FINALLY

Ahenshihael2026-01-12 08:59

ohmygodohmygodohmygod

I am excited???!?!

PsychoGeek2026-01-12 09:00

So this means Love Cobra is something completely new and not Starlight related? That [X account](https://x.com/lovecobralove) hasn't updated so I would assume so. We're getting two Furukawa projects?

CosmicPenguin_OV1032026-01-12 09:01

Is he still working on it? It's been like, what, 5 years since Furukawa announced it?

PsychoGeek2026-01-12 09:04

New originals take a lot of time in pre-prod. Furukawa has been occasionally posting about it on his [x account](https://x.com/TOPPY1218) which still lists Love Cobra and other industry people have been occasionally hyping it up so I wouldn't assume it's been cancelled. But it could be stalled or in development hell idk.

moichispa2026-01-12 14:43

oh he has a twitter now. I remember people talking about his blog posts like some sort of ancient technology.

PsychoGeek2026-01-12 09:22

Judging by Furukawa's [posts](https://x.com/TOPPY1218/status/1970929760932069745) and his ❤️🐍 posting he's definitely actively working on Love Cobra. Dunno whether he's involved in this Stalight project - he hasn't acknowledged it yet - but I imagine Love Cobra is his priority for now. Love Cobra is also trending on Japanese X so it's a hot topic of discussion it seems.

we are going to the next station

Peak is returning!🥹

evanieCK2026-01-12 09:10

hope this is more of a spinoff than a sequel- the movie seemed pretty straightforward about being intended to be the "ending" of the 99th girls story as it relates to Revue Starlight. Would be fine if it's a new cast with maybe occasional cameos from the OG cast but i straight up do not want a continuation that tarnishes how perfect that finale was.

Ahenshihael2026-01-12 09:41

Even beyond the movie the visual novel was already as epilogue as it can get.

Calwings2026-01-12 10:18

I totally agree. As hyped as I am for more Revue Starlight content (I am ***VERY*** hyped) I hope this isn't a sequel to the 99th Seisho class's story because the movie was such an amazing finale that I don't want it diminished by a sequel. Whether it's a new Seisho class, any of the other schools from the mobile game, or whatever, a spin-off starting a new story would be much better than sticking with the 99th Seisho class.

oedipusrex3762026-01-12 10:40

It’s probably a new group of girls. 99-gumi’s story has already ended, and the *El Dorado* VN feels like the last thing they could milk from them before moving on. Plus, the official YouTube channel posted that limited-time (not available anymore) reunion scene from the VN. It’s basically fanservice for RevStar fans showing them all back together post-graduation.

Edit: Maybe I’m wrong about this one. It says Series Sequel (シリーズ続編). "Starlight" is the Project Name / IP Name of Revue Starlight, if they were actually starting a new project with a new cast, they’d probably call it something like "Revue Love Cobra" instead.

AliceinTeyvatland2026-01-12 09:13

WHAT?! NO WAY!

Battlefire2026-01-12 09:14

Yona of the Dawn Season 2, Wandering Witch Elaina Movie, and now this. It is a good time to be an anime fan.

Le_Herpington2026-01-12 09:24

Yooooooooo I have been feasting recently.

This is by far my favorite franchise when it comes to original anime music. I cannot believe we're getting more content.

No one does it like Rev Star. Wakarimasu 🦒

REVUE STARLIGHT MY BELOVED WELCOME BACK

cppn022026-01-12 10:05

Holy shit. That's unexpected.

Definitely excited for more Revue Starlight.

YThrowawayJ2026-01-12 10:07

Holy shit and it's not love cobra!

CosmicPenguin_OV1032026-01-12 10:16

I am actually unsure if this is NOT *Love Cobra* (or vice versa) - hopefully Director Furukawa can clarify soon.

corner_twist2026-01-12 10:13

What the hell! Take all my money

VoidEmbracedWitch2026-01-12 10:15

We are so back

zackphoenix1232026-01-12 10:19

I have never seen this work before, all I know is that it has *sooooooooooooooo* many yuri doujins.

Calwings2026-01-12 11:49

Watch the first TV anime and then the sequel movie if you get the chance. It's an amazing series.

Teath1232026-01-12 10:22

I'm very torn, because the movie was such a perfect send off I'm not really sure I want more of the girls specifically. If they can do another class, I'm more onboard.

Ahenshihael2026-01-12 10:29

There are revue starlight musicals on other schools they can tackle for this if they want to like the whole [Siegfield Institute's Junior Class thing ](https://youtu.be/YITlXR3VJzU)

Erufailon42026-01-12 10:41

I knew that Revstar is still popular, there was just recently a new EP too, but I wasn't expecting a new anime especially now that both director Furukawa and assistant director Koide are working on their own projects. ~~(Unless this *is* Love Cobra...?~~ *Edit: it's not.*) Should still have some of the same DNA even if those two are busy.

As much as I love the characters of the 99th class, I kinda hope this will touch on the other groups that appear in the stage plays and games, since those have a higher barrier of entry.

Psychic_Fire2026-01-12 10:47

I’m just happy to get a new anime (as much as I love the stage plays they’re not always the easiest to watch online or convince ppl to get into) but I would love if they adapted the stories of the other schools now that Relive shut down. It would be hard with Tamao’s seiyuu stepping away from anything “idol” related however.

And if they want to focus on Seisho still then I would love to see the first years they introduced in the stage plays

Shau1a2026-01-12 11:08

Thanks to pachinko profits, this gets made. Let’s thank Japan’s gamblers.

b0bba_Fett2026-01-12 13:35

Never seen it before, but [](#wakarimasu) nonetheless.

VelaryonAu2026-01-12 13:37

And it shall be bestowed upon you, the Star which you have longed for. AHHHHH im so happy but so curious what direction they can possibly take this in.

petrifikate2026-01-12 13:50

Do we know if this will focus on the 99th class or not? Based on the mobile game and stage plays as well as how the movie & vn end, it would make more sense to focus on the Siegfield middle schoolers instead of our main girls.

RecRoulette2026-01-12 13:51

Automatically there day one.

Like what other people said between the movie and the game the entire story of the 99th class seems completely done done. But I'm excited for this no matter what it is.

moichispa2026-01-12 14:45

NO WAYYYYY

I hope we're getting something good, the movie is a masterpiece.

~~I can't help but notice the bad English, I wish they had a translator on the company for this stuff~~

theshinycelebi2026-01-12 15:14

HOLY SHIT. Might be the first good news of the year so far for me.

Really happy about this. Revue Starlight is a fantastic anime that should get more recognition. Hopefully this new project brings more fans in.

No_Return94492026-01-13 04:20

HOLY. FUCKING. SHIT.

You will not believe this, but [I have the texts to my friend right afterward to prove it](https://imgur.com/a/imc9Qno).

**Muneki Ogasawara, the head of Kinema Citrus, told me "there's more to come" at Anime Central 2024.**

I'm just some rando fan who wanted autographs on my Revue Starlight boxset. [Director Takushi Koide](https://imgur.com/i5IVtrf) and [storyboarder Takehiro Kubota](https://imgur.com/HBooPJn) had signed, but when I got to Ogasawara on the end, he motioned to his translator. He spoke to her for a few seconds while he signed. "He said he likes your shirt," she told me. (I was wearing a cheap T-shirt with a print of the Revue Starlight giraffe.) "And he said he wants you to know there's more to come."

I was so floored I forgot to take his picture. I was a flurry of "Thank you"s and "Arigatou"s on the way out of the room.
