With the manga being on hiatus they only have so much room but damn it’s disappointing to only get 10 episodes imo.
No_Following72172026-01-16 17:29
You want ten? Or do you want 24 crap episodes. Don't be the pressure.
Wild_Island_85892026-01-16 18:22
You are absolutely correct, I don't get why they are downvoting you. Do people wasnt another OPM S3 experience or smthn?
Cloffix2026-01-16 18:59
People want 24 quality episodes..... I would've prefered 10 great eps over 24 bad ones. But I also dont want to wait like another 4 years for the next arc (a really good one) to get adapted.
Wild_Island_85892026-01-16 21:16
Well it's one or another. We either get those episodes with quality and a little bit more time, or we get all of them at one with shit quality
Cloffix2026-01-16 21:18
The first anime took them 2 years for 28 eps. This time they had a bit more than 1 and a half. So most were expecting a bit more then 10. Especially 20-24 eps means they finish the next arc.
Wild_Island_85892026-01-16 21:25
Just because it has been 1 and a half year since the anime has ended, doesn't mean they started the production right after
And even "if" they started right after, doesn't mean the direction is going to be the same. We may have better animation compared to season 1 and most importantly they probably wanted to give the next arc it's own season as it's quite heavy
AntiBomb2026-01-17 00:06
No it's not one or the other. You talk like no 24 episode anime season can be good. Apothecary Diaries had a 24 episodes second season released less than a year after the first one and it was good. Jojo had 24 to 39 episodes a year until part 5 and it was good. Yes Frieren is more beautiful and better animated than those shows, but it also had more than twice the time only to produce less than half the episodes than Apothecary Diaries.
I know it takes time to make an anime as good as Frieren, but other very good animes are also made in less time and it is disappointing and unpleasant to follow a story at such a slow pace and in such small doses. Especially since according to manga readers, these 10 episodes will mostly be adapting slice of life content and no major arc.
Ok-Cod52542026-01-17 13:57
Well in this case, it's not just about the production of the anime, but the source material itself as a limiting factor... So even if the anime came out faster, you're still gonna have to reach a point of waiting if it too close to the manga.
Apothecary Diaries in contrast original source are Light Novels, and they got plenty to produce seasons more than this with manga. Each series may have its own circumstances for production, as to not simply equate them to each other.
PristineHornet99992026-01-16 19:26
yeah like....what gets released gets released and I'm not gonna whine or whatever but it really isn't a lot for how much time has passed, right? or maybe they'd been working on the first season since the manga's first year and it really did take that long, who knows
mobpiecedunchaindan2026-01-16 15:48
i'd rather get 10 really good, high quality episodes than the team burning themselves out but *damn*
Silent-Witness18882026-01-16 19:52
Should've just delayed the season.
Appropriate-Talk42662026-01-16 22:35
I think this has less to do with the Madhouse team and more to do with the manga publication pace
AdNecessary76412026-01-17 05:08
It's most likely both, in this context. Shingo Natsume's next film is coming soon(ish)
Appropriate-Talk42662026-01-17 16:18
Oh that's right, almost forgot about "Ghost"
notanfan2026-01-16 15:48
arc after this season is so good glad they are giving it enough time
notanfan2026-01-16 15:50
and arc after would make a very good movie
Ichini-san2026-01-16 15:57
I don't mind if they go the movie route but I just hope if they do then they take a page out of the Reze arc movie release schedule and just release it digitally very quickly globally after the initial theater run is over.
Florac2026-01-16 15:57
Isn't it pretty damn long for a movie?
Like for reference, Mugen train or demon slayer was 12 chapter long. The upcoming major arc 27, and frieren chapters tens to be longer
notanfan2026-01-16 15:58
\[manga arc name\]>!goddess monument arc is basically movie length!<
Florac2026-01-16 16:00
Of nvm, got confused
YoloJoloHobo2026-01-16 16:02
Yeah it's 28 chapters. For reference, Reze Arc was 14 ch. and Mugen Train was 16. Turning it into one movie would kill the pacing, especially since it had a lot of dialogue heavy parts. It would need a duology of 2hr long films imo but there isn't a good midpoint and the release schedule would be hell.
bondsmatthew2026-01-16 16:48
They're talking about the arc with 15 chapters(arc after the arc after this season if that makes sense)
YoloJoloHobo2026-01-16 16:49
Oh I forgot there was an arc between this one and [manga arc name]>!golden land!<
Edit: as per the Frieren wiki, there's only 16 chapters between the end of S1 and the [manga arc]>!golden land arc!< ?
