This anime is massively underrated. It's no masterpiece, but it was incredibly enjoyable. Most of the entertainment value in this one comes from the very visceral, masculine, reptilian part of my brain. It's about an age old war between ninja and gokudo. Ninja are...well, I think you all know what ninja are. But Gokudo, in the context of this series, seem to be basically the Yakuza. Like that specific name is never actually used, but they function so much like how the Yakuza typically does in anime. The ninja use the weaponry you'd expect, whereas the Gokudo are covered in tattoos and use guns and whatnot. And of course every character are incredibly super human. After that is 12 episodes of immensely fun action and bloodshed. it's increidbly over the top and I loved every single second of it. Many of the characters do have backstories, and some of them are tragic, but this isn't the main focus. They typically only last like a minute or two, if that. Beyond that the characters aren't that deep, but it is a really fun ride. The ending seemed like it was trying to set up a second seaosn, but one isn't listed anywhere. Honestly if you like Baki or Kengan Ashura you might like htis one. It's not nearly as good as them, but it has a similar appeal.
