Hi PositiveTraffic1598, it seems like you might be looking for new anime to watch!

The users of this subreddit came up with [a chart of anime recommendations for newcomers and veterans](https://i.redd.it/0w1v880jtq661.png) and [an awesome longer flowchart](https://i.redd.it/vdzlkodz19c71.png). Maybe you can find something there that you'll like \^.\^

This has to be a bait...

Ambitious_Crow_47742026-01-16 11:24

Nah you are right .. animation carries it a lot let's be honest here.. if he will see peak animation as his first anime he won't even bother watching a little older shows..

Pr1Zlar2026-01-16 11:31

The anime itself is dogsh*t and most people say the animation carries it, but in my opinion? Even the animations is dogsh*t how can you combine realistic and fictional animation and try to call it “good animation” ? Its not

Pr1Zlar2026-01-16 10:38

oh man there is like a million rec for u

Pr1Zlar2026-01-16 10:39

my personal top3

\-Vinland saga

rkwisajkh2026-01-16 10:40

Personally, i recommend Jojo's bizarre adventure. Very funny , epic, and interesting.

Anime is a quite broad term, there's a lot of very different animes out there. I recommend searching for something you like, it really depends on what you like. I personally started with just searching tags on some website.

Just use anidb, it has very good search engine.

Pr1Zlar2026-01-16 10:43

goated
but is it really the best choice for someone just starting ? maybe idk

ExaminationNo91862026-01-16 10:44

I recommend reading the countless other posts that ask "I never watched anime before....."...

Only if there was such a thing as scrolling through a sub reddit to read posts or shit, I don't know, something like a sub reddit post.

But you know, LOL, and LMAO and much of the laughing and the ho ho and the ha ha and the much laughing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summit_Chaser472026-01-16 10:46

I think Death Note would be a good start for you

smart_is_cool10202026-01-16 11:30

I agree , I personally started with death note and it really got me into anime since then .

Summit_Chaser472026-01-16 18:38

I used to watch Dragon ball after school. Some episodes of fights here and there
Didn’t knew it was called Anime back then .

Properly started with Death note.

smart_is_cool10202026-01-16 18:52

Yea i did watch dragon ball like very long back in similar manner but i nvr knew it was anime and mostly watched it that time cuz i heard abt it somewhere my actual proper anime journey started from death note.

Summit_Chaser472026-01-16 18:54

I hope it has been a good journey so far ✌️

smart_is_cool10202026-01-16 19:08

kyumi__2026-01-16 10:47

What genres do you like?

Bananaman90202026-01-16 11:29

Ops favorite (non anime) TV show or Film. To show us what they like.

LastGameBeasts2026-01-16 10:53

Attack on titan is the best anime to start with. Alot people started with it and since the whole anime is finished,it's perfect.

MPCO7772026-01-17 10:07

Its really good though and sets high expectations

usual_life022026-01-16 10:54

Attack on titan
Code Geass
Death note

CommanderZx22026-01-16 11:01

Anime is a medium and so we need genres you enjoy before recommending anime you may enjoy.

Haunting-Argument-162026-01-16 11:01

To get INTO anime the best ones i can suggest are
Attack on titan
Cyberpunk edgerunners
JJK.

Maybe reserve aot for later tho cuz after watching it ull feel like no other show on this planet can compete with its depth

Skwalou2026-01-16 11:10

Cowboy Bebop

vanidosoye2026-01-16 11:18

Few of my favorites

BOFURI: I Don't Want to Get Hurt, so I'll Max Out My Defense
Campfire Cooking in Another World with My Absurd Skill
Tsukimichi Moonlit Fantasy

Akagikin2026-01-16 11:34

It *really* depends on what you like/want.

Anlist, MAL, etc all have anime you can search by genre, rating, top 100 lists, etc. Find something that sounds good with a reasonably good rating and go from there. Personally, I'd suggest maybe one of these:

Action - Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood or Attack on Titan, My Hero Academia

Comedy - Saiki

Horror - Monster (I didn't like it but A LOT of people do), The Summer Hikaru Died

Mystery - Oshi no Ko, Detective Conan (warning - LONG, still ongoing)

Romance - Sasaki and Miyano, Horimiya

Slice of Life - Natsume Yuujinchou, March Comes in like a Lion

Or you could start with Ghibli movies.

VMK_19912026-01-16 11:39

Depends on what you want to watch.

More or less grounded action series? Cowboy Bebop, which is about bounty hunters in the near future (which mostly looks like our late 20th century, just in space).

A sci-fi with cyberpunk "things are bad" future? Cyberpunk: Edgerunners or Ghost in the Shell.

An action series about samurai? Samurai Champloo (modern-ish Hip Hop OST adds to its charm).

A Sci-Fi about time travel? Steins;Gate (the protagonist is cringe, but he grows out of it).

Cute romance? My Love Story, which is about a huge manly guy falling for a petite girly girl.

Eknowbateeb2026-01-16 12:06

If you want a really good story, Attack on Titan is easier to get into, especially since it tends to avoid a lot of anime-isms that turn a lot of people away from the medium. It’s also the best written series I’ve ever watched, anime or no, and you can really tell the author planned everything from the start since it all comes full circle. I showed my dad a few episodes, he doesn’t watch any anime at all, and before I knew it, he was done, despite my mom side eyeing us for “watch cartoons”. Death Note is similar in that regard and much shorter.

On the other hand, if you wanna turn your brain off just watch Jujutsu Kaisen or Demon Slayer. Demon Slayer especially is the Michael Bay Transformers of anime.

My personal favorite is Chainsaw Man. Just watch the first 2 episodes and see if you vibe with it.

Exotic_Assistance_262026-01-16 20:29

Parasyte has a bit of everything

Beneficial_Law_2862026-01-17 01:46

Watch "Full metal alchemist: brotherhood" it's a good entry level into anime imo, as it has a bit of everything and is well written and if you don't like that then watch some Studio Ghibli movies there is a reason why they are so beloved by many of all ages.

MPCO7772026-01-17 10:07

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. My favourite ending in anime, great for beginners, a bit of everything like action, sad, humor, and tension.