Edit 2: nevermind I'm sleep deprived ignore all this
littlewillie6102026-01-16 19:51
Based on what I've heard, it sounds like the season will at least cover 20, possibly 21 chapters.
Irru2026-01-16 17:43
Chapter length means absolutely nothing without mentioning the pagecount.
_yukiie_2026-01-16 16:06
3-3.5 hours is a standart for blockbusters. Not that anime movies are in that level but honestly? If anything can pull this off, it's Frieren and the its next arc.
_yukiie_2026-01-16 16:04
A lot people will not a agree with you but I 100% do. Next arc is beatiful and no matter how long it is, it will be a masterpiece as a movie. I really want this to happen.
Kind-Capital34452026-01-16 16:57
Nahh, not good as a movie, the dialogues make the eldorado more interesting, much better the goddess monument arc, but still a 13 chapters with very long dik
Turbulent-Region33232026-01-16 17:56
But they are talking about the arc after the next arc
Djinn_sarap2026-01-16 17:14
Omg imagine seeing THAT scene in the cinema
notanfan2026-01-16 17:15
it would be so peak fr
inthe-otherworld2026-01-16 19:04
Nooo, I know movies make big bucks but not a movie!! I hate when a continuing series have a *movie* in between seasons which is mandatory to watch, it totally ruins the flow of watching. Just stick to episodes pleaaaassseeee. If you have to do that then do what Dandadan did and release three episodes or so in a cinema or something idk
hitmobilegamehsr2026-01-16 16:03
Gonne be cool when they give it to some random shitter studio and they'll ruin it
notanfan2026-01-16 16:17
frieren sells way too much for it to be ruined
bandannadann2026-01-16 16:26
That should have been the case for One Punch Man, which has over 35million manga volumes sold
Turbulent-Region33232026-01-16 17:58
Anime is made to sell manga.
If the Manga already sells some shitty producers and people not passionate will just not bother making good seasons. Moreover, season one of one punch man somewhat underperformed in terms of converting its anime success into manga/merch sales boost.
Tacomakj2026-01-16 18:13
Anime is no longer made to sell LN/manga, it's made to sell other merch. Gone are the days of 1 season animes that end on a cliffhanger for a 12 volume LN. There is a push in the industry to distribute globally and not stay limited to the Japanese market. It's no longer 2006
Turbulent-Region33232026-01-16 18:22
There was this heated debate regarding opm s3 on X and an actual animator, Evakoi, who works on a some greats shows like jjk, bleach, vinland saga had this to say:
>Anime is not really a source of money, it usually is made to sell manga, and in OPM case, the manga is
extremely popular, so they do not really bother
doing anime (thats why you have such a long
breaks betweens seasons). Season 1 was
insanely good, but it was driven by passion and
had very similar resources (though they had a
bit more time). Technically, production committee could make OPM s3 gathering the talent by just buying them for huge money, but it is huge loss and big companies do not usually operate like that.
Streaming gives very low profit, most of the
money comes from the screenings in cinema (as
people do not buy blu rays anymore), so thats
why you see so many premieres of TV shows in
movie theatres.
I do agree with the last half of your comment that yes anime is pivoting to global reach but its still true that manga and merch are still a big source of revenue and i dont think it has completely shifted to earning money from streaming. Especially as the tweet said that blu ray sales are somewhat decreasing.
Tacomakj2026-01-17 02:00
He is wrong
Severe_Working_59342026-01-16 18:06
One of Frieren's Lead producer is Nippon TV and the anime got huge views in Nippon TV. And Madhouse is a subsidiary of Nippon TV and they will not let it become shit.
hitmobilegamehsr2026-01-16 16:48
One punch man season 1 was extremely popular
Turbulent-Region33232026-01-16 17:58
But it didnt give a big boost to manga and merch sales.
ThatCreepyBaer2026-01-16 19:49
It did though. The volume released after the first season aired (volume 10) remains the most sold volume of the series at over 700k units sold, and that is a 200k+ jump from the sales of volume 9.
Not to mention volume 10 and even volume 11 sold more units in 3 days than volume 9 did in 6 days.
tyler9809082026-01-16 16:07
What would you say about the coming arc for season 2 is?
maliwanag07122026-01-16 15:49
So as expected they won't adapt the [Arc Name]>!El Dorado Arc!< yet.
