I can’t remember what CR and Funi were like prior to the merger, but I want to say things were relatively consistent in episode drops.
This could be my nostalgia and bad memory talking though, I will admit.

u/Funds365, episode has dropped!
Tatsuya’s like a cautionary tale for Heroes. Guy’s brain looks to be mush from getting rezzed so many times. He’s just a beast.
I’m really enjoying the Xylo-Teoritta dynamic. It’s a real highlight in this series so far, next to the top tier action.
Keen to see how this rescue op plays out. I got high hopes in our 3 man team of Heroes.
And there were pipes and I am guessing a pump at 3 min 20 sec mark, so I am also guessing that the war has been going on for far longer than 20 years for humanity to regress that far back to knights and swords.
The mine looks 19th century at least by my guess.
Reminds me of Bastard!! -Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy-
Yeah, you don't have military-industrial complexes capable of mass producing what looks like WWII-era tanks, and still have mines that rely on *pickaxes* and hand-pushed wooden minecarts.
There has clearly been a great regression in tech, but the real question is if the magical elements like 'sacred seals' were part of the old-world tech or did they arrive with the demons and blight.
Or perhaps they are related? This new 'scientific' breakthrough of 'magic' allowed for both the sacred seals AND demonic blights: it was a foundational turning point for humanity. Old tech was abandoned and new 'tech,' magic, replaced it.
Now did they replace tanks with magic because they thought it better, was it a necessity to fight the Blight, or a desperation move as apocalyptic conditions lead to a breakdown in modern society that was necessary to support 'modern' tech?
If you havent seen SukaSuka i highly reccomend it, probably one of the best of these sorts of stories.

Order is:
- Prelude to the Fallen
- Mask of Deception
- Mask of Truth
Note that Deception/Truth is a duology and should be played back to back.
Interesting fact about him. He wears the helmet to keep his brains from falling out.
>I’m really enjoying the Xylo-Teoritta dynamic. It’s a real highlight in this series so far, next to the top tier action.
Their relationship dynamics were especially excellent. A lot of her moments this episode actually had a slight melancholic undertone to them and did a great job to really develop her innocence and desire for affection alongside Xylo's own internal turmoil and PTSD. Just *chef's kiss* showing not telling.
I know that the 'curmudgeon with a heart of gold' is a super common trope, but these first two episodes have been brilliant so far and I'm really looking forward to the next one. This may be the sleeper top show of 2026 for me for sure.
There are a lot of questions in my mind tbh but let's see where it goes.
The single father fantasy never disappoints.

I also like how we have a prominent seiyuu, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, voicing him and even without any dialogue, you can tell it's him.

So those stories check out.
Nor does his behavior seem like a king unjustly sentenced, but a mad man that still believes he's in command.
And yeah, Xylo agrees that Norgalle was just crazy, and has always been crazy. Xylo, as a victim of Temple bullshit, doesn't seem like the type that would lie for their sake or just accept the official story at face value.
My point, is that if there was some legitimacy to Norgalle's claims, you'd think Xylo would be more sympathetic or otherwise mention it.
We still can't discount the possibility... like maybe Norgalle's is a royal bastard that was never recognized or some such, but I don't think his claims can be taken at face value.
Same author
And definitely not the only similarity.
Oh god, that young girl's father was turned into a faerie, didn't he? No confirmation of that, but that seemed to be a plausible explanation.
Xylo puts on such a tough front, but he's a softy.
"I fear no man, but that thing \*points at Teoritta\* it scares me."
There's a fine line between genius and insanity and I think Norgalle sits right on that line. Dude made a mimic that can kill Frieren.
How is Tatsuya even functional? It's like using a zombie to fight zombies.
Praises received by Teoritta: 0
He will end up stealing the torture tools the second the torturers leave the room.
This heavily implies the heroes have insane levels of resilience and regeneration, which yeah, they fight x10 better than the ~~cannon fodder~~ Honored and Holy Knights.
Plus, Heroes are not just disposable but are considered scum who deserve to suffer. So even if Dotta did need time to recover, I don't see his superiors giving a rat's ass about his well being.
He was most likely being given additional punishment for 'stealing' a Goddess. And reading between the lines, I think that Goddess was meant for 'disposal.'
Oh, right, and the Knight Commander Lady (Zevia?) wasn't even aware the Heroes had been ordered to assist her retreat, or even that she had been ordered to retreat in the first place. She thought the orders were to make a sacrificial last stand to ensure the Goddess made it out safely.
