Sky Crawlers, is it worth it?

Just came across a clip from a dogfight in the movie and I'm kinda hooked from it. Only problem is, is that it's not included in any streaming service so I'd have to pay to watch it. Does anybody know where I'd be able to watch it for free or should I just buy it and watch?

Hi Klutzy-Green-7585, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

If you've seen and enjoyed other works by Mamoru Oshii, then you'll almost certainly enjoy it as well.

I liked it for what it is. I kinda wish there were more. Either a series or a sequel.

There's a prequel video game by the Ace Combat team (that also has a manga) and the movie adapts from a series of novels if you haven't checked them out.

Oh I was not aware!

Solid film and has a video game prequel by the Ace Combat team that's worth picking up.

Any clue as of where I could go to watch it without renting or buying?

wubbbalubbadubdub2026-01-13 06:06

We aren't allowed to share the sorts of websites where you can watch it free here.

Klutzy-Green-75852026-01-13 06:07

Oh, it's *that* kind of anime? Or is it just that it's only only yar sites?

wubbbalubbadubdub2026-01-13 06:09

Yar sites, it's not hentai, as far as I'm aware there's no ban on discussing 18+ content here so long as NSFW tags are used.

It is very...to put it delicately "deliberately paced" during the scenes that take place on the ground. I think it posed interesting ideas, artistically speaking, but found it more boring than entertaining to actually watch. YMMV. There's certainly people who love it. My own patience for that kind of thing had expanded in the nearly two decades since I saw it, so I kind of think I might like it more if I rewatched it now. Still, at the time I kind of *respected* it, but I didn't *like* it.

I think it's the best thing Mamoru Oshii has done, so take that how you will.

Very underrated. Great film
