Valentine's Triple Feature Rewatch (Horimiya, Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie, Insomniacs After School) Interest Thread

Valentine's Day is coming next month, which makes it the perfect time for watching romance anime! Horimiya, Shikimori and Insomiacs are three series I enjoyed very much, and offer a good variety in the genre. Shikimori is a sugary sweet romance between characters who are already a couple from the very start. Horimiya's romance has a bit more spice, and more focus on the side characters in its second season. Insomniacs moves to the slower, relaxed pace of a drama rather than a romcom. But all three share the common thread of a great main pair, plus fun friend groups (with the occasional side ships)!

Horimiya also aired 5 years ago this season, which also happens to make it an anniversary rewatch!

#**Horimiya**

> A secret life is the one thing they have in common. At school, Hori is a prim and perfect social butterfly, but the truth is she's a brash homebody. Meanwhile, under a gloomy facade, Miyamura hides a gentle heart, along with piercings and tattoos. In a chance meeting, they both reveal a side they've never shown. Could this blossom into something new?

#**Shikimori's Not Just A Cutie**

> Naturally unlucky high school student Izumi's girlfriend is his classmate Shikimori. She has a beautiful smile and kind personality and always seems happy when she's with Izumi. She's a pretty, cute, and loving girlfriend, but when Izumi's in trouble… she transforms into a super cool "heartthrob girlfriend!" The fun lives of the cute and cool Shikimori, Izumi, and their good friends never end! This 1000% precious romantic comedy begins now!

#**Insomniacs After School**

> Ganta Nakami is a high school student who suffers from insomnia. One day, he meets Isaki Magari, a girl with the same condition. A strange, but special relationship forms as they share a secret and catch up on their sleep in their school’s abandoned observatory…

Hi Heda-of-Aincrad, it looks like you might be interested in hosting a rewatch! [There's a longer guide on the wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/wiki/successfulrewatchguide) but here's some basic advice on how to make a good rewatch happen:

* Include **basic information about the anime** such as a description for those that haven't heard of it as well as where it can be watched (if legally available).

* Specify a **date and time** that rewatch threads will be posted. Consistency is good!

* Check for **[previous rewatches](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/wiki/rewatches)**. It's generally advised to wait a year between rewatches of the same anime.

* If you want to have a rewatch for multiple anime, they should be **thematically connected**. You can also hold multiple unrelated rewatches if they aren't.

* Ensuring **enough people are interested** is important. If only a few users say they *might* participate, you may end up with no one commenting once it starts.

[](#bot-chan)

I hope this helps! You may also want to talk to users that have hosted rewatches before for extra advice, also listed [on the rewatch wiki](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/wiki/rewatches).

*I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/anime) if you have any questions or concerns.*

As mentioned in the daily thread yesterday, I should be good to make the Shikimori & Insomniacs part of this as a first-timer for both!

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-14 22:14

Awesome, glad to have you join us!

BaytaCosmico2026-01-14 22:39

Ditto. I'll also try to join Horimiya as a rewatcher so I can finally watch Missing Pieces which I've been slacking on.

Shimmering-Sky2026-01-14 22:46

Only reason I'm passing on Horimiya is because I'm trying to keep the number of rewatches I join a little lower than normal, and I'm prioritizing first-time watches over rewatches. Horimiya's a good show, hope you have fun with Missing Pieces!

BaytaCosmico2026-01-14 22:55

Horimiya was one of the first romance anime I watched and I loved it (it's where my obsession with Uchi began).

Didn't jump on to Missing Pieces right away because I didn't have a CR subscription and they only had the first season for free. Somehow kept putting it off for later after that. This seems like a good chance to fix this.

See you in the episode threads for the other two! I'm especially looking forward to Insomniacs which I've heard so much about.

Shimmering-Sky2026-01-14 23:00

> (it's where my obsession with Uchi began).

[Lore!](#attentivenote)

Always neat to be able to pinpoint the exact show that made you like a specific actor.

BaytaCosmico2026-01-14 23:03

Hehe I'm still new enough to anime as a whole to be able to pinpoint this for pretty much all my favourites so far.

Shimmering-Sky2026-01-14 23:06

I can remember a few examples for me (Shuuichi Ikeda --> Char Aznable from Gundam and Kenjirou Tsuda --> Doug Horvat from Juushinki Pandora being the biggest two), but I have so many VAs that I like nowadays that it's a big [](#animatedthink) on exactly what role put them on my radar.

BaytaCosmico2026-01-14 23:27

Haven't come across Shuuichi Ikeda, I don't think. But for TsudaKen, it was his Christmas greeting voice note a couple of years ago. That's all I needed to hear.

I can understand losing track when you've watched a lot of anime though. I'm slowly getting there myself. But the big favourites like Uchi and Hayamin (Pseudo Harem), I think I'll always remember.

Shimmering-Sky2026-01-14 23:35

> Haven't come across Shuuichi Ikeda, I don't think.

He's been in the industry since the late-1970s and I'm pretty sure is mostly retired now, so he's not in a lot of modern stuff outside of coming back for a role he's already been doing (I've heard he had a brief bit in a recent One Piece episode, for example). Doesn't surprise me you haven't heard him anywhere yet.

>But for TsudaKen, it was his Christmas greeting voice note a couple of years ago. That's all I needed to hear.