Why the fuck wouldn't the Knights have used her against the Demon Lord? Why send her away? Why was that priest in the Goddess's transport acting so fucking crazy? It heavily implied the Temple *wanted* the Goddess to be lost to the Blight... or at least, not make it back to the Capital.
Which again, if they cared about the Goddess, why leave her with this degenerate criminal? You'd think the powers that be wouldn't respect her choice to anoint a criminal sentenced to a fate worse than death the *honor and privilege* of being a Goddess's Chosen.
Xylo and Terioritta would be hauled back to the capital and *persuaded* to end their contract.
The whole situation is just hella suspicious on all levels, and I haven't even dug into the shady nature of the current mission.
You know this goddess was probably wanted to be lost to the blight, you know that this is a criminal being sent to death battles.
Why waste time transporting them back to “persuade them” when a very convenient death battle with a demon lord is right around the corner in a mining cave for a town about to be abandoned?
If the 'powers that be' really wanted the Goddess back in the capital, they wouldn't waste time with this mission. Yet alone leave someone so valuable in the hands of someone so... utterly not.
But assuming they want this Goddess to 'disappear' and see Xylo as dispoable scum better off dead on a good day...
Why yes, they WOULD send them on a nasty suicide mission without the most basic of briefing nor prep!
He's busy playing League of Legends
[](#elves)
[This episode](https://imgchest.com/p/lqyenje8xyd) was a huge disappointment in that regard. [Teoritta](https://imgchest.com/p/pg736knmv7r) deserves praise and headpats at least every minute! [Xylo](https://imgchest.com/p/m9yxdxwzm4q) really needs to stop acting like a tsundere xD
The way things are looking, ~~we~~ she might have to wait a long while.
The **LEGENDARY** Tatsuya Yamada.
I guess Xylo's crime of murdering a goddess thwarts all (let alone terrorism) considering that lady general (haven't quite memorized everyone's names yet lol) can talk to 'his majesty' without showing any hint of disgust.
The man is insane, so even after she got over that shock, there was no need to think about him further. Why bother wagging your finger at someone that can't even process what you are saying? And more than that...
He's *crazy.* That alone unnerves people deeply, as you can't expect him to act rationally when he clearly doesn't think rationally. She likely just wants to keep her distance and let others, like Xylo, deal with the nutjob.
Xylo, on the other hand, has at least garnered respect. He didn't steal the Goddess, he killed a Demon Lord, and he saved not just her life but the lives of all her remaining men.
He was also a Knight Captain, the same rank as her. So regardless of his 'crimes,' he was once her equal. More than an equal, in that he was a senior captain with far more experience. Experience he demonstrated on the field of battle when he not only appropriately assessed the tactical situation last episode, but saved her bacon in the process.
In the back of her mind, Zevia (her name?) likely knows the official story and the 'criminal' before her don't add up. If nothing else, she knows he's *capable* and that's enough to use him as a valuable resource at her disposal.
Did the lady commander hear Xylo's defense (including his explanation as to why he had to kill his first goddess -- both for her own sake and that of the kingdom?) At what point will she become aware that her superiors are inept, corrupt and evil?
But if you understand his delusional framework, he becomes predictable. Everything he does makes sense within the logic of his fantasy.
There is a huge stigma against 'crazy people,' and instead of trying to understand the *altered* framework that they operate under, most just go "HE CRAY CRAY" and leave it at that.
They don't want to think deeper as the whole situation makes them very uncomfortable.
That frozen tank indicates this society regressed technologically, were the Demon Lords and Blights science gone awry?
How many times does this man voice men with those goddamn mustaches?! 😭
Oh that little babygirl 🥺
*Oh*, the score reminds me of Angel’s Egg for some reason. I think it’s those specific chords that are selling to me “Angel’s Egg”.
Venetim is so beautiful.
Teori and Anya really would get along.
Tatsuya is Unwell as his negator ability, dear god. But he still looks kinda cute though 🤷🏾♀️
IDGAF, my cats would see the Zolinvolkov and calmly climb to the top.
Tatsu clinging like a koala oh my goodness he is so adorable 😭
Did he burn the meat?
“Delicious”…in a *dungeon?*
>Teoritta: I shall never be satisfied
*Hamilton war flashbacks*
Captain and Satsuki Kiriyuin should swap regalia.
OP is hype. Sequence showing all the cast rushing into battle gave me FMA vibes all over again.

Wiki doesn’t show what the ED song will be, so maybe it’ll come up in Episode 3.
This and Shiboyogi feel like I should be sitting in a theatre to watch the episodes. I feel like I disrespect the animators watching this on my laptop.