TBF with the premiere, [Comment on the to-be-adapted chapters. No spoilers but its better to be safe.]>!no doubt these "cool down" chapters will be enhanced. Expecting that the anime will add some scenes to highlight or give emphasis.!<
disposable-assassin2026-01-16 16:05
That's too bad that arc won't make it into the 10 episodes. I'm so hype for it to be animated.
zxHellboyxz2026-01-16 15:51
[deleted]
Ichini-san2026-01-16 15:59
Honestly, I think it's neither. 10 episodes just makes a better cut-off point before the next arc starts.
YoloJoloHobo2026-01-16 16:05
Yeah, next arc after is *major* and could take a whole cour on its own. It makes sense they release this batch to not leave a long wait while focusing on the next arc.
disposable-assassin2026-01-16 16:07
Season 1 had 28 episodes so it's not like they're sticking to normal cour lengths in the first place.
YellowBunnyReddit2026-01-16 17:22
The first 4 episodes were released as a 2 hour special, so the season consisted of a 13 week cour and a 12 week cour.
tripleaamin2026-01-16 16:21
They definitely are aiming to put out new content for Frieren every 2 years. Makes 100% sense given the manga's hiatus issues.
Mitsuyan_2026-01-16 16:26
The timeslot was put there for Frieren. It will be 10 episodes for unrelated, probably strategic reasons
1000-MAT2026-01-16 15:54
It's better to go slowly than to go years without a new season, since the manga is being published at a very slow pace due to the authors' health.
42tfish2026-01-16 16:30
I expect an original movie between S2&3.
HarshTheDev2026-01-16 19:34
Original as in not adapting manga content?
42tfish2026-01-16 19:48
Yes as it would serve as an extra buffer for the slow manga release.
HarshTheDev2026-01-16 20:00
Lots of people in this thread are expecting that they would adapt whatever arc follows season 2 in the manga into a movie, would you mind telling me why you are expecting an original movie?
42tfish2026-01-16 20:23
To act as a buffer so that the anime won’t catch up to the manga too soon. Considering the slow manga release schedule this is a way to still stay relevant while still adding a buffer. Now a movie could just a likely happen after S3 instead but either way I would say a ova movie is likely.
Kirosh22026-01-16 20:26
A movie length might be awkward for the major arc following season 2.
That arc is longer than the entire 1st class mage exam, that took 11 episodes.
So, to adapt it at the same pace, it would have to be either several parts, or a 4h+ long movie.
They might do several parts, and then release those as episodes.
People were expecting to have it in this season at first, since what we are getting now and that arc would be around 22-24 episodes. But now, that arc and the rest of the chapters before the major current arc of the series, would also fit into it's own seasons.
So having an anime Original movie would allow to avoid having at least two movies made of that part, and allow for more time for the authors' health to get better without advancing the plot.
InspiroHymm2026-01-16 20:48
I think people were expecting that arc to be in s2.
But if s2 is 10 ep, that arc would be the entirety of s3. Then the arc after that is perfect for a movie
Kirosh22026-01-16 20:52
Yes, before the leaks of it being 10 episodes, most were expecting it to be a full 24 episodes.
And that arc would be great for a movie if it comes to it, as it's very self contained, even more since it wouldn't even be necessary to watch it to follow the following parts.
amd_hunt2026-01-16 21:26
> 4h+ long movie.
Eh, more likely two movies. And then might as well adapt the next arc into a movie, and then might as well split the rest of the manga into three or four movies. Assuming a turnover time of about three years per movie (extremely generous, given how long anime movies take to produce)...
See you in 2048 lol. Maybe the Demon Slayer movies were a mistake. I hope the industry doesn't get that greedy.
Montana_Gamer2026-01-17 10:24
Jesus, everyone is so quick to jump to everything being a movie.
It would NOT be a good 2 movie set, inconceivable as a decision..
BeatBlockP2026-01-17 01:22
But writing the plot for an entire movie is also laborious. I heard that the mangaka didn't post new chapters for 6 months while working on the anime. Presumably, they'll need to work on the script of a movie - it's considerable time and effort.
AuroraFinem2026-01-17 10:57
The mangaka wouldn’t be writing the script for the movie if its anime only. That’s the point they’re making.
If they want to avoid catching up on the source material too quickly they’ll need much longer between seasons or to add in filler content. An anime only movie does honestly sound like a decent way to give us something to make waiting longer for the next season easier, but who knows what they’re planning tbh.
7se72026-01-16 19:48
Correct
WAKE_UP_WAKE_UP2026-01-16 19:52
Yes, when an Anime Original movie is developed its usually non-canon and over seen by the mangaka. A lot of anime have these Anime Original movies/episodes like for example Naruto, Black Clover, My Hero etc.
