Most Visually Striking Anime?
\-- Of each decade / year?
Every few years you can see how there is a "general" homogeneous style of Anime, but there are always outliers, and the past few years have been the best for this sterilization.
What are the most out there styles from previous decades? (ex: Mononoke, Ping Pong, The Tatami Galaxy)

Mononoke, Ping Pong, The Tatami Galaxy...Fate?
That said, the OP could have saved everyone’s time by asking more clearly. Instead of “Most Visually Striking Anime?” they could have said, “Tell me recent anime with distinct or unique art styles”.
Vague programming creates bugs, abstract prompts produce surreal results, and unclear phrasing can lead to these kinds of misunderstandings.
Frieren is getting downvoted in this same thread and it has "stunning animation" so *some* folks are definitely reading the 3 sentences OP used to ask his question 😄
00s: Kuuchuu Buranko, Zetsubou Sensei, Gankutsuou
10s: Kyousougiga, Midori-ko, Space Patrol Luluco
20s: Sonny Boy, Hands Off Eizouken, The Girl From the Other Side
-Belladona of sadness
-Angel's egg
-sonny boy
-Madoka magica
-Welcome to Irabu's office
-aku no hana
-ping pong the animation
-Gangsta
-Devilman crybaby
-Brand new animal
For something I'd actually recommend: Gankutsuou.
More recently Eizouken tried to do something a bit different, but it was still way tamer visually than stuff like Ping Pong.
Looks like Science Saru might be cooking with A Witch in Mongolia, i'm excited for that one.
Science Saru has a great sense of visual style
Monogatari Off & Monster Season (2024) , especially the Acerola arc
The Girl From the Other Side (2022) (Bocchi the Rock has some interesting scenes as well)
Pui Pui Molcar (2021) (stuffed animals animated)
Houseki no Kuni (2017)
Thunderbolt Fantasy (2016-17) (MAL doesn't count this as anime, but if you gonna include stuff like Pui Pui Molcar...)
Ping Pong (2014)
Kaguya-hime no Monogatari (2013)
Madoka Magica (2011)
Bakemonogatari (2009)
Kaiba (2008)
Mononoke and Chainsaw Maid (2007) (you counting claymation as anime?)
Cossette no Shouzou (2004)
Nekojiru-sou (2001)
Kanashimi no Belladonna (1973)
Funnily enough, Madoka the character is directly inspired by Yuno (confirmed by Urobuchi himself).
Devilman crybaby
Kemonozume
Kill la kill
Berserk 96
Kill la Kill has a tremendous style. It is accused of fan service, but personally (speaking as a middle-aged sixth wave feminist) I feel like the nudity and violence isn't gratuitous; it's mostly just human bodies (except Mikisugi and the occasional cameltoe). The story should have won a Hugo. It's also extremely funny.
Space Dandy mostly has a great atomic 50s type style (it is from 2014-5 and in the same universe as Cowboy Bebop) but also a large number of episodes done in different art styles. It definitely has some fan service but even boobs have to be somewhere.
Mushishi has a beautiful watercolor style that is much replicated but rarely beaten.
nth Gankutsuou.
- Odd Taxi - The general character designs stick out, but the visuals overall, to me at least, rather resemble western cartoons.
- To be Hero X - A mix of various different styles and animation techniques.
- Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt - An hommage to western cartoons a la Powerpuff Girls
- JoJo's Bizarre Adventure - Has a distinct art style for every part, to the point where characters that appear in multiple parts get a new design in each part they appear in. Also affects color schemes and visual effects.
- Mob Psycho 100 - In comparison to the rather streamlined character designs and art styles of today, the very simplistic characters and over the top visual elements, paired with the incredible animation, really stick out.
- Maybe more of an honorable mention, but Grimgar of Fantasy and Ash - Looks like a stereotypical anime on the surface, but what sets it apart are the backgrounds, often featured in somewhat lengthy stills. They have the aesthetic of watercolor paintings and really stick out compared to other contemporary shows. I also have, on multiple occasions, heard people talk about how that's basically impossible to recreate, because the one guy who did it for Grimgar died and nobody else knew how to do it (I'd take this with a grain of salt though, I didn't verify it and there could be other possible reasons for it).
I'll go by decade.
