Huh?
WowiiZowii2026-01-16 17:14
Pewdiepie is great, fuck the haters
Late_Pirate_51122026-01-16 17:37
Pewdiepie is cringe and only got into anime when it became popular.
As a righteous gatekeeper, I cannot like anything related to him.
Ok-Talk-25792026-01-16 18:01
Sometimes I look at memes of typical loser anime watchers and I’ll be like “there’s no way people are actually like that in real life” and then I’ll see one out in the wild (love anime btw).
guensan1672026-01-16 18:10
If these people ever come to Japan and see how anime is pretty much a normie thing they would fucking explode
Paks-of-Three-Firs2026-01-16 18:23
Well, first, they would have to get over the fact that people in Japan don't actually talk the way they do in anime lol
WowiiZowii2026-01-16 18:13

KrypticJin2026-01-16 19:28
A great racist
Taco__Hell2026-01-16 19:54
I am seriously shocked that the majority of this thread is saying otherwise. He has a long, well documented history of being a piece of shit. Bridge incident, anti indian rhetoric, nazi "jokes", etc cetera. Maybe he's changed but I'm not going to celebrate him because he has done a lot of damage given his following.
genasugelan2026-01-16 20:05
So throughout his 15-year career he made a handful of ironic jokes that can be perceived as "racist" and that is his "well-documented history of being a POS". I find it hard to believe you'd match your own standards.
CanadianNoobGuy2026-01-16 20:18
I mean if calling someone the N word is an ironic joke to you then idk what he could do to make you call him racist
iad82lasi23syx2026-01-16 17:15
There's a surprising amount of r/anime relevant content in this one.
It's basically 20 minutes of looking into the process of making Anime with examples from attack on titan, going through key animation, coloring, background art and in-betweens, and short talks with Wit Studio staff.
Paks-of-Three-Firs2026-01-16 18:24
Really glad a small time channel got such a chance 😉
Gregariouswaty2026-01-16 18:46
He is a small time channel at this point. Dude makes weird tech videos these days.
ThatCreepyBaer2026-01-16 19:41
I wouldn't go that far lol. Despite his monstrous sub count that he retained from his heyday, he still maintains like 2-5 million views per video.
ncopp2026-01-16 20:26
That's actually surprising. For that many consistent views, I'd assume we'd hear about him a bit more.
He really must just be laying low after his controversies (checks notes) 10 years ago (goddamn time flies)
IFapToCalamity2026-01-16 20:28
Laying low… on Youtube…?
UnknownBreadd2026-01-16 20:56
He doesn’t have a regular upload schedule and just makes random videos based on his personal interests at the time. He’s not trying to grow or do anything in particular with his channel or ‘brand’. Just making passion videos and collecting whatever money they throw at him along the way (although i personally find his paid sponsorship segments quite jarring).
Wolfzy_2026-01-16 21:03
I mean he is retired doing what he likes, probably a dream come true for him
Black_Prince90002026-01-16 22:48
He made enough money and chose peace instead of chasing more. Unlocked the true happy ending.
scot9112026-01-17 01:43
Yep. He's basically semi-retired now and mostly spends time with Marzia, Bjorn and his hobbies which he occasionally uploads videos on. His Vlog vids that Marzia edits are honestly extremely wholesome and the highlight of his channel now IMO.
Gregariouswaty2026-01-16 21:21
Dude's mostly retired, his videos are just stuff that interests him and family vlogs which I suspect is mostly for his kid when he grows up.
Kardiackon2026-01-16 21:56
?? no he's just living his life as a dad and making videos for fun. it's really not that complicated, I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that he's "laying low" for shit that happened 10 years ago, like you literally said lmao
biskutgoreng2026-01-17 00:33
He uploads like once a month
Kardiackon2026-01-16 20:18
didn't know getting millions of views consistently on each video is considered "small time" now but hey maybe we live in different times
polmeeee2026-01-17 11:50
Is a running joke that he is a "small time" creator.
Chimera-Genesis2026-01-16 19:56