Shunsuke Takizawa is doing the score, but I thought it was Evan Call for a hot second.
Rui from Project Sekai and Venetim sharing a seiyuu is bliss for my ears.
The fact that Kirito (SAO), Inosuke (Demon Slayer), and Zanka (Gachiakuta) share a seiyuu with Tatsuya makes me giggle. I would’ve never suspected Yoshitsugu Matsuoka was him, but I love it now!
Also is that Tsugutsugu ? I see he’s chanelling Petelgeuse with Tatsuya
It's awesome to meet more heroes! We have Norgalle [who's basically a mad scientist](https://i.imgur.com/oAaksft.png) and believes [that he's an actual king](https://i.imgur.com/p8BKf8b.png). And then there's Tatsuya who's just [completely gone after so many ressuerctions](https://i.imgur.com/Fve9KAK.png), but he's still [an absolute beast on the battlefield.](https://i.imgur.com/JUse1pd.png)
Also I immediately recognized Matsuoka's voice coming from Tatsuya! I really love how he always takes crazy characters when he's not voicing a harem protagonist. xD
[Teoritta continues to be adorable this episode](https://i.imgur.com/fCBCwXA.png) as she tries to be helpful to Xylo so she can ask for more headpats. I don't know how Xylo can resist her. [Just look at her pouting!](https://i.imgur.com/pm35rqp.png)
Is working with a hero really that bad for the Holy Knight? The fact that Captain Kivia actually had to pause [before ordering Xylo to help them](https://i.imgur.com/kygxVXq.png) when they're clearly struggling is fucking insane.
[I am honestly surprised there's a survivor.](https://i.imgur.com/iMRb05x.png) Considering how bloodthirsty the Faeried Humans were, you'd think they'd all been turned or dead. Maybe that girl's dad from earlier is still alive. Probably not. I don't think that this is that kind of show.
[I just love that Xylo has decided to save the survivors out of spite.](https://i.imgur.com/lTc7iQr.png) Also, I don't think sending Teoritta back is a good idea. She'll probably try to rush to Xylo's side next episode.
From their short conversation about rescuing civvies I have to assume she's got some circumstances of her own in play.
Also, she knows hes a goddess killer, which seems to be one of the worst offenses one can commit
The other thing that I can't quite figure out is why they don't just make tons of heros if it provides this much power and immortality, given the stakes...
Even though we are offered Magic, we have to remember not everything is infinite.
Nor should we assume resurrection is any normal kind of magic
[](#awe)
Dang sword loli wants to stay with knife hero thats nice.
Tatsuya and his majesty? Heroes like him?
They are sending hat knight to help them?
Wait so the king became a hero too? Ooooo interesting.
And Tatsuya has died a lot and mind is fried damn...
Looks like everyone has issues with heroes huh?
So the mine used to make seals is overrun with creep.
Ooo so seals do more than power people neat. i like the magitech.
So we have to dig a tunnel as heroes that sucks.
The king can make sacred seals cool, he seems very useful.
Oh Hat is here. I guess she will be battleing the demom lord too.
Hmm knife hero thinks this mission is pointless? Because its a lost cause?
The higher ups are planning something?
Knife hero being the single dad he was born to be. Good work.
What the hell did the king make? A murder blender. Thats amazing.
Aw sword loli making food for her dad, uncle, and grandpa?
Oh no Sword loli keeps wanting to be used, this will likely lead to bad stuff later.
Oh jesus these faries are humans the old miners it seems thats rough...
Oh shit Hat asked for help im shocked. We get to assist legally nice.
So people turned cant go back damn. We gotta put papa to rest.
Oh not all were got it seems and some more insid who need help.
The king wants to recover them. Hat wants to save them too?
Oh but a churchy is here to say they will scorched earth this place. Classic.
Oh so the King was a deciple of a sage? Interesting.
Well we heroes will go saving people good work.
We gotta do it without the goddess too damn, but thats what heroes do.
Holy shit this OP is great. Looks like w got a lot of cool heoes out there cant wait.
bro who do you think is paying for your off-brand StyroPro hijinks. those sacred seals are basically isekai GPUs and you're going through them like lacroix in the office fridge. birthday orphan girl is gonna starve bc you spent her village's whole GDP on your shark tank pitch for disrupting the barbecue lighter industry.
We also get info that the blight appeared 20 years ago right after a 4th war (forgot the name it was called) which makes think the blight is a failed experiment/bio weapon.
I'm getting some Nausicaä vibes from this show, especially with the design of that tank.
