I'm jealous, wish I could've seen this movie in theaters even if I already watched it.
Joshawott272026-01-14 17:03
Hopefully we’ll eventually get news of this coming to the UK. I was really hoping that Scotland Loves Anime would have had it last year, but alas.
MaChao202026-01-14 17:12
Scotland Loves Anime? I’m not aware of that one. Does Scotland itself have a huge or sizeable amount of anime fans?
Joshawott272026-01-14 17:15
Scotland Loves Anime is an annual film festival. It’s been running for about 15 years now. They often show a lot of films that wouldn’t ordinarily get theatrical releases here. They have dates in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and recently expanded into London (the best Scottish city, obviously).
Anime Limited, the largest distributor here beside Crunchyroll, are also based in Glasgow. Both Anime Limited and SLA were founded by Andrew Partridge.
MaChao202026-01-14 17:25
Recently visited Edinburgh and Glasgow. I would love to live and work there, or any places near those two cities.
Also London as best Scottish city? Bruh you joking, right?
Joshawott272026-01-14 17:27
Yes, that was a joke about them still using the “Scotland Loves Anime” branding for their London dates.
I’ve visited both Edinburgh and Glasgow a few times. I’d love to live in Edinburgh, if only I could afford it.
MaChao202026-01-14 17:34
Maybe one day if I get lucky to get a sponsored work visa in the renewables sector there.
sweepernosweeping2026-01-14 18:04
Anime Limited just got bought by Toho to become their European branch.
Joshawott272026-01-14 18:15
Indeed they did! I know the people at Anime Limited, so that was very exciting news to get at the end of last year.
sweepernosweeping2026-01-14 18:19
I've bought some mystery boxes over the years and just nabbed the NGE Limited Edition they did for £25 last month so I'm a fan, even if it does seem a bit much at times for a cour of episodes. But that's more the market than Anime Limited themselves.
Would do SLA more but its at the same time as the Thought Bubble convention so miss most of it.
Shimmering-Sky2026-01-14 17:03
Real shit?!?!?! I will 100% be there as long as one of my local theaters is included in this.

Horse Girl Redline let's gooooo
Needs_Improvement2026-01-14 17:16
Yo! Hopefully this means it’ll make it to streaming eventually.
eightcheesepizza2026-01-14 17:20
The sound design in this movie was incredible. I wanna experience that in a proper theater.
Josephuuu_2026-01-14 17:49
Is this the first time it's releasing outside of Japan? If so, that's great, would've watched it around 3 more times if I can have a screening here at SEA.
Sandelsbanken2026-01-14 17:53
They have showed it few times in different conventions but this seems to be actual release.
jaesuk972026-01-15 01:35
It was released in 2024 in Korea, Hong Kong and Taiwan a few weeks after releasing in Japan.

[Official NA Trailer](https://youtu.be/h4dMQOzj-5g?si=AZeCXH4Y1e4twlDm)
One of the best anime movies of this decade.
If you told me 5 years ago horse girls would make it to NA theaters, I would not have believed it.
Salty1452026-01-14 23:14
If you told me 5 years ago that horse girls would be putting out one of the best anime films of the decade, I would also have not believed you.
Kothra2026-01-15 02:34
Well, 5 years ago is when Pretty Derby Season 2 aired, so maybe not too much of a leap from that point.
It's really been that long already...
Salty1452026-01-15 02:42
Oh God my bones are creaking.
Considering I didn't get to *Uma Musume* until 2023, I would still have not believed you in 2021. Even if I had watched it, being 1 for 2 with seasons still isn't quite enough to make the jump to "one of the best movies of the decade".
Though maybe I would have been more skeptical than outright dismissive.
Kewlmyc2026-01-14 18:52
Already watched it, but seeing it on a big screen should be fun.
AlphaHawk1152026-01-14 22:03
anyone happen to know if North America actually means North America here or just the US? can't find anything one way or the other
Mosstalon2026-01-15 03:56
North America is the entire US but big chance they may show in big city areas sadly.
HealthyCalendar27612026-01-15 07:40
AFAIK North America includes Canada and Mexico. Which is what I think is what they're asking is will this be North America(U.S.A) or North America.
Salty1452026-01-14 23:13
I now understand the Shounen Bros desire to see content they’ve already seen again on the big screen
DirtyTacoKid2026-01-15 01:45
I've seen this movie a few times but I must see it in theater
clickclickclik2026-01-15 02:48
awesome, hope i get to watch it in vancouver
so disappointed when i saw that stuff like iron lung was only available in the us lol