Anime Man and Gigguk have also made videos tour of anime studios before as well, these tour videos are so informative and educational.
Brad32026-01-16 18:14
Why is this downvoted? It's actual content you don't get to see and he doesn't act like a douche.
StoicSparrows2026-01-16 18:57
He hasn’t acted like a loud YouTuber for many years at this point. He’s very mature these days.
MrWaluigi2026-01-16 19:24
As far as I can remember, he was the only content creator that was genuinely independent. Wasn’t always chasing algorithms, or any BS what current YouTube is. Was also usually on the community side when the website/adverts starts doing dubious things.
It probably also helped that he accidentally crossed some lines and immediately regretted it. Regardless, he knows he wasn’t able to keep up with the times, so I respect that he “retired” instead of going down “The Way of the Beast.”
10minOfNamingMyAcc2026-01-16 19:46
Yeah. I was never a fan but he was definitely one of the most normal ones.
LunarGhost002026-01-16 19:57
"You either die a Pewdiepie, or you live long enough to see yourself become a MrBeast."
Jokes aside, even though I haven't watched in years, I'm happy to see him still doing occasional updates of his life. The man made a fortune and now lives a pretty quiet and peaceful life away from all drama along with his wife and kid while being free to pursue whatever hobbies he wants. Hard to find a better success story than that among content creators.
FesteringAnalFissure2026-01-16 20:27
>make videos and become popular
>make generational amounts of money
>have a family

It's literally that easy, but the last part is seemingly difficult for a lot of YouTubers
God_peanut2026-01-16 20:58

AL2009man2026-01-16 20:04
also "semi-retired" from Content Creation
KrimxonRath2026-01-16 20:36
Seems like he had a turning point after that Nazi thing he made people do. I don’t remember the context other than him paying people to say or do something in a prank. Stopped paying attention to him after that, but what I do see nowadays is thankfully positive.
StoicSparrows2026-01-16 20:47
It was a joke which admittedly was probably in poor taste. He was in his 20s at the height of his career. He also has said that he struggled with a drinking problem back then. In the realm of famous young YouTubers he really pivoted and learned from his mistakes. None were irredeemable. He’s been a very positive influence on the internet for a long time now. People who think otherwise are too immature to realize that everyone does dumb shit, we’re human. And he’s really proven to be a good one.
Edit: someone reported this for self-harm. Nice one 👍🏻
KrimxonRath2026-01-16 20:51
Admittedly lol
There’s a lot of loaded wording in that comment that I unfortunately don’t have the time to unpack right now. I wouldn’t admonish people for not paying attention to him after that event.
StoicSparrows2026-01-16 20:53
Yes I’m admitting as a long time Pewdiepie fan who defended him at the time that it was poor taste. Part of me growing up as well. I’m the same age as Pewdiepie. Been watching him through it all.
RollinOnAgain2026-01-16 21:18
These people act like they never told dead baby jokes in grade school lol.
I mean ffs there is an entire documentary dedicated to a joke designed to be as offensive as possible that got famous for how horrible it was (The aristocrats)