That doesn’t rule out the possibility it was man made but I think there’s also a possibility whoever they were fighting against unleashed this. Maybe it was their last resort, like a “we may die but you’ll never subjugate our lands because we are unleashing a terrible curse.”
Edit: rewatched part of ep1 and Dotta said goddesses were weapons built long ago to fight demon lords. If we take his comments at face value…20 years isn’t that “long ago” even to a someone I’m assuming is a teen. So perhaps Demon Lords existed long ago “naturally” and Demon Blight was their way of making a new army?
We get to meet more weirdos of the group like HIS MAJESTY and he seems to be the "tech" guy but also thinks he is the King lol ? Terorrist apparently but I am really curious for more context considering he was called the last disciple of the sage.
Tatsuya seems to have been resurrected one to many times and now he is kind of like a berserker making even more apparent how bad resurrection can be the more you use it.
Teorrita is great she needs to be protected and I am really liking her dynamic with Xylo.
Kivia and Xylo dynamic is also getting more and more interesting it seems the wall between them is cracking a bit with her actually asking for his opinion.
This mission stinks so much of something more happening so I cant wait for next episode.
I have a [video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmsXnQpS7-o) review if anyone is interested. Thank You.
Let's see how thids miossion goes. Also, judging by OP, more fun "heroes" incoming.
This world really is fucked, or the powers that be really don't see much difference between the Knights and Heroes: both are disposable fools to sacrifice in the eyes of the Elites.
It's just they are more honest about it with the Heroes.... But that still doesn't seem to excuse the delusions of the Knights. For all their talk of pride and claiming victory, they just seem to drop like flies with every engagement and need bailing out constantly.
How is this the main military force of this Empire? And if so, how has the world not entirely collapsed yet?
or maybe the other knights rely on their goddess
So command to force these poor guys to do shit like defense (first ep) and flushing out a small cave where they can’t use their skills in mobility is definitely not their their best suit.
I assume a mysterious "they" is trying to get our specific Knight-Captain killed, but still
These looked like scrubs, but they talked a big game and the "heroes" would have been executed if the knights were lost.
>I assume a mysterious "they" is trying to get our specific Knight-Captain killed, but still
Pretty sure Zevia, the lady Knight Captain, was unaware that a retreat order had even been given. She was under the assumption that the Goddess (Teoritta) had been recalled to the Capital and her duty was to screen that transport at the cost of her own life.
Which was clearly contradictory to the orders Xylo was given.
Gee, I wonder where else we've heard about contradictory orders from the Temple...
Speaking of the Church, when Teoritta's transport was being overrun by monsters, the lone priest with them was all crazy-eyed, acting hella sus, and one of the Knights called him out right before getting killed by a Faerie.
Rewatching the scene... the knight wanted to secure the 'coffin' Teoritta was in, but the priest was wholly unconcerned with protecting the Goddess and wanted everyone remaining to flee. When the knight realizes the priest doesn't care, he tries to accuse the priest of something before being munched by a monster.
But he sounded scared as he was accusing the Temple of something he considered inconceivable... like setting this whole situation up to intentionally get the Goddess killed.
The priest then fucks off.
It's the same fuckin priest.
Holy forking shirtballs, the priest that was supposed to be escorting Teoritta, that was unconcerned when mosnters overran their transport, that smiled when a faerie killed the knight in front of him, during that whole suspicious mess with Zevia facing off against a Demon Lord, while she and Xylo were given contradictory orders...
Is the same priest in this episode, once again acting sus as fuck.
How did he even survive that monster attack that wiped out all the knights? One of those monsters chased Dotta down too... but none of them chased that priest, nor did he run into another fearie?
And if I'm right, the Temple wanted fearies to attack Teoritta's transport with only this one priest surviving the attack...
Wtf. Does the Temple have some way to control or influence Fearies!?
It's already hella sus that they are getting their own military forces wiped out, en masse, and are intentionally throwing away a valuable super weapon (Goddess Teoritta), and even more sus that Goddess can turn into Demon Lords (or at least be corrupted into something even worse)...
Just how deeply is the Temple connected to the Blight!?
The ending provided a great scene when Kivia mentioned the hypothetical. Teriotta reminded Xylo of that girl in town waiting for her father. He can tell that Teriotta wants to save them, and, well, it is clear Xylo has a soft spot at this point.
Xylo looks tough, but he’s proved to actually be a softie. He cannot bear to see the look of a sad child.
This also further underscores how deeply he must’ve cared for Senerva.
We learned in episode one that things aren't always what they seem.
Wonder what the Xylo groan count will be by the end of this.
