I have a theory on Solo Leveling
so this is specifically for the anime... I've never played any of the games nor have I read the manga.
\*\*\*SPOILERS\*\*\*
IT'S technically an isakai? here's what I'm saying... when Jinwoo goes to the "Demon realm" or whatever it's called, he's traveling to a world that was destroyed by the gates. think about it... when he travels there, it is just ruined city upon ruin City. so what if, the gates opened in that dimension, that reality, and their hunters weren't strong enough to stop them all so eventually the monsters took over. then once they finished that land, they are starting to take over our reality.
what Jinwoo is doing is trying to stop the gates from destroying his reality. so he's killing all of these "demons"which could be a mix of hunters who ended up getting turned into monsters and demons themselves.
I don't know... I just thought, I saw the monster that he has tusk fight when he first gets tusk and it made me think that it was a giant monster version of the homunculus... The daughter and the dog from FMA... and then I thought that maybe it's, kind of like fire Force and death eater, prequel or sequel to another magic based anime... and then my mind went to "oh, no, he's in another reality that was destroyed by the gates and now the gates have come to his reality and his job is to stop the gates from destroying his reality like they did the one he's in."
TLDR; When Jinwoo goes to the demon Tower dimension, it's actually another reality that was destroyed by the gates because they didn't have strong enough hunters to stop the gates.

Also, Jinwoo isn't trying to stop the gates from destroying his reality. At first he was doing it for money for his mothers treatments. Then he was doing it to cure his mother, now he does it to continue to grow his power out of an apparent desire to see how far he can go. But, he has started to care about people outside his family, so I'm sure his drive to gain strength is also at least partly about protecting the people he cares about.
It could be a game that does affect different realities. I'm still in the process of watching and and categorizing everything in my brain. Plus yeah, I started from season 2 since I already finished the whole series, so there's probably a lot of context that I have forgotten and just didn't see because I didn't rewatch season 1.
>Also, Jinwoo isn't trying to stop the gates from destroying his reality.
I didn't mean him actively doing this... I meant the system is essentially getting him to do this but he has his own motivations to fight.
