did not finish the last season, is the meeting segment that extensive throughout the entire season?
calltarneedazan2026-01-15 21:36
The fourth season will air for a total run of five cours, with the first two cours airing continuously~
Aliensinnoh2026-01-15 21:50
*FIVE?!*
Seasons be getting bigger and bigger nowadays.
anim8rjb2026-01-15 22:10
you know how many meeting episodes you can pack into 5 cours?

2 meetings
Etheo2026-01-16 01:54
I mean, it's one meeting Michael. How much could it cost... 5 cours?
Cr1m50nSh4d0w2026-01-16 10:56
You're think too small, my friend. Why fit one meeting into five cour when you could fit five meeting into one cour?
ILikeFPS2026-01-16 04:11
I'm ready to watch every meeting, and maybe even a couple battles if they have any. The world building and characters in this anime are among my top favourites, so I was extremely happy when I heard it's getting 5 cours.
cs_cast_away_boi2026-01-16 04:36
i legitimately cannot wait for all those sweet meetings. I love politics shi
StickiStickman2026-01-16 17:42
But it's not politics, it's just a dozen people sucking off Rimuru and telling him how awesome he is
cs_cast_away_boi2026-01-16 18:19
then u should probably rewatch because you missed a lot of important details
UMP45isnotflat2026-01-16 23:18
yeah this. Politics would be fine, sitting a room and patting each other on the back for beeing awesome like some sort of therapy group is not (atleast not when its the majority of the "content")
porpoiseoflife2026-01-16 05:01
They learned how to do it from AoT.
the_3rdist2026-01-16 19:12

That is because of the fact people can binge previous seasons without pause, it is a way to give them time to keep up with demand, as well as have a chance to hold a candle to long run series like "Naruto, dragon ball z, one piece", and others that have been loved for generations at this point. Take in to account international interest in the genre growing and western demand for series that are more than 2 seasons as well as community disappointment in cop-out endings like that of "attack on titans" that enraged many fans as it left the series feeling incomplete and pointless to have watched due to lack of satisfaction, the longer series allows for more detail, creativity, and diversity of story directions, meaning side quest arks can have unforgettable consequences that ripple through the story as a whole. I suspect in the near future we won't even need to wait for dubbed versions as the market grows it is only natural dubbed versions for each nation within distribution agreements will be pre-made to ensure maximum profits upon release. The internet has revolutionized how we watch TV and so revolutionizing how it is made is a natural consequence of that. Seasons now get started part way through the season being aired's release to ensure shorter wait times, with longer series it also creates the "forgotten joy effect" meaning we can't remember everything in detail on a first second or third watch, giving them more time to create even longer releases as we can rewatch over and over and still forget and rediscover or even discover things things we missed before. As well as help a growing fan base familiarize themselves with the set rules for the universe in which the story takes place. This creates the ultimate means for community involvement as well as discussions even furthering engagement. In effect community engagement also acts as free advertising as you go brag and discuss your favorite shows characters and plot points with old fans as well as drawing in new fans due to the excitement experienced. This is a big reason places like MARVEL and DC comics lasted so long. It may be a different genre but it has many of the qualities that are loved globally

Eternal meetings from hell
MedicOfTime2026-01-16 00:11
What is the meaning of a cour if they are continuous?
slicer4ever2026-01-16 01:35
a cour is 1 seasonal airing slot(i.e: winter season, fall, spring, summer) of 10-13 episodes. so telling us it's continuous 2 cours means the first 2 cours will air together in both spring+summer, and the rest will air at some point in a future slot.
Uchiha-Itachi--2026-01-16 10:08
So first two cours will run two seasons back to back like a full cour and next 3 cours will at least have one season gap?
cppn022026-01-16 11:47
Yes
Uchiha-Itachi--2026-01-16 12:19
Thanks!