Redditors being redditors i guess
Raidoton2026-01-17 14:59
There is nothing more "redditor" than crying about downvotes though.
shak_05082026-01-16 19:15
Feel like this sub in particular is very trigger happy with downvotes for some reason. Like I’ve seen posts get downvoted within a minute of posting.
UMP45isnotflat2026-01-16 20:07
It is, honestly I never liked this subs culture at large, but some of the community events and long timers here are cool
Waiting404Godot2026-01-16 20:36
Any videos shared are insta downvoted on this sub unless it’s from an established creator, and even then people will still downvote.
This sub wants people to talk about anime while simultaneously downvoting the people that do. But hey, at least we will have another “recommended me an anime” post.
MeatballZeitgeist2026-01-17 01:12
I would argue that reddit as a whole has become much more mean, angry, and judgmental since the API blackouts. I basically expect downvotes by default these days on any submission unless I post something extremely safe.
notathrowaway752026-01-16 19:30
This subreddit doesn't care about YouTubers anymore.
JustToViewPorn2026-01-16 19:38
In before the mods close this for saying Attack on Titan is not relevant to anime because it ended 2 years ago.
zairaner2026-01-16 19:57
Every post is downvoted at first. Youtube videos making it to positive upvotes are very rare.
fnordal2026-01-16 21:10
I never followed pews during his fame time, started after he moved to Japan. I find his content wholesome and interesting.
minnieboss2026-01-16 21:56
Probably because of his reputation of constantly saying the n word
Beneficial_Soup36992026-01-16 22:57
Shhh you're not supposed to remember things, you're supposed to just glaze the rich guy like everyone else!!
ThaOppanHaimar2026-01-17 03:17
Because Pewdiepie is a far-right adjacent content creator.
gabbydodjer2026-01-17 03:50
He's the Voldemort of Certain Echo Chambers on Reddit. Expect to get a Migraine reading the Comments.
axw302026-01-16 18:25
It shows lots of process in the making of an anime
detarameReddit2026-01-16 18:25
This was a pretty neat video, honestly. It is a great look at the work behind anime production. Heck, it puts the incredible drawing speed of animators into perspective better than anything else I have seen before. I have no idea why it is getting downvoted.
Lumpy_Percentage_3652026-01-16 19:34
Reading some comments here gave me a migraine.
Audrey_spino2026-01-16 19:39
Mfs stuck on small controversies from literally over half a decade ago on a practically retired Youtuber, some people really need some companionship in their life.
kavalorian2026-01-16 20:27
>from literally over half a decade ago
To be fair this is the first time i'm interacting with PewDiePie content since the antisemitism/"adpocalypse" thing and before that it was when he said the n-word on a stream or something?
I don't remember the order these things happened, tbh.
I just wasn't the target audience for his content (i'm guessing like 12/15 year olds in 2012). I'm old as hell relatively speaking.
This video was pretty good though.
Audrey_spino2026-01-16 20:55
You can watch his current videos if you want some chill Japan vlogs from the perspective of a Western family living there. Other than that he's practically retired and a Youtuber of a bygone indie era where you could make it big without selling out to a dozen megacorps and thinly veiled pyramid schemes, so there's an element of nostalgia as well for old Youtube users.
kavalorian2026-01-16 21:02
Yeah i'm just finding out he moved to Japan, that's pretty interesting. I only really follow "Life Where I'm From" for Japan stuff and he posts very infrequently, i'll check it out ^^^after ^^^i ^^^make ^^^sure ^^^he ^^^isn't ^^^a ^^^weird ^^^racist ^^^nazi.
PlantainRepulsive4772026-01-17 06:23
Was his target audience as a kid, but after some time it wasn't for me. Until he moved to Japan. Started watching him again. His Japan vlog videos are super chill and great, but most importantly, his art journey video is fantastic and great inspiration for people wanting to get into art.
Aki0080352026-01-17 09:30
Half? Make it a full decade ago.

Lumpy_Percentage_3652026-01-16 18:58
PewDiePie has come a long way.
MakaButterfly2026-01-16 19:02
Didnt he slow down and basically put out content at his own pace? For the sake of his family?
Good on him if true
DidYouFloss2026-01-16 19:39
For me he is the GOAT youtuber, not necessarily in content but on how he managed his career. He reached the peak in the space and decided to slow it down to enjoy life and be there for his family. When it feels like big youtubers either become full corporate or completely burned out, I feel like pewdiepie managed it the best.
HP-Sahyu-2026-01-17 04:29
Reminds me of Outdoor boys but One Piece length.
genasugelan2026-01-16 20:00
Yeah he uploads a vlog like once a month or something and a lower-effort video about every second week.
UMP45isnotflat2026-01-16 20:06
Yeah has been for a few years now, basically ever since he became a dad
Phd_Pepper-2026-01-16 20:38
Yeah he started putting time to learn to draw too.
skeeeper2026-01-16 21:35
Yeah, years ago lmao
Jazs19942026-01-17 12:59
He retired like that after his backlog of videos were used up after moving to Japan, way before marzia was publicly known to be pregnant

