I've only watched FF Season 1 so I'm hoping back in thinking I'll catch up for the new stuff. But Season 2 is about to convince me to stop drop and roll this whole show into the bin.

From season 1 my perception of the show was that it was a post apacoplyse world, rebuilt to modern times. It's led by a Catholic-esk religious world that's clearly not revealing the truth to the people. And fire fighters who use fire magic, fight fire monsters and an evil cult. Long winded but basically that tells you the rules of the world.

Now in S2 I'm currently watching the characters on a different contentent/island and they just introduced 1. monsters that aren't related to fire at all, so apparently that's a thing. 2. Talking sentient animals, bc why not. 3. And fire monsters can talk now too. We'd seen a single fire monster talk in S1, very dramatically, but now there is a literal cult of them and they're religious morons. Um hello, we already have a cult of bad guys at home and they're written pretty well, and we already have a manipulative religious faction too.

This whole sequence feels like the Bount Arc in Bleach, just awful, terribly filler written by someone who got a brief synopsis of the show and was told "Just do whatever. We'll even put you on a different island so any rules you break or lore you fuck can be explained as a cultural difference."

So tell me Fire Force fans, is this the direction I should expect the show to continue in?
