It is the opposite, these lists are ordered by amount of plays and nothing else. OPs that come out in the start of the year get to rake in views till the end of the year while Fall shows have to rush to catch up.
Iris Out still eclipses everything else and that's despite being attatched to a movie and not a show so no full 3 months of relevance at the top nor does it get a chance to grow on people like most OPs do. The song had some crazy stats, fastest japanese song to hit 100M on youtube and a bunch of other things.

Actually, it's ordered by **peak** popularity score, not total plays. So there shouldn't be a bias no matter what time of year the song came out, except I guess the luck of the draw as to how many other popular tracks there were out competing against it at its peak.

Just noticing that the average under the peak score is average since release. Would probably make more sense to move that under Current Score, because my initial read was that the listed average was at the peak time, not over its history.
It's also a stat that kind of inherently favors more recent songs as they've been at the height of their popularity for a greater percent of their lifetime.

I wonder how much their 'Anime Now' public playlist contributes to this, as it gains more popularity and is promoted more often. Nearly all of the songs on the OP's chart match up to what this playlist placed as the first few songs for their respective cours. I'm not sure if it's dynamic or curated, but the top few spots don't change until the next cours, unless there's a big mid-season release like the Demon Slayer movie and Chainsawman movie to shake things up.

Don't really see anyone bringing up ReawakeR here but holy SHIT I fuck with that song so goddamn hard, and I'm not even that into Solo Levelling. I like it a lot better than LEveL, which is surprising since I'm normally such a sucker for Sawano (Inertia is definitely my most listened to song of the entire year). I think that one was held by by its weird English lyrics. That said both of them need to stop cutting out into a fadeout to silence at the end of the TV versions, LEvel it makes for a neat effect but ReawakeR should've just spliced in the full song ending instead of splicing in the extra "Cuz I'm back in this game" part to build up the moment further but then going back to the first verse ending which doesn't get resolved, cuz it feels like the energy just HANGS SO BAD.
Speaking of English lyrics, I was today years old when I discovered there's a full-English verison of ReawakeR which is pretty cool even if I think the original mixed EN/JP sound better.

Actually, it's ordered by **peak** popularity score, not total plays. So there shouldn't be a bias no matter what time of year the song came out, except I guess the luck of the draw as to how many other popular tracks there were out competing against it at its peak.
(What exactly "popularity score" means, only Spotify knows, I think.)