LowlySlayer2026-01-16 01:36
A cour is usually 12-13 episodes. It's a significant amount of time because it's the length of one season. Shows are rarely produced outside of a certain number of course because if it was say 17 episodes it would be stopping partway into a new season and the TV spot would be empty for the rest of the season. We use the word for seasons with multiple cours because saying "season 4 will be 5 seasons long" is confusing.
teateateateaisking2026-01-16 16:57
I think the British way of naming television, where you have a programme split into many "series", might be useful. By changing "season" as a unit of programming to a different word, you can keep "season" as a measure of placement within the year, which makes describing things easier.
UMP45isnotflat2026-01-16 23:20
Which is what we use cour for?
I dont think anyone actually confuses a season of an anime with the literal weather seasons
Fulminatus3142026-01-16 01:04
HOLY. So excited to see how far they get.
thebohster2026-01-15 21:45
People meme, but I thoroughly enjoyed the exposition from the meetings.
xWardz2026-01-15 22:12
I think the material is fine, it’s just the way they presented it that sucked. There are so many anime that take advantage of being an audio/visual media to make exposition or long sections of dialogue more interesting. Slowly panning around a conference room while characters talk for 20 min is always going to be boring no matter what they’re talking about
Atharaphelun2026-01-15 22:17
It's not just that. The biggest problem was that a lot of the meetings just completely rehashed and rephrased things that we already know and we've already just seen an episode ago or even just minutes ago. It is as if they are just rambling on and on like a broken record on the same things in order to fill up episode time.
bondsmatthew2026-01-15 23:26
Basically it, yeah. We had 6 episodes of meetings in a row with maybe 2-3 worth of info. We'd go through a meeting, and then in another location go through similar information. I'm sure they could have intercut much of it together and bounced between various countries
magumanueku2026-01-16 01:38
The ramblings were mostly pointless too. They would spent 3 episodes discussing an enemy that they would defeat in 10 minutes at most.
Choice_Dealer_17192026-01-15 22:46
Facts. Biggest proof of this is how the manga is received even when it covers the same content.
HowToGetName2026-01-15 22:52
Yeah there was one ep where they did a good job with it, but the other eps were presented in a dull manner.
Farmaceut72026-01-15 23:30
As someone who enjoyed the whole show and all of content of the meetings I have to agree that some of it was presented in a less intersting way. You can clearly see it in S3 once we change Arcs around ep13 where Rimuru goes to talk about his festival idea and that conversation has so much animation and different shots in it. Completely different from all the military/steategy meetings in the 1st cour of S3. I guess the director just didnt have the best idea of how to present the specific content of some scenes while doing some great work in other ones.
tanoshikuidomouyo2026-01-15 23:59
See Shoushimin for an example of how to handle this type of stuff really nicely.
Takerial2026-01-16 00:13
On top of that, it felt like they put more time into the meetings, while cutting back on the action, as well as the more humorous interactions.
scot9112026-01-16 00:19
Yep. As an example they were *a lot* better on that front for the second cour of S3 and the anime was instantly much better for it.
KDW32026-01-16 00:47
Today’s episode on JJK is a great example, it was entirely lore and exposition but Mappa made it visually interesting.
A-Cheeseburger2026-01-15 22:13
I mean the dialogue is good, but when something is pretty heavy on talking I think reading is better. I liked the anime but lately I’ve just read the manga
1000-MAT2026-01-15 23:06
Unfortunately, this kind of thing works better in a book than in audiovisual media.
NuttBuster48962026-01-15 23:20
Meetings are great, 3 episodes in a row drags on a bit
zool7142026-01-16 08:35
Yeah I get the meme and the hilarity of it. But it honestly didn’t bother me much. I guess if I enjoyed Farming Life In Another World, I won’t really be bothered about getting verbal updates and ideations for a settlement. Could it have been presented better ? Sure. Did it take away enjoyment from me as it is ? Not really
biggiebass132026-01-15 22:30
I'm halfway through season two so I got some catching up to do!
gvon892026-01-15 23:41
You are currently enjoying my favorite portion of the anime. Take it slow, april isnt for a long time
Fallcious2026-01-16 02:11
When you get older, 4 months passes in the blink of an eye.
