Hi /r/anime! I'll be hosting a rewatch [starting next week](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1q5wk1d/welcome_to_demon_school_irumakun_official_rewatch/) for seasons 1-3 ahead of season 4 starting in April. If this clip got you interested in watching the show for the first time or in rewatching the show before new content comes out, I'd be more than happy to have you along for the ride!

This is kind of tempting but I don't think I have time to rewatch the episodes fresh this season. On the other hand I did my first watch through over the Winter break and loved it, since that was pretty recent so I may lurk in the rewatch threads and comment on the episodes I really loved (which were a lot of them to be fair).
Shimmering-Sky2026-01-13 15:55
> so I may lurk in the rewatch threads and comment on the episodes I really loved (which were a lot of them to be fair).
That's totally fair! You can also lurk for my wallpapers too since I have some good ones in mind for this show. The character designs being so *colorful* make them fun to work with.

When he finally starts using his bloodline ability, he will put the moves on iruma.
HoneZoneReddit2026-01-13 15:32
Ah yes before Asmodeus was a complete SIMP for Iruma
Shlurmen2026-01-13 15:57
This is such a good fucking show.
Ok-Paramedic36052026-01-13 20:32
it really is. Better My Hero imo
False_Baby86282026-01-13 22:58
I really dislike all these comparisons, the shows are quite different in their focus so I dont see how you could say one is better or worse.
ambulance-kun2026-01-14 03:29
I kinda understand because this anime came out while Mha was still in its "riddled with terrible fanbase" era, it's an easy punching bag for similar themed shows. Now that MHA has ended and the hype died down, people can watch both shows for what they are.
SSJ5Gogetenks2026-01-14 06:52
They're very different shows overall, but the main point of comparison and the reason this comes up so often is because it's much better at the 'superpowered school' idea that, well, isn't really core to My Hero after the first couple of seasons, but is at least in the title!
Galle_2026-01-14 07:11
It's not so much that it's *better* than MHA as it is that it's what a lot of people wanted MHA to be.
Ok-Cod52542026-01-14 19:29
Ya'll can't talk about Iruma-kun without bringing up MHA. lol
dagreenman182026-01-13 20:50
And a great manga. This series deserves more hype
darth_the_IIIx2026-01-13 23:28
It’s very hyped in Japan at least, just not so much overseas
Galle_2026-01-14 00:23
The manga has quietly gone from "man, this is surprisingly good" to "this is my favorite currently running shounen" to "this is an all-time masterpiece and Osamu Nishi is the rightful Queen of Shounen" for me. The anime is mostly just a decent adaptation of incredible source material but I'm definitely hyped for season 4.
darth_the_IIIx2026-01-14 08:17
The anime adaptation is quite good I'd say, season 4 will show if it's just a decent or great adaptation though.
Everything that's been adapted in season 1-3 is good, but season 4 onwards are when iruma get's pretty consistently peak, and also mostly finalizes it's (very good) art quality.
The anime will definitly need to work hard to do it justice
Galle_2026-01-14 08:22
I'm of the opinion that Iruma-kun first becomes really good at the Harvest Festival, so the fact that wasn't necessarily received the best by anime-onlies does have me worried.
Also, in general, the anime is clearly aiming for a younger version audience than the manga. That isn't necessarily a dealbreaker, but it's worth noting.
darth_the_IIIx2026-01-14 08:38
The harvest festival is good, but there's a pretty big visual improvement between it and the music festival. Hopefully the anime matches that improvement as well.
RealMr_Slender2026-01-13 16:14

When was the last time we saw that girl who is obsessed with Iruma but is too shy to talk to him?
dagreenman182026-01-13 20:58
She mostly shows up in the Sukima bits, but we did see her last season.
OK_Cartoonist49562026-01-13 17:33
wish people would stop calling show an isekai it's not
Certain_Strawberry772026-01-13 21:41
Ehh I think it counts. He’s from modern Japan and is transported to another world full of magic, demons, monsters, etc. Guess I’d consider it an isekai the same way Dante’s Inferno is one
twilightfan338782026-01-13 22:28
it is 100% an isekai by definition. you cannot argue that. wikipedia definition of isekai:
> Isekai (Japanese: 異世界; transl. 'different world', 'another world', or 'other world') is a sub-genre of fiction. It includes novels, light novels, films, manga, webtoons, anime, and video games that revolve around a person or people who are transported to and have to survive in another world, such as a fantasy world, game world, or parallel universe, with or without the possibility of returning to their original world
there is a lot of isekai anime that i find bland and bad out there. i get wanting to not associate something you love with those examples. but mairimashita! iruma-kun is absolutely an isekai. so much of the plot revolves around the fact that he is a human and if he wants to return to the human world. he is literally transported to a demon world.
there are many great stories that are isekais. the wizard of oz. spirited away. digimon adventure is absolutely an isekai.
something can be an isekai and also be really good. mairimashita! iruma-kun is leagues and leagues above a lot of really mediocre isekai-branded shows that fall into boring tropes and power fantasies. i adore this show. it is also an isekai.
False_Baby86282026-01-13 23:01
But it IS an isekai. Not to say that its the normal "isekai" style of plot, but thats just cause iruma is that great and unique, the iseaki tag essentially only means "someone transferring to another world" its the lack of originality that is stuck to this genere is whats ruining its name. The same way you could say alice in wonderland is an isekai.
Galle_2026-01-14 00:24
I mean, you can debate it. It's not part of the isekai genre that emerged in the past decade or so, but it does use the isekai plot device.
DamonSchultz9972026-01-13 17:41
This show once used to air live on muse Asia with cautious hero. Back in 2018 or 2019 i think.... Man i gave absolutely zero shits about everything else except those two shows back then.
BorderKeeper2026-01-13 18:10
I watched this when it aired and found it a boring show where nothing happens, but then I gave it another chance later, fell in love with it immediatelly, and went through all seasons in a week. I adore Iruma and all the characters, especially the student head who has a crush on him.
Shimmering-Sky2026-01-13 18:14

Btw I decided to check your MAL and I love how you have to add the detail if you cried watching it or not lol :D (honestly it is a good metric) and boy aren't you a gundam freak.
Shimmering-Sky2026-01-13 18:21
> I love how you have to add the detail if you cried watching it or not lol :D
Haha yeahhhhhh, I cry at basically anything remotely sad, so I decided to keep track of the ones that did it to me in some way. A few shows with the tag got that out of me by simply making me laugh so hard I cried, though.
>and boy aren't you a gundam freak.
Guilty as charged haha. It's the series that made me realize I'm a mecha fan, and I'll forever have a soft spot for Unicorn in particular since it *was* my #1 anime for nearly 6 years & is also what started my "sore demo" hunt. [](#mechablush)

If no one has seen the mafia alternate universe version of this manga, please do. I dare say it's even better than the original if you're looking for a bit more bite in the story. Also opera gets more screen time <3

Couldn't even make it through the first episode of season two.. maybe I'm just too old.

Man, imagine if Iruma and Hayate from Hayate the Combat Butler were to ever meet.
They would likely chat and share what they have in common: hardship from having untrustworthy parents.
