can surprise you too, though. Like Kemono Friends in 2017 Winter I just noticed. Terrible art, but it was so charming and unique it became an honest to god phenomenon at the time (and then Kadokawa ruined things afterward. :P), so maybe you'd like to watch it just to be "in the know".
Getting back to good art tho, you probably missed Cyberpunk Edgerunners in 2022 (based in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, of course), if that interests you..
Re:Creators was pretty wild (best damn recap episode ever, too. no joke. XD)
Shingeki no Bahamut sequel came out in Spring 2017. Not quite as good as the 1st season, but still a feast for the eyes.
Made in Abyss in summer 2017.
More recently, you may be interested in shows like Solo Leveling, Clevatess, Dead Dead Demon`s Dededededestruction, and Apocalypse Hotel.
etc etc...