gvon892026-01-16 02:14
And as you already know it, we're already about 2.5 months from season 4 lol
biggiebass132026-01-16 10:58
Impossible. I am enjoying it way too much to do that 😁
chrisman962026-01-15 22:34
Honestly didn't mind the meetings for as much as they are meme to death. Heard this arc is considered one of if not the best so I'm kinda hyped
Khallllll2026-01-16 00:43
Shit, im super hyped. Love me some tensei slime
lupoin52026-01-15 22:52
Excellent news! The last season was already excellent! I saw people complain about the meetings, but honestly, when I binged it at the end of the season, it didn't disturb me. I hope the next season keeps up the great work so far.
JoblessQA2026-01-15 23:11
Will this be the last season or manga is still ongoing and there will be season 5?
CyberJokerWTF2026-01-15 23:57
Manga is adapting the LN and is only at LN 11 now I believe. The anime stopped at 9, I think it’s likely that season 4’s first 2 cours will adapt Volumes 10-11, and the 3 other cours will adapt 12-16. Then there should be one more season with 5 cours to finish off the series with volumes 17-23
Twilight0532026-01-16 07:11
Judging by the length of the season we are likely to cover Rosso arc continued with Eastern Kingdom Arc which ends at LN15.
We still have LN16-23 to go, enough for another three seasons.
foxfoxal2026-01-15 23:17
Slime and Re:Zero together again lmao.
Deftallica2026-01-15 23:31
I stopped watching when Rimuru decided to teach kids magic in a school or something like that.
I can’t remember exactly where that happened, though. If I wanted to pick it back up, whereabouts does that take place?
Atharaphelun2026-01-15 23:36
That was around the end of the first season. The beginning of the second season goes back in time a bit to before the school thing then proceeds after. The offshoot, Slime Diaries, happens at roughly around the same time as the latter half of season 1 so it's best to watch it between seasons 1 and 2 of the regular series.
The third season is when it becomes utter shyte with the non-stop repetitive meetings.
Deftallica2026-01-16 00:46
Copy that, thank you

Not normally into this power fantasy OP protagonist stuff but gave this a shot and was somewhat enjoying it with the idea of banding all theseonster races and like naming stuff and a lot of the higher concept hints it dropped. But then it made the hot lizards into generic titty ninjas and now it is dead to me.
Fallcious2026-01-16 02:16
I found it interesting that the lizardmen diverged into two different types of Dragonewts when they evolved after being named. With the King's children, the princess became a hot human looking ninja and the prince became a more advanced lizardman. I want to know why, like is it directed in some way by the namer, but I'm sure it will never be explained.
porpoiseoflife2026-01-16 04:58
I read the webnovel, and Rimuru had absolutely no idea how that happened either. And given that it is pretty much all in his perspective, I'm betting that it just wasn't explained at all. Not sure about the LN version, though. There might have been more information in there.
Fallcious2026-01-16 05:36
Thank you for the insight!
__White_Wolf_2026-01-16 05:49
Evolution is influenced by the desires of both the Namer (Rimuru) and the Named (Gabiru, Souka). Souka, for example, was mesmerized by Souei when he visited the Lizardman swamp shortly before the battle against the Orc Lord. Thus, she wanted to become like him and work alongside him.
Gabiru's naming, on the other hand, was much more "random". Unlike his sister, Gabiru was already a Named Majin (by Gelmud). Rimuru named it subconsciously and Gabiru simply received the necessary magicules. Furthermore, Gabiru's aspiration initially was to become the leader of the Lizardman tribe, so he never pursued a human form.
Furthermore, Lizardman and Dragonewts are a bastardised version of Dragons (which are a bastardised version of True Dragons like Veldora). Indeed, Dragonewts are the descendents of Dragons that took a human form and had children with Humans. Lizardmen are essentially an even more bastardised version of Dragons whose dragon factor got diluted over time.
Fallcious2026-01-16 05:52
Thanks. I wondered if the named had any influence on it - I did notice that Souka was fascinated by Souei and clearly has unrequited affection for him now as his loyal student.
