Dubbing director and voice actress Gloria Rocha has died at 94 years old, she is responsible for the legendary LATAM dubs of Dragon Ball and Sailor Moon, among others.
She's responsible for directing and assembling the cast behind the LATAM dub that made Dragon Ball the most influential anime in the region.

LATAM dubs were goated, its amazing how back in the day even the Opening theme songs were dubbed, accurate and good!

The song for DBZ was dubed in Spanish Chala-head-chala and it's the most beautiful thing ever. There is no person born late 80's and through 90's that does not love that song.

she is highkey responsible for the quality level of all of LATAM's anime dubs. Not necessarily by directing them herself but by elevating the standard with the ones she did.
Arguably the reason why the quality of EN dubs is so low (on average) is mostly because of directing so I am very grateful for someone like her existing in our region.

We basically moved from series dubbing individually to syndicate restricted actor lists to studio based dubbing. Nowawadys everything sounds the same.

Rip. My dad grew up with the lat dub of db which lead him to eventually introduce db to me as a kid. If not for her great work I might not have ever gotten into anime.
