Key difference here is that this series is a "the couple starts dating in the first chapter" series, not a "will-they-won't-they" series that delays forming the couple as long as possible.
Instead of a dense idiot boy completely oblivious to romance, Kyougi is very into Kanan and their relationship. He's *still* a dense idiot, but it's a fun spin on the archetype because the only thing he's dense about is the fact that he's almost inexplicably unaware that he's dating *an actual demon* and not a normal high school girl who has a roleplay fetish.

That's what I thought too but I started a re-read and those characters show up in [manga chapter number] >!32: Kyougi Meets The Family!< which would be easy for a single-season adaptation to reach given how short the chapters are. And at least [one chapter] >!the piss one!< is extremely weirdly out of pocket and could be skipped.

I really, really hope they've punched up Kyogi's design. My one and only real gripe with that series is that he looks like a sketch of a ken doll. For all of the attention given to the designs of the other characters, for Kyogi it's like they just went with the placeholder art.
