My friend’s recommendations didn't work out. Here is what I actually liked—any suggestions?
My friend gave me a list of anime to watch, but our tastes are quite different. Honestly, I only liked a few of them, such as:
One Punch Man
The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.
Hunter x Hunter
ZENSHU
Fullmetal Alchemist
Charlotte
Handa-kun
I tried searching for shows on my own, but to be honest, most of what I found was really weird, and I couldn't bring myself to finish them.

Your picks seem to have some element of action so there's the mainstream standbys like JJK, Chainsaw Man, Demon Slayer.
If you want an action one that is more bright and light hearted I would try Shangri-la Frontier it only has 2 seasons out so not complete
Didn’t Hero end at 170 episodes? That would make it longer than Hunter 2011.
I gave them a fair chance, but I found most of them either too slow or just boring. Some of the plot points felt illogical to me, and the long-running series felt like too much of a drag. I prefer shows that get to the point or have a more consistent pace.
Attack on Titan
Solo Leveling
Jujutsu Kaisen
Chainsaw Man
Demon Slayer
Vinland Saga
Death Note
Cyberpunk Edgerunners
___
These shows more or less get straight to the point and have some consistent action and pacing throughout
That said, based on what you liked, here are what I'll recommend.
Sousou no Frieren
Code Geass
Mob Psycho (same creator as One Punch Man)
Jorgumand
Saga of Tanya the Evil
I actually liked Bleach, but he told me I should read the manga instead because he thinks the anime adaptation isn't that good
Attack on titan
Solo leveling
Is there a specific genre you like or open to anything?

It's amazing what happens when you help us help you.
What were the weird ones? What made them weird to you? What others did he suggest you didn't like that morning this list?
On the other hand, I really enjoyed Hell Girl (until the MC changed), Flame of Recca, Nura, and ACCA: 13. I’m looking for more shows like these—cool action and clear plots, but with a good pace.
From stuff I just like that you might, Space Dandy, a Shiro Watanabe (Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo) show that's mostly a sci-fi action comedy with some pretty artsy episodes sprinkled in. It also has a pretty good dub.
Another show I can't recommend enough is Odd Taxi, it's pretty character driven and is relatively grounded, but it's got great vibes and keeps you interested with a central mystery and learning more about all the characters.
Also as others have said Mob Psycho 100. It's the same writer as One Punch Man, but it basically does One Punch Man better. Its similar in that it has a wildly OP main character, but he's super insecure because his OP psychic powers don't help him be any less of a shy kid at school. Mob and Reigan are just far more interesting characters than anyone in One Punch Man and I highly recommend it. It is a bit longer at 3 cour, but it is a complete adaptation and absolutely worth it.
Oh, and if you want stuff that's pure comedy, Konosuba, Asobi Asobase, Daily Lives of High School Boys, and Grand Blue are my favorites of those.
Mon Psycho 100
Tiger & Bunny
Angel Beats
Clannad
Dragon Ball + Dragon Ball Z
Deca-Dence
Sakamoto desu ga?
Magi
Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun
Uramichi Oniisan
Made in Abyss
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Pluto is kinda unusual because the episodes are quite long (made from the start as an ONA so it didn’t have to conform to normal episode lengths), but it is so well paced and interesting throughout.
Everyone should watch Pluto.
A personal favorite I try to recommend a lot is Romantic Killer. A girl just wants to play video games, pet cat, and chill, but a diabolical fairy tries to force her into various stereotypical romance encounters. Like an absolute champion she finds ways to turn things in a different direction. It’s really really funny.
ODD TAXI is an easy recommendation as a tight, self-contained series where everything comes together beautifully at the end.
Definitely try Kaguya-sama: Love is War.
Gosick
Since you prefer shorter anime, this one is perfect at just 24 episodes the story is great and the fights are absolutely epic but the best part? The ending. It’s honestly one of the most 'wholesome' and happy endings I’ve ever seen. Everything wraps up so perfectly for the characters, it'll leave you with a huge smile on your face. Highly recommended!