Original content mostly indicates that the anime is catching up to the manga's contents and will use the opportunity to get something out while it gets sorted.
Ebo872026-01-16 21:51
No, movie will happen after season 3 and it won't be original. It will be an arc that's movie length and is currently hard to fit in future seasons, depending how long the currently ongoing arc in the manga will end up being.
But based on how they are splitting the stuff we thought would be one season into season 2 and 3, we're absolutely getting a movie after season 3.
AuroraFinem2026-01-17 10:59
I mean if they plan on doing that we’ll be waiting 4 years between releases or we’ll catch up and have to wait so long for enough to animate that it will lose all relevance.
An OVA movie is the most likely way to give time for source material to release where just adapting more source material into a movie doesn’t slow anything down. They’re extremely common nowadays
greeneggsnyams2026-01-16 18:49
Are there any healthy mangakas?
Weebs-Chan2026-01-16 18:53
These 2 words might be antinomic, seriously
CringeKage2222026-01-16 18:58
Hihoriko araki is the only one, but he is also an immortal vampire hammon user
HarshTheDev2026-01-16 19:35
Horikoshi (MHA) didn't really have any health complications if I'm remembering correctly.
Ok-Cod52542026-01-17 02:56
Nope, Horikoshi had some health issues to need frequent breaks for the last few years of the manga and reduced his page counts.
tootoohi12026-01-17 04:03
I was about to say I'm pretty sure my hero went on break at least once every 2 months.
DrStein10102026-01-21 00:43
Hori had MASSIVE health issues.
The last couple years of MHA was a mess because he was constantly too sick or injured to draw, but wouldn't/couldn't take a long hiatus to recover.
DaRootbear2026-01-17 02:58
Parts 1-2 are semi autobiographical for Araki.
ThisManNeedsMe2026-01-16 19:23
Yes. Hiro Mashima. Man has it down to a science. He did an interview a couple years ago saying he gets 7 hours of sleep a day and has time to game a couple hours before bed. I think at one point he was working on multiple projects at once too.
The reasons why are he actually delegates tasks to his assistants. He doesn't do everything himself unlike a bunch of other mangaka. He also has a simple art style that can be copied easily by his assistants and is quick to draw especially digitally. He also does the story board and rough draft at the same time. Plus he also touches grass often.
bravetailor2026-01-16 22:15
If you're gonna be fast, use a lot of assistants. If you're gonna do most of it yourself, do it slow.
And yes, I'm talking about work here. ;)
Hinote212026-01-17 00:55
He also fully recycles all of his character models. The little variation makes it much easier to have assistance. Not that that others shouldn't/can't have assistance, just that when it's the same 10 characters, it's a lot less complex.
LetgoLetItGo2026-01-16 21:26
Pretty sure this mangaka (Rent a Girlfriend) is doing it right. He has a solid setup and staff it looks like. Everyone seems super happy there too lol.
Which is the absolute opposite of his dumpster fire of a manga lol
zaxls2026-01-17 23:33
True but the art is still pretty amazing imo.
ShadowKingthe72026-01-17 07:32
I dont think he's the most mentally healthy though
Mountebank2026-01-16 22:22
Akasaka Aka was only working like 3-4 days a week and spending the rest playing Apex with VTubers even during the time where he was working on both Kaguya and Oshi no Ko at the same time.
Komorebi_LJP2026-01-16 22:40
But for Oshi he only does the story not the art
itsadoubledion2026-01-17 00:56
Next time he should do the concept and art and have somebody else finish the story up 😂
Shinkopeshon2026-01-16 23:19
Hajime Isayama was always on schedule and isn't known to have had any health issues
Granted, Shingeki came out monthly, but still
DoseofDhillon2026-01-17 04:38
Go Nagai is healthy as a horse.
littlewillie6102026-01-16 19:53
In this case, I would have preferred a longer season released a year later.
Komorebi_LJP2026-01-16 22:41
I mean with this pacing you also go years between seasons.
I do agree this is better though.
hitmobilegamehsr2026-01-16 16:02
Sad
Gr_zamasu2026-01-16 18:36
Man i’m just happy MadHouse is actually animating more than one season.
bravetailor2026-01-16 22:19
I hope they end up animating the whole thing however long it goes.
Of course the real concern seems to be if the mangaka has the stamina to even finish the series. There are a ton of manga I fell in love with that clearly will never finish because the mangaka is physically or mentally unable to anymore.