Lulguy182026-01-17 10:04

JMTHEFOX2026-01-16 19:37

Zandercy422026-01-16 19:48
I never watched PewDiePie but I'm loving his art journey over the last couple years
SmileyTheSmile2026-01-16 19:51
If there's one takeaway you should get from Felix's video, it's that you never know what trying out a new thing, seemingly for no benefit to yourself, would do for you in the far-off future.
Still hard for me to adopt this mindset, sadly.
imatunaimatuna2026-01-17 04:57
I began learning Japanese a couple of months ago. I went to Japan last month, and I was barely able to communicate and read signs, but nonetheless I was able to. Now I have my eyes set on learning Chinese, Korean, and French, probably in that order, once I am able to comfortably communicate in Japanese. I already have Spanish under my belt. Completely fluent.
I also drew for about 1 year and I went from stick figures to drawing something straight out of an anime.
Honestly, my best advice is to just ignore motivation. Too many people don't "feel" like doing something new, and that's usually the underlying problem. You should never have to "feel" like doing anything. You just do it. Motivation comes later, and sometimes that motivation hits you after a year or so. I don't exactly find the process of learning something new to be something I look forward to. I do it because I made it a part of my routine. I neither look forward to it nor hate it. I just want to learn to draw, no more, no less.
Fast forward to now, and even though I don't draw as much, I'm so surprised I can... you know, draw. Like, dang... I did this? Without a prompt? Like... I can do this, in front of people, literally, in real-time. It's a pretty sick feeling ngl lol
Impressive-Dig-38922026-01-16 19:53
Reminder to watch Shirobako, Girlish Number, Cue!, and Zenshu
TheBusStop122026-01-16 20:49
Add **"Keep your hands off eizouken"** (about creating anime, a lot of references to Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki) and **"Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun"** (about creating manga, specifically shojo manga) to that list
SolomonBlack2026-01-17 09:10
Eizouken has pointed lessons about dreams meeting production realities every nerd should take to heart.
Infodump_Ibis2026-01-16 21:31
Can I add Animation Runner Kuromi? (real old one, that)
SmileyTheSmile2026-01-16 23:11
Tf is Zenshu doing here?.. It's only tangentially related to the animation process.
RaunchyRoll2026-01-17 01:37
If anyone want to see the old process of cell animation episode 6 of Golden Boy is also one of the best episodes that showcases it
UMP45isnotflat2026-01-16 20:09
Wow didn't realise how much this sub hates Felix. Thx for reminding me why I avoided this place like the plague for years.
bagman_2026-01-16 22:43

CareerLegitimate76622026-01-17 12:11

greeneggsnyams2026-01-16 20:13
I love that Felix's content has aged at the exact same pace as me
BadBoySupremo2026-01-16 20:34
Such a cool thing for him to showcase on his channel. In this day where everyone is neglecting the creative effort that goes into making art, I hope this will inspire more to take up a pen and start trying to draw themselves!
Rude_Minute_44892026-01-16 20:41
This comment section really shows the echo chamber some Redditors live in.
Amazing vid by Pewds and I always love seeing these kinda of videos from content creators that know and respect the media.
Gigisunny242026-01-16 21:15
I think the haters are still using Internet Explorer to get their news lol.
Agreed though this vid was insightful. Would like to see more of this kind of content.
OverlyLenientJudge2026-01-16 22:09
I keep seeing comments ITT about what an echo chamber people are in, but none of the comments they're commenting on. Which makes it seem like an echo chamber of people complaining about echo chambers.
AquaTech1012026-01-17 10:34
Let me introduce you to this neat little thing called "Sort by: Controversial"
JesusInStripeZ2026-01-16 21:11
The irony here in people being downvoted for saying he's a Nazi/right-winger [because downvoters aren't aware of even half the stuff he said/did](https://www.reddit.com/r/Gamingcirclejerk/s/EpvbNSPIFk)
JellyfishDapper372026-01-16 21:22
you got a point but i forgive him i just dont ilke how they decline this information even tho its a fact. I just think its heathly for you and me to forgive
ValtenBG2026-01-16 22:42
As much as I'd like to take your point seriously, I can't. Especially after you linked a r/gamingcirclejerk post of all things.
JellyfishDapper372026-01-16 22:44
im curious why cant you take it seriously?
ValtenBG2026-01-16 22:51
1. R/Gamingcirclejerk
2. The post is 4yo, bringing up things that happened years before the linked post itself was created.
3. Who even takes a random reddit comment seriously in the first place?
Gacha_Father12026-01-16 21:23
The video does a good job in how much work goes into anime. The absolute dedication, the hard work that goes into this.
I hope, sincerely, that all of them know how much they are cherished if not by their bosses, but by the fans. Wow.
kjloltoborami2026-01-16 21:33
Pewdiepie is
-Learning to draw(really well)
-touring anime studios
-his favorite manga is BLAME!
-hes absolutely loaded
Dare I hope fellow BLAME! fans?
JaphetSkie2026-01-17 05:05
Only if he can convince Nihei and Polygon Pictures.
Or if he gives TIMMORTAL a blank cheque, since the guy is already making a 8-minute fan animation.