I just think it's funny the show I know him for is this random mecha show so obscure I managed to surprise a bigger mecha head than me a while back by mentioning the show exists in the first place (he somehow didn't know about it), considering how many roles in incredibly larger series he's had. Will try to make it for the Insomniacs rewatch. If it's no bother, pls tag me once again a couple days before it starts as a reminder.

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-14 23:17

No problem! [](#kannathumbs)

zool7142026-01-14 22:44

May consider Insomniacs since it’s been on my list of rewatches for a while

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-14 23:19

It's a great series! One of my most recommend romances.

FD4cry12026-01-14 22:45

[Triple watch!](#saberawe)

I'll take tags for the Horimiya and Insomniacs parts.

awesomenessofme12026-01-14 22:45

I definitely won't be participating in the rewatch fully, but I do want to finally watch Insomniacs After School before I cancel my Hulu subscription, and if the timing lines up, I might pop into a few threads for that one.

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-14 23:18

Cool, I'll give you a reminder tag when it gets closer to the Insomniacs rewatch.

awesomenessofme12026-01-14 23:41

Actually, put me down for a maybe on Shikimori. It's much longer since I watched it, and I think I may have been too harsh the first time.

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-15 02:29

All right then, I'll remind you before Shikimori. Hope you enjoy it more the second time around.

Magnafeana2026-01-14 22:52

Oh dang. What a triple threat. I would be a first timer for all of this, though I’ve read bits and pieces of the mangas years back.

I might miss some days due to coursework, but I am interested. I love romance ☺️

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-14 23:16

Awesome, glad to have you join us!

Quiddity1312026-01-14 23:08

Wow, all 3! I thought you were only going to do one?

A maybe for me, i do want to research all 3 shows a little further first. March I've got some crazy work travel so Horimiya is the best odds for me.

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-14 23:14

I was originally planning to do one or two, but ended up getting an equal amount of interest for all three of them! It'll be the first time I'm hosting a two month rewatch but should be fun.

[](#morecomfy)

Nickthenuker2026-01-14 23:19

Sign me up! I've been meaning to watch the first 2 for ages (one of my friends keeps posting Horimiya stuff on her Insta stories so it'll be nice to see what that's from), and the last one I already watched and enjoyed tremendously, enough to go read the rest of the manga after that.

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-15 02:31

Awesome! I've also been reading the Insomniacs manga.

InfamousEmpire2026-01-14 23:20

I’ll lurk for Horimiya, at least [](#mugiwait)

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-15 02:32

Feel free to post in the discussions anytime.

SMSmith2302026-01-15 01:26

Down for the insomniacs rewatch. I’m gonna try and be a better participant for this one.

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-15 02:35

Great! And no worries if you can't make it for every thread. You can post whenever it's convenient.

StardustGogeta2026-01-15 01:37

Ooh, nice selection!

If you put together a tag list, could you please tag me for *Shikimori*? I haven't seen that one before, so I'm interested in checking it out.

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-15 02:37

[**Sure thing!**](#kannathumbs)

Kadmos12026-01-15 02:12

For "MHA: Vigilantes", Macy Anne "Pop Step" Johnson also voiced the sexy Shikimori mentioned in this thread.

RapBert2026-01-15 06:18

I'll sign up for this. I've wanted to watch both Horimiya and Shikimori for some time now, and Insomniacs is one of my favourite anime.

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-15 06:55

Awesome, hope you enjoy the shows!

Nebresto2026-01-15 09:49

Triple threat! Definitely in for Insomnia

[](#ilovethiskindofshit)

and maybe for Hori. Shikimori is also great but probably wont have the time

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-15 16:48

That's cool, glad to have you join us! Feel free to stop by for the series discussion on Shikimori (the day before Insomniacs) even if you don't have time for the daily threads.

DemonScaleRev2026-01-15 11:08

I love all these but I have exams D:

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-15 16:52

That's too bad. Let me know if you change your mind and want to join for just one of the three. Good luck on your exams!

Mecanno-man2026-01-15 12:49

I'd be up for the Insomniacs

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-15 16:49

Nice, I'll give you a reminder tag before the Insomniacs rewatch starts.

ClemFire2026-01-15 22:44

Oh nice! I've watched all three, and would be interested in the Shikimori rewatch and might drop by the others. I always felt like it was a bit underrated when it was airing as a lot of people were making direct comparisons to My Dress-Up Darling. Have not gone back to rewatch Shikimori but every now and again it has been on the back of my mind so this feels like the perfect chance. Please tag me for that one.

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-16 01:26

Sure thing! Would you like a reminder tag before the full rewatch starts with Horimiya as well, or just before Shikimori starts in March?

ClemFire2026-01-16 02:42

Just before Shikimori would be great, thanks!

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-16 03:40

All right, will do. [](#kannathumbs)

zadcap2026-01-16 09:54

Absolutely down for a rewatch of Shikimori and Insomnia, I guess I should see how good Horimiya is too now.

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-16 15:46

Awesome, glad to have you join us!

TorchThisAccount2026-01-20 02:28

Haven't seen any of these, but maybe they'll be interesting.

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-20 06:38

Would you like reminder tags before the rewatch starts, or for specific shows?

TorchThisAccount2026-01-20 08:09

Reminder works. I'll check out the three of them and see from there. Thanks!

Heda-of-Aincrad2026-01-20 17:12

All right, will do! Hope you'll enjoy the shows.