_yukiie_2026-01-16 16:13
I was expecting 20+ episode but I'm totally okay with this. I actually thought it was too soon anyway so it's relieving. It will be a healthy prodoction. We'll eventually get more and the quality will be same. That's a big win.
I was expecting the next arc though, that's the disappointing part. But now I am hyped for a possible movie. It would be 3-3.5 hours but the arc's so good that it'd be totatlly worth it. I hope it comes true.
amd_hunt2026-01-16 17:50
> But now I am hyped for a possible movie. It would be 3-3.5 hours but the arc's so good that it'd be totatlly worth it. I hope it comes true.
My guy, the [longest animated movie in history](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_longest_animated_films) did not even break three hours. What makes you think the team can just casually pop out a 3 - 3.5 hours long movie? Unless you want them to crunch the fuck out of the animators, or cut out a metric shit ton of content, you are looking at a 4-year long wait for a movie, minimum. I know you're a r/boxoffice regular, but do you really want that?
EDIT: Turns out, the longest ever animated film was a fucking ROBLOX FILM ([full version is on youtube](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WSqN45b27M8)). The longest conventionally animated film is the extended cut of In This Corner (and Other Corners) of the World by MAPPA at 2hr 48mins.
_yukiie_2026-01-16 17:56
If the final product will be worth it? Totally. I'll wait. That part of the manga is just very special. With a well crafted movie, only limit is the sky. Believe me.
amd_hunt2026-01-16 18:00
You are asking for something that's never been done before. Expect either no movie, or a 2 hour movie with a lot of cut content, or two movies that finish production around 2032. No offense, but I'd rather just have a well-crafted TV show, like season 1. I'd like to catch up to the manga before 2040.
_yukiie_2026-01-16 18:07
Just because it never happened before doesn't mean it won't ever happen. I doubt they will cut content. It's either all in or nothing. I agree it's not likely but if they go for a movie I'm sure it will be at least 3 hours. They won't butcher Frieren.
Probably just another season and after that a 2 hours movie. The arc after that is suitable for it.
ShielderKnight2026-01-16 16:15
This is good, I am hoping for the 2 arcs after this to be season 3
Cally832026-01-16 16:34
Would have loved to have another 20+ episode season, but I realise this arc is before a big one with lots happening.
I along with the rest of us will enjoy every episode, I’m sure.
aes1102026-01-16 16:40
Damn, no ED arc this season I guess. It would be too much, gotta say what they have up to that is good but no way near as excited i was for ed

TemptedTemplar2026-01-16 23:43
Realistic pacing. They are walking halfway across a continent after all.
itsadoubledion2026-01-17 01:00
They should take some notes from Gendry about running in the North
MyToastyToast2026-01-16 17:26
I can’t find the source but I read somewhere they the Frieren team is going to be working on a movie for a different LN/manga, if true meaning these 10 episodes are it from now until 2029 at least. Does anyone have any information about this to verify?
krfz412026-01-16 18:00
Looks like [the animation producer of Frieren](https://anilist.co/staff/156867/Yuuichirou-Fukushi) is working on an original anime movie "ghost" scheduled for 2027. So it may very well mean that the staff members who worked on Frieren with him at Madhouse are working on the movie as well.
MyToastyToast2026-01-16 18:12
Thank you. Here’s hoping it’s not too interrupting of the season 3 production
hikoboshi_sama2026-01-16 17:45
So this next arc is sufficiently covered by 10 episodes? Cinderella Gray season 2 from the last season is in a similar case.
Turbulent-Region33232026-01-16 18:01
Yeah. Its a pretty chill winding down arc so it should not be a problem
amd_hunt2026-01-16 17:54
After the pretty successful year that anime films had, I see a lot more people asking for anime movies for every franchise. I wouldn't mind a movie in-between seasons or a movie to end a series, but asking for multiple back-to-back movies is just asking for adaptations to drag on for decades without ending. You guys saw what happened to Haikyuu!, right? Final chapter of the manga ended in 2020 and it looks like the production committee will drag out the anime until 2040 with movies.
Chance-Range28552026-01-16 18:47
Thats good they really need to slow down else they catch up to manga
ThatCreepyBaer2026-01-16 19:53
Were people really expecting another season of 20+ episodes? I haven't been "in the know" regarding Frieren since the first season, but was that even a realistic expectation?
As an anime-only I was expecting 12 and am, of course, disappointed that its less but it's only 2 episodes.
