Looking for a Short, High-Quality Anime

I’ll be getting a break of around 1–2 months after my Class 11 entrance exams (the gap between Class 10 and 11). During this time, I want to watch a short but absolute GOAT-level anime—something that can be finished quickly but leaves a strong impact.
Any solid recommendations?

Cyberpunk edgerunners

ash_lv42026-01-15 16:18

Okay, thanks 😊

Bad_Doto_Playa2026-01-15 16:18

Depends on what you mean by short but Madoka Magica can be completed in an afternoon (12 eps).

Made in Abyss is another (13 eps).

Steins Gate is another but is double the length (24 eps).

ash_lv42026-01-15 16:21

Okay, thanks for your advice

Local_Pickle_47172026-01-15 16:22

Made in Abyss is 25 episodes over 2 seasons with a film between them. Plus, the optional Marulk-chan no Nichijou specials.

Bad_Doto_Playa2026-01-15 16:23

Yeah, that's true but I deliberately avoided S2s (since all of these have impactful standalone S1s) and movie sequels (as madoka has those and steins gate as well).

No_Cockroach24672026-01-15 16:18

Odd Taxi.

ash_lv42026-01-15 16:19

Okay 👍🏻 👌🏻

Full metal panic! (The first version) is a good one

ash_lv42026-01-15 16:25

Ammm… I may try

Delicious-Trade91582026-01-15 16:32

Tokapi’s orginal sin, definitely leaves a impact.

most Romance and sports animes are usually pretty short, so you could always look up some.

ash_lv42026-01-15 16:49

I will definitely watch this anime
If innocence met a broken world… would we protect it?

Superb-Ad57712026-01-15 16:40

\- Death Parade (12, purgatory death games/meaning of life)

\- Kaguya, Love is war (peak rom-com. sequels put the episode count at \~45, but it's episodic nature let's you get away with watching what you want)

\- Steins;Gate (24, top 5 all time. sci-fi/mystery)

\- Chainsaw man (12+movie, peak cinema)

\- From the new world (25, slow burn, but peak story telling)

\- Spy Family (sequels put the count at 36+, but it's episodic nature let's you get away with watching what you want)

\- Blue Box (12. peak romance, but no season 2 yet)

\- Cyberpunk (10, must-watch if you don't mind nudity/gore)

\- Inuyashiki (11. good vs evil robots + emotional tug of war)

\- Konosuba (sequels put episode count at 36+, but it's episodic nature let's you get away with watching what you want)

\- Too Many Losing Heroines (12. rom-com, but very nice directing. extremely cinematic)

\- Bananafish (24. mature american mafia story. LGBT themes)

Princess mononoke. Just hours long but the animation is top notch with phenomenal and intelligent side characters. I promise it's a classic for a reason

ash_lv42026-01-16 10:13

Okay 👍🏻 👌🏻

ThanksNo27502026-01-15 16:55

Skip and loafer if you want something sweet and wholesome.

Sonny boy and Takopi's original sin if you want to see something deep and different from mainstream action.

ash_lv42026-01-16 06:58

Okayy 👍🏻 👌🏻

Medical-Business-5542026-01-15 17:16

Goblin slayer
Gate
Ninja Scroll (movie)
Princess Mononoke (Movie)

Gurren Lagann

If you haven't seen it... It really is a masterpiece. I think the whole series is 26 episodes. The first few episodes hardly scratch the surface of how well paced and better the anime gets the more you watch. The story is meaningful and amazing. It evokes a premise of the power to believe in yourself where not even the sky is the limit. Pierce the heavens... Even if you don't believe in yourself, believe in the me that believes in you. Strive for a better tomorrow and embrace the challenges of what it means to be a human and survive in a world where the odds are stacked against you, but you can determine your drive and potential to accomplish almost everything.

ash_lv42026-01-16 07:02

Seems good 👍🏻 👌🏻

DataUserOne2026-01-16 07:25

Absolutely, I haven't seen anyone who has seen it fully and not liked it.

sonosabi2026-01-15 17:53

For some reason, PUPPET SUNSUN isn’t being talked about on r/anime this season.

ash_lv42026-01-16 07:05

Dude, its not anime 🤧

sonosabi2026-01-16 13:38

You might not believe it, but Puppet SunSun is categorized as “anime” in Japan.

ash_lv42026-01-16 19:17

Quiddity1312026-01-15 18:14

slur-muh-wurds2026-01-15 22:28

Erased is sweet, short, and to-the-point

davidwhaymond2026-01-15 22:29

Apocalypse Hotel. A 12-episode original masterpiece. Funny, thought-provoking, and poignant.

ash_lv42026-01-16 07:10

Isn't it a new anime masterpiece from 2025🤔

davidwhaymond2026-01-16 17:04

It is. By "original" I meant that the story was written specifically for the anime; it isn't based on any source material like manga or light novel.

ash_lv42026-01-16 19:20

Oh nice

HuskyyPL2026-01-15 22:41

it might not have an impact but you can check out Milky Higlhway and Milky Subway. Milky Highway is like an episode 0. You can finish this show in 30-40 minutes but even for this short dutstion it was super good.

You can watch it for free on the official [youtube channel](https://youtube.com/@milkygalacticuniverse?si=-aom9J8uhTr9cg7r)
