More Sports Anime Like Blue Lock?

Looking for more sports anime with a tone like Blue Lock where it's more intense on the same levels as Blue Lock rather than say Haikyuu or Free. Some other sports anime I've watched are Baki, Kuruko no Basket, Inazuma Eleven, Hinomaru Sumo and Hajime no Ippo.

Hi Beginning-Analysis-5, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

brother i know it's a matter of opinion, but haikyuu is a million percent more intense than blue lock.

Edit: lest we forget [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iby7PLeVUBs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iby7PLeVUBs)

Oh I like Haikyuu, I just mean consistently intense. I feel like most sports anime like Haikyuu, Yuri on Ice, and Free have a more casual tone that fit the highschool vibes until the matches. I just want more consistently absurd kids that wanna beat eachother.

The only ones I can think of off top are kurokos basketball and prince of tennis maybe? Megalobox is higher stakes but not over the top like blue lock

Falsus2026-01-13 04:06

Umamusume Cinderella Grey for sure. And the movies.

It is just insane.

Kil-Xia-Max2026-01-13 04:07

Keijo....yeah, I said it, its great.

Beginning-Analysis-52026-01-13 04:08

Y'know what I respect the honesty

fer_sure2026-01-15 18:52

Correction: Keijo!!!!!!!!

And I agree, it is great.

They're films rather than shows but both The First Slam Dunk and 100 Metres are both really good.

Free! And Burning Kabbadi are sports animes. They are not as good as the ones you've watched and I don't think they're finished but I think they're worth giving a shot

conanwongmkii2026-01-13 04:20

You could go old school and watch Ashita no Joe.

ChrissyDoesArt2026-01-13 04:24

I hear a lot of people compare One Punch Man season 3 to Blue Lock

Beginning-Analysis-52026-01-13 04:27

I'm trying to go a rank up, not a rank down

lztsrts2026-01-13 04:32

I feel like Ping Pong is way more intense than Blue Lock, but the intensity you're looking for is probably more along the lines of Uma Musume.

I liked all Uma Musume shows, but Cinderella Gray is the best animated one so might want to start with that one.

Beginning-Analysis-52026-01-13 04:34

Hence why I said tone, but I've played the gacha and seen some clips. Is there any benefits to going from first show to newest movies/show or should I just start wherever? Like are there any "Hey remember this?" moments

lztsrts2026-01-13 04:42

> Is there any benefits to going from first show to newest movies/show

Always follow the release order as far as i'm concerned (cause i don't see why not), but you don't have to in this case. Cinderella Gray takes place before Pretty Derby chronologically, but it doesn't really matter.

Cinderella Gray is better than Pretty Derby for sure. Both are better than Blue Lock.

Major was pretty intense.
I liked capeta too but its been more than 10 years since I watched it. Idk if it aged or not

Ginsan-AK2026-01-13 05:17

Ace of Diamond

United_Atmosphere4442026-01-13 05:55

Captain tsubasa was also good. For more intense matches. Might be worth skipping the first season. But it's still an OG

Cyd_arts2026-01-13 12:10

Prince of tennis maybe, esp when we get to the tournaments

CuriousBroccolli2026-01-14 01:24

Hanebado or UmaMusume maybe?

kaushik04082026-01-14 13:46

I'll say aoashi. The vibe is different than blue lock but it is better than bl imo. Good story and characters

whatverforever2026-01-17 14:04

Major. Or eyeshield 21

One out

Not a lot of super powers involved but I enjoyed these sports anime.