I don't personally watch PewDiePie but I think most people who don't like him simply don't like him because of his success, what I can genuinely understand. But then at least be not the monkey and spend your time hating on him just because you personally don't like him.
Cheetah3572026-01-16 21:53
Oh wow I thought he fully retired. I guess we’ll see some videos from him here and there
Aki0080352026-01-17 09:42
He don't really do YouTube as a job anymore. In that sense, he's retired. He just uploads vlogs occasionally for fun.
aed4n922026-01-16 22:25
I'm glad to see he's kept up with his drawing and how exciting it must have been to visit such an elite studio. He's come a long way in general and it seems he's just happily doing side quests now and being a family man.
dafo4462026-01-16 22:25
It's so funny Wit studio drag an artist to do animation for the first time right at their studio, and prop to pewd actually keep up the challenge.
Fattest_loser2026-01-16 22:48
Haven't seen his vid for a couple years ago now but I'm glad he's doing fine. His art journey is pretty amazing.
ebd27572026-01-16 22:48
I love Pewds' art videos. Made me remember how fun it is to learn about drawing.
Jai1372026-01-17 04:49
Last year
PewDiePie: yeah, instead of using AI, I'm gonna learn to draw on my own
This Year
Mappa: draw for us
(Yeah, it's probably a stunt, but it's nice to know how just practicing instead of relying on AI improved him)

My World that AoT themed painting, made by the actual people behind AoT, of himself that he got at the end is a GENERATIONAL GIFT!

Watched this video earlier. I've seen many behind the scenes/studio tour videos before, but this turned out to be more like a "noob vs pro" video. Very impressed he manage to whip out an animation on like that (missing legs notwithstanding).

Bro is truly enjoying his semi retirement, he's a dad now and can still pick up new hobbies he's always wanted to try. I'm very envious, his current life appears to be filled with peace, love and productivity. He's living the dream.

Advice for mods, sort by controversial and start banning.
Type people nobody sane wants to interact with as far as the eye can see.

Gotta love seeing Wit Studio make time for such a small time youtuber

As a righteous gatekeeper, I cannot like anything related to him.

It's basically 20 minutes of looking into the process of making Anime with examples from attack on titan, going through key animation, coloring, background art and in-betweens, and short talks with Wit Studio staff.
He really must just be laying low after his controversies (checks notes) 10 years ago (goddamn time flies)
Do you really think anything but a channel of his reach would be given such an opportunity?
It probably also helped that he accidentally crossed some lines and immediately regretted it. Regardless, he knows he wasn’t able to keep up with the times, so I respect that he “retired” instead of going down “The Way of the Beast.”
Jokes aside, even though I haven't watched in years, I'm happy to see him still doing occasional updates of his life. The man made a fortune and now lives a pretty quiet and peaceful life away from all drama along with his wife and kid while being free to pursue whatever hobbies he wants. Hard to find a better success story than that among content creators.
>make generational amounts of money
>have a family
>retire to the other side of the world
>all while sending absolutely zero DMs to children
It's literally that easy, but the last part is seemingly difficult for a lot of YouTubers
Lol.
Edit: someone reported this for self-harm. Nice one 👍🏻
There’s a lot of loaded wording in that comment that I unfortunately don’t have the time to unpack right now. I wouldn’t admonish people for not paying attention to him after that event.
I mean ffs there is an entire documentary dedicated to a joke designed to be as offensive as possible that got famous for how horrible it was (The aristocrats)
This sub wants people to talk about anime while simultaneously downvoting the people that do. But hey, at least we will have another “recommended me an anime” post.
EDIT: I was being /s guys.
Good on him if true
Still hard for me to adopt this mindset, sadly.
Amazing vid by Pewds and I always love seeing these kinda of videos from content creators that know and respect the media.
Agreed though this vid was insightful. Would like to see more of this kind of content.
2. The post is 4yo, bringing up things that happened years before the linked post itself was created.
3. Who even takes a random reddit comment seriously in the first place?
I hope, sincerely, that all of them know how much they are cherished if not by their bosses, but by the fans. Wow.
-Learning to draw(really well)
-touring anime studios
-his favorite manga is BLAME!
-hes absolutely loaded
Dare I hope fellow BLAME! fans?
Or if he gives TIMMORTAL a blank cheque, since the guy is already making a 8-minute fan animation.
\-built his own Super Computer and use it to help cancer research
PewDiePie: yeah, instead of using AI, I'm gonna learn to draw on my own
This Year
Mappa: draw for us
(Yeah, it's probably a stunt, but it's nice to know how just practicing instead of relying on AI improved him)
