[Look at how excited Meryl looks after hearing that Vash might be alive.](https://i.imgur.com/aNEMXz4.jpeg) And poor Wolfwood! [Watching him get yeeted after getting run over](https://i.imgur.com/2eoJkW1.jpeg) was pretty hilarious. Not the lighthearted scene I expected after we just watched [Hoppered force Vash to kill him](https://i.imgur.com/5Q2sIag.jpeg) as revenge.
IIUC, it's now much closer to the source, both in design and backstory (although still different).
While it's quite minor, it does make me wonder about the production timing and planning
Since Eriks still have not gotten his haircut. I think Lina will return. I do think they will not retcon her scene from stampede episode 12, since they basically made the entire 3d model for Lina's character so I doubt that they will just scrap her.
Since even Stargaze still use 2d animation for background characters that will not be so important in the story.
Man, what a sad explanation for the Eriks name. Hoppered is really quite a tragic figure.
Poor Wolfwood.
Eriks' hair at the end of the stampede was still way shorter than in Stargaze. So it could still be possible that Lina was taking care of Eriks with Hoppered at some point until Lina needed to move to another location.
I think Studio Orange would not want another drama about as they already are having a harsh OG comparison with their own adaptation. A good obvious retcon from their side is not a good look.
Like why not just put Hoppered at the last season of Stampede instead of Lina and show Eriks missing the metal arm.
Then Comes stargazer where his metal arm is a key to finding Eriks and Hoppered replaced Lina.
So if the anime won't clarify or address this. The. It will become an inconsistency that the anime created on its own. And we can't blame fans or nostalgia if people point it out because it would be an objective narrative inconsistency.
Maybe you didn't watch the '23 show it follows up from?

Should be the local motto.
Nice to see Wolfwood already making an appearance! Quite the comedic one lol.
I like how Jessica didn't want head pats from Brad because it'd mess with her hair lol.

Hoppered seems to have had quite a few conflicting motivations. A sad story any way you look at it.
If Vash had not done what he did, I assume the scale of the disaster would have been far greater than it was. Does no one else seem to recognize this?
Nah. It might've been true any other year (other than maybe 20/21), but the current season is absolutely stacked.
Isn't that the story of Vash's life, though?

Why would Hoppered care? His girl's dead.
I for one am loving this reinterpretation.
It’s like, there’s 4 versions of Tenchi Muyo, there’s at least 2 versions of El Hazard, 2 versions of Utena, 2 versions of Escaflowne, 2 versions of X, etc etc so on and so forth. They all have their charms and merit. The existence of the others doesn’t destroy the fun of the originals.
At what point did people start tossing remakes to the curb instead of embracing and enjoying the new retelling?
I think it's more because so many people have a hate boner for anything CG, even though Orange Studio is hands down the best in the industry at it. There's some legit very cool scenes even in this episode that would either not possible or a royal pain to animate by hand.
BUT IN MOTION IT IS SO GOOD. SO GOOD!
On the other point: I think many seem to recognise this, or at least Hoppered did, to an extent. Vash did say that Hoppered could have finished him off anytime, but he didn't. Why? Was it just his obsession with Eriks and having someone to care for, despite being a crippled "monster"? Or was it that Hoppered never truly blamed Vash, or, at least, came to understand that his actions were as justified as morally possible? The depiction is extremely rapid on all of this, but both Vash and Hoppered snap out of their little houseplay almost immediately. It's not that they were not aware, it's that they, maybe, had no reason to truly "act". With Vash needed by someone again, Hoppered decided it was time.
You can argue the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few but those were still innocents that perished in Julai, you can't fault the ones affected if they have beef with Vash.
Wolfwood with the top tier groan though lol
Poor Hoppered... what happened to the woman he took care of? Probably dead...
And oh boy what an end to the episode lol. Good episode!
Wonder if Vash will get to meet up with Meryl and crew before he goes to rescue the ship. Should be interesting seeing Vash goes up against things that aren't alive and which he can freely shoot.
Stampede knows what they want to be from the get go. You can tell what you can expect from episode 1. Stargaze feels like they are picking up scraps and go with whatever they have.
I wish they didn't have directorial changes.
Also, can I just say, the camera work is sloppy. So many useless camera movement. It's not on the level of shaky cam or Kara no Kyoukai crazy camera work. But for Orange Studio, this is below their standard imo.
If you have knowledge on Maximum. Then you can easily tell what they are going for storywise isn't it?
They also immediately pick up production when the lasts Eason was aired since a full cgi production goes more different than a usual anime production especially with studio orange. That is also why they were able to get voicelines from Zazie's VA in the first episode before her passing.
And I don't get camera work issues. Since unlike stampede the first 2 episodes scenario's were pretty tame and id not go full bombastic like with Stampede's episode 1 and 2 where you have Vash running around town.
Meanwhile Stargazer's action scenes this far mostly just showcase their body distortion forced perspective tech.
Now i get who the girl is, after hearing Brad
Hey Vash heres some more trauma
Rem sighting! Cant wait to see that back story, the OG one was batshit with the crew.
My man Wolfwood needs to be reintroduced, might as well hit him with a car
Couldnt have hoped for a better start really. Stargaze already established all consequences of the previous season and opened up more than one conflict for this one on top of introducing new characters.
Wolf had me dying in the end. Hoppered and Eriks deserved better.

I am still not happy how they handled the detective guy from the 1st season, whose name itself I cannot remember anymore. They just finished him off, seemingly like Hoppered here, without giving him a truly big moment to shine. So, I thought, maybe THIS time they will go far beyond the expectations and in this re-imagination give Hoppered, this tragic guy I saw for the first time in the previous episode, a bigger role. But not. I get it, but I believe there is a lost, wasted potential there, still...
Who knows, maybe through a miracle they will unearth him and put him into a big exosuit. And that's when he shines. I wouldn't bet on it, of course. Otherwise, it's very much to the point and a great continuation in terms of themes and execution, the first ever full-CGI series I am proud to like. Can't wait to know more about what will the problem be with the colonisation fleet...
He's literally a magnet for bad news.
Rolo/Monev the Gale in S1, and now Hoppered the Gauntlet.
Loving it so far.
and im not really sold on this new little girl, felt kinda weird when she was crying for vash and we saw her for like 30 seconds, i didnt feel anything
