That's pretty cool.
Can't really remember much about the show but i do remember enjoying it so getting more content is a good thing.

Played the game of this. Found it funny that the best guide on how to play it is the official agricultural documents on how they grow rice. If you play the game you can honest to Kami-sama learn how to grow and prep rice.
borkthegee2026-01-14 13:10
I feel like understanding the agriculture can get you a decent result but ultimately if you want to really do well, there's a few reddit guides on how to basically min/max the agriculture, fertilizer, etc.
It's kind of like Madden/sports games where on the surface, knowing the sport actually does help you get better. But if you want to get _really_ good, the game actually is still a game and you have to stop thinking about realism and start thinking about the specific constraints on the engine and simulation and how best to manipulate them.
Which, ultimately, I don't recommend unless it's a subsequent playthrough. The magic of Sakuna is just leaning into the beautiful world and agriculture and getting lost in the seasons and in nature. I found the game so beautiful. I may be a minority but I don't care about platforming and combat much. Instead I absolutely adored enjoying the seasons, tending rice, and making lovely little meals for my found family every night. The game really had an impact on me (even when I wasn't using calculators to make perfect rice)

They also did a Sakuna crossover with another game, Rune Factory:Guardians of Azuma, where Sakuna is free DLC.

I remember a video by Gaijin Goombah where he talked about that.
Pretty nice to see a game that's like "Okay, if you wanna Git Gud, you need to develop real-life skills."
abandoned_idol2026-01-15 03:26
I played the game and watched the anime.
Didn't finish either.
It's a shame that I didn't find the primary gameplay loop fun.
I'm so frustrated.

This was one of my favourite shows in Summer 2024, criminally underrated in my opinion
baquea2026-01-14 10:57
This is the first time I've even heard of it lol
Kartoffelkamm2026-01-14 18:48
It's pretty good, although it's very obvious that it's based on a game.
XRotNRollX2026-01-14 11:20
I know they announced a second season, is that still on or is this what we're getting instead?
HowToGetName2026-01-15 00:55
[Probably.](https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2024-11-14/sakuna-of-rice-and-ruin-anime-gets-sequel-spinoff-game-about-kokorowa-smartphone-game/.217869) It was announced as a sequel and the spinoff game is also about Kokorowa.
XRotNRollX2026-01-15 06:27
AniList replaced the sequel with the OVA, so this might be all they make, but I'm kinda hopeful they'll give us a full season if they make the full Kokorowa game.
theGRAYblanket2026-01-15 08:22
Does the first season cover the entire game?
XRotNRollX2026-01-15 08:24
I think so, I actually haven't played it.
Bigbadbobbyc2026-01-15 14:37
First season covers the entire game, but kind of rushes the very end, the second season will likely cover the sequel manga and this show is a side series following a different character
JoelMahon2026-01-14 11:20
I enjoyed most of this one, although there were a couple dragging episodes a little after the mid point iirc, but it's a well know rule of human psychology that our impression of something usually biases heavily on the start and end and the middle kinda gets forgotten 😅
mr_beanoz2026-01-14 11:59
A Kokorowa special? Interesting, I wonder what kind of story will we have.
DevilReturns1232026-01-14 12:02
Is that the rune factory: guardians of azuma dlc character sukuna?
Kartoffelkamm2026-01-14 18:49
According to another commenter, yes.
zenithfury2026-01-14 12:22
So if we consume Sakuna’s fingers do we become better or ruinous at rice farming?
Knee_High_Cat_Beef2026-01-14 14:19
lol, I read the title as Sukuna Rice and Ruin at first too.
[deleted]2026-01-16 04:27
Mid reference
djthomp2026-01-14 14:32
So it's an OVA focusing on Sakuna and Kokorowa spending time on the island together? Sounds good to me, they can even be roommates.
Heigou2026-01-14 14:48
I actually bought the game after watching this show.
sagabal2026-01-14 14:59
yeah but when is the new game coming out
SouekiSennoSTM2026-01-14 16:24
Kokorowa was my favorite character from the series and one of the best girls of the summer of 2024 season.
A second season was announced back in November of 2024, a few months after the first season ended, which I wasn't sure at the time or now whether I'll end up watching whenever it does eventually debut, but it's more likely I'll watch a one or two-off special, so I wonder what it'll entail. Hopefully in line with the title and maximum Kokorowa focus.
literallyjusttony2026-01-14 17:50
Why's her head so big? Lotta thoughts?
Kartoffelkamm2026-01-14 18:51
Probably.
She's a goddess of invention, if I recall correctly.
DirectionExact312026-01-14 19:38
We’re making Amahoho again, let’s go!
VritraReiRei2026-01-15 04:33
Correct me if I'm wrong. This story is not part of the game, yes? Afaik, there's a Kokorowa game but it hasn't been released yet.
