Why does Kana Ichinose talk so fast for her characters?
The most apparent example is Satsuki in Watanare. You can literally play her scenes at 0.75 speed and it sounds way more normal.
But I just started watching Holy Grail Eris, and without even knowing she's VAing I noticed immediately how fast the MC was talking.
I don't know enough about JP VA standards. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it just a new style of voicing I'm unaware of? Does the studio speed it up?

I know it's not how it works but it's fun to imagine them saying they pay by the word and Ichinose going "bet" lol
Like others have said, it’s not abnormally fast at all. Sounds like more of a you thing.
Also don't really agree it was abnormally fast in Watanare either.
Sometimes characters speak faster when there are a lot of lines that need to be crammed in. So a faster paced dialogue heavy show you are going to see some fast talking here and there.
Anyways.
The DIRECTOR tells the actors HOW to voice the characters. This is called "voice direction". Directors don't tell VAs to "just improvise", at least not normally.