Interesting bit from GENDA's PR release (the parent company of distributor GAGA)
>Furthermore, we plan to implement promotional synergies leveraging more than 12,000 mini-locations (mainly a gaming corner with 30 or fewer game machines installed) operated by GENDA across North America.
They are talking about the general business plan, but I'm curious if they'll try to get some Uma stuff in arcades for the movie. [GENDA Release](https://genda.jp/2026/01/15/gaga-accelerates-global-distribution-strategy-for-japanese-films-and-contentcygames-multimedia-franchise-umamusume-pretty-derby-will-see-its-first-theatrical-feature-rele/)
One other interesting/funny, on the GAGA english press release, the media contact is Anime Trending.
WideNinja6002026-01-15 06:49
Is there a watch order for this?
scytheavatar2026-01-15 10:35
It is highly recommended that you watch Road to the Top before Beginning of a New Era since there's some character crossovers and it will enhance your appreciation of the movie. But the series is for most part independent of each other and you can watch it in any order.
Whendfield1232026-01-15 11:27
Completely standalone
I still recommend watching season 1 or 2 of pretty derby, so that you are more familiar with the setting.
Also dont you dare fall in love with Tachyon. She is mine
MjolnirDK2026-01-15 13:46
Should you start at the beginning, just be aware that S1 is very rough. BNW is more of that. S2 has one of the best story lines in anime and why everybody loves this show. Road to the Top has killer animation. S3 is good, Brand new Era and Cinderella Gray have amazing animation and great stories.
Either start with S1 or Cinderella Gray. But definitely definitely watch it while reading the rewatch threads. These enhance your understanding and appreciation tremendously since everything is based on real events.
kwokinator2026-01-15 06:54
So as someone who hasn't watched a single episode of Uma Musume but tries to watch any anime in theatres just to show support so they keep bringing movies to NA theatres, how newbie friendly is this?
I already watch 40+ anime a season just on the new seasons, no time to go through backlogs unless it's between season breaks.
AlulaLalune2026-01-15 07:21
Extremely newbie friendly they don’t expect you to know any characters or prior plot lines since even in the anime each season’s plot is mostly self contained
Even chars from the main anime that appear is mostly cameo, if you need to know something characters will have exposition dialogue
quietvictories2026-01-15 16:24
super newbie friendly and self-contained. Relation to main series is recurring characters showing in background here and there as easter eggs
blitzbom2026-01-15 15:07
Me living in Denver. Let's put a Broncos jersey on and go to the theater.
For those not in the know Uma fans adopted the Broncos because horse and because the team won 11(?) in a row after the game came out. After each game there's a Uma cut of highlights.
yayaspin12026-01-16 07:12
Why isn't it in France? We're the second-largest consumers of anime and manga in the world. Why Cygame? Release it globally; there will be tons of people. As a fan, I'm willing to travel all the way to Paris, a three-hour drive, to see the film. Come on, Cygame, please!
Sackmat-_-2026-01-17 02:11
Any chance of this making it to Europe?
Zaxek2026-01-18 13:28
Does anyone know if it'll be released in other parts of the world yet?
ponytranquilizer2026-01-19 08:56
does anyone know where its gonna be showing at in the US yet??
MrManicMarty2026-01-19 21:18
Shit, I watched the first OVA a few weeks ago. Maybe I'll hold off on watching this to see if it's planning to come to any UK cinemas.