InspiroHymm2026-01-16 20:51
I think people's expectations were skewed by Apothecary Diaries, which had 2 consecutive seasons of 24 episodes
Especially since Frieren and Maomao S1 aired in the same season
oTc_DragonZ2026-01-16 21:20
I understand it and want the show to be as high quality as possible but it still sucks how TV shows in general release a fraction of the episodes that they used to.
darkmacgf2026-01-16 21:41
It'll be nice if this manages to settle into being a yearly or so production if the seasons are this short.

It’s weird that I’ll ever say this, but you couldn’t fill out two episodes of filler? Make an even 12 and also just give us more. I would love to random slice of life episodes with our crew.
nezeta2026-01-17 12:19
Good idea but who would write those filler episodes? Both of the authors are apparently battling an illness.
EnthusiasmOnly222026-01-17 00:28
Why are DVD still separate, like who in Japan is willing to spend $400 for 4 episodes but doesn’t own a cheap Bluray player or old PlayStation

This does also explain the turnaround time between Seasons.
I was somewhat questioning how we would get season 2 so quickly and still keep the quality from season 1.

Now this explains why some people expected we might have a movie instead of an S2, but 200+ minutes is still too long to fit it into a movie (DS Infinite Castle is 155 mins). A 10-episode season is the best decision to cook it.

10 is a bit disappointing but I'd rather give the author time to recover and the animators a life outside of their desk.

And even "if" they started right after, doesn't mean the direction is going to be the same. We may have better animation compared to season 1 and most importantly they probably wanted to give the next arc it's own season as it's quite heavy
Apothecary Diaries in contrast original source are Light Novels, and they got plenty to produce seasons more than this with manga. Each series may have its own circumstances for production, as to not simply equate them to each other.
Like for reference, Mugen train or demon slayer was 12 chapter long. The upcoming major arc 27, and frieren chapters tens to be longer
Edit: as per the Frieren wiki, there's only 16 chapters between the end of S1 and the [manga arc]>!golden land arc!< ?
Edit 2: nevermind I'm sleep deprived ignore all this
If the Manga already sells some shitty producers and people not passionate will just not bother making good seasons. Moreover, season one of one punch man somewhat underperformed in terms of converting its anime success into manga/merch sales boost.
Not to mention volume 10 and even volume 11 sold more units in 3 days than volume 9 did in 6 days.
TBF with the premiere, [Comment on the to-be-adapted chapters. No spoilers but its better to be safe.]>!no doubt these "cool down" chapters will be enhanced. Expecting that the anime will add some scenes to highlight or give emphasis.!<
But if s2 is 10 ep, that arc would be the entirety of s3. Then the arc after that is perfect for a movie
And that arc would be great for a movie if it comes to it, as it's very self contained, even more since it wouldn't even be necessary to watch it to follow the following parts.
It would NOT be a good 2 movie set, inconceivable as a decision..
If they want to avoid catching up on the source material too quickly they’ll need much longer between seasons or to add in filler content. An anime only movie does honestly sound like a decent way to give us something to make waiting longer for the next season easier, but who knows what they’re planning tbh.
Original content mostly indicates that the anime is catching up to the manga's contents and will use the opportunity to get something out while it gets sorted.
But based on how they are splitting the stuff we thought would be one season into season 2 and 3, we're absolutely getting a movie after season 3.
An OVA movie is the most likely way to give time for source material to release where just adapting more source material into a movie doesn’t slow anything down. They’re extremely common nowadays
The last couple years of MHA was a mess because he was constantly too sick or injured to draw, but wouldn't/couldn't take a long hiatus to recover.
And yes, I'm talking about work here. ;)

Granted, Shingeki came out monthly, but still
I do agree this is better though.
Of course the real concern seems to be if the mangaka has the stamina to even finish the series. There are a ton of manga I fell in love with that clearly will never finish because the mangaka is physically or mentally unable to anymore.
I was expecting the next arc though, that's the disappointing part. But now I am hyped for a possible movie. It would be 3-3.5 hours but the arc's so good that it'd be totatlly worth it. I hope it comes true.
Probably just another season and after that a 2 hours movie. The arc after that is suitable for it.
I along with the rest of us will enjoy every episode, I’m sure.
As an anime-only I was expecting 12 and am, of course, disappointed that its less but it's only 2 episodes.
Especially since Frieren and Maomao S1 aired in the same season
I was somewhat questioning how we would get season 2 so quickly and still keep the quality from season 1.