Given how shady the government is, I wonder if there is any truth to his claims on the throne. Could he be a relative of the actual King, for example ? I am not sure attempted regicide is actually such a bad idea or an evil thing to do when the country is so obviously a dystopia.
It also makes me wonder who Tatsuya was and what was his crime. He seems to be a very strong fighter and was probably the first person to be “sentenced to be a Hero”. Alas, he is probably too far gone to even remember why he is here, which is all kinds of horrifying.
If the government/church is the bad guys then it wouldn't be crazy for them to overthrow the proper king for a puppet of their choosing. Not sure why they would make him a hero in that case, but motives for what is going on are very lacking right now.
I think that's very possible.
He could be some prince who went to study and learn those sealing techniques, maybe then the current king and/or some other royalty died (whether killed or naturally) and he became the next successor
And maybe he was too idealistic for that, who knows?
If he is just randomly mad as the king, I would be more surprised, so we'll see
I definitely really like him.
I always love the guys creating all the cool fantasy gadgets
If anyone knows worm, there, my favurotie ability was always the Tinker.
Her protocol trotting ass sensed his aura is legit
One of the best things I have been liking about these new dark fantasies is that the settings are interesting. We get a quick glance at a tank. So this is clearly some sort of post-apocalyptic setting, which also jives with the vaguely fungal-like nature of the fairies. I guess the question is if it's a secondary world or if it's actually are far future or something
Kevia? Zevia? whatever seems less antagonistic this time around, and is even more sympathetic. Of course the asshole priest from the first scene is going to suggest abandoning the trapped miners.
The new additions are good, although I miss Dotta. Surprised how easily everyone just gets over the dude who thinks he is a king.
So Tatsuya's the completely broken veteran member of the unit. I'm wondering if he was the first to be sentenced to be a hero. As for Norgalle, he reminds me of [Emperor Norton](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emperor_Norton) and I can't wait to see why he got sentenced in the first place given what little of his backstory.
Otherwise, the little crumbs that we have of a larger conspiracy gives me a feeling that Kivia is gonna end up swept up in whatever it is that also targeted Xylo.
In another universe Freiren might suddenly feel a present of a terrifed enemy for no reason.
Norgalle reminds me of Alex Armstrong except delusional.
Also, Teoritta has the same red insignias on the neck as the heroes..I caught a glimpse of it. This will probably be explained later I bet?
But the episode was fine? So to those who claim to know the in's and out's, what went wrong with your theories and predictions?
Regardless, good episode. Dotta nowhere to be seen? But new hero's and an ED or OP? That's good.
"Tch"
Norgalle is an amusing character, he has a lot of personality and I like that even Tatsuya joined in so that Xylo could take the key away lol. Funny how I was able to recognize Matsuoka Yoshitsugu voicing Tatsuya, another berserker type character for him.
It's interesting how much gets animated in this, there was one scene where Xylo and Teoritta were talking and there was so much movement from him when that could have been a still shot.
Then there’s Tatsuya. Even though he is a Hero, both his appearance and behavior are like those of a zombie. I wonder if that is the inevitable fate of someone who has been resurrected repeatedly... The sheer weight and consequence of the act of "resurrection" really hit home.
I was also surprised to see a Hero engaging in mining. Although it doubles as an investigation into the extent of the Demon King Phenomenon's erosion, what he’s doing is essentially odd jobs. It goes to show that a Hero’s duty isn't just about fighting.
Kivia, the Captain of the Knighthood, seems to be in a classic middle-management position. She’s in a tough spot, having to protect her subordinates while meeting the expectations of her superiors. You can really see her struggling to do her best in her own way.
I expect the story will head toward Xylo fighting the Demon King after he rescues the stranded laborers. Surrounded by noisy people on all sides, Xylo looks like he won't have a moment to catch his breath. It’s a rough situation for him.
C'mon man. If you even watched the episode, it was right there at the very beginning. He can't afford to be like Tatsuya, otherwise how will he be able to carry out his end game much less remember that he has one.
Edit: the thing that has me curious tho is whether it's part of the conspiracy for Xylo to survive and be scapegoated (because he's such an asset to the empire it would be a waste to off him) or the mastermind/s simply view him as a loose-end, hence he's been made into a 'hero' who can then be sent to suicide missions where he could go through the cycle of death and resurrection, ultimately losing his mind in the process (yet still maintaining some usefulness as a mindless grunt)
I somehow thought next episode will be 1 hour too, but thats just a fantasy.
Shit I really wished this will be a non stop grim dark fantasy battle with angry people screaming.
