Personally, the most unbelievable thing about that anime is that the original illustrator is the same person who did ‘The Eminence in Shadow.’
I never imagined that just changing the animation studio could result in such drastically different character designs.

I have not personally seen its ending but Soul Eater. The reason I sat this is because when it was getting its adaptation the manga was finished and the studio just went “fuck it we will make our own ending”

I don’t know, I’d still say it was being carried by the adaptation because the manga isn’t great. It’s an earlier work by the Fire Force guy so it has all the worst qualities that has including its chronic inability to actually commit to a plot.

So on the day of posting that I did get information that I had been missinformed for years by a trusted friend. It turns out the ending being different was for the same reason as Full Metal Alchemist in which they caught up to the author, and the network did not want to let them do filler till he could get more written,

I think fifth season was announced, lol.
And I said something good about it - it has really nice art. And the story is interesting enough you want to see how it ends. But because of the MC it NEVER actually does. I got tired of the series around third season, watched half of the fourth as a background noise but even that was too much. Like... MC wants to say he loves the girl, is alone with her in almost every episode, thinks how he needs to say that to her, and just when he is about to do it - gets interrupted every time... it is a nice trope when done once or twice, but not 15 times in fourth season, my god. 😭

Fractale - Super interesting setting and the animation style was pretty great. There was some drama with the creative team, but it ends up being bad.
Xamd- almost a little more disappointing as the animation, soundtrack, and setting are all rock solid, but the story loses focus in the second half and rushed the ending hard. It has similar staff as Eureka Seven with similar storytelling faults, but with only half the episodes to turn it around.

The "knock-off" perspective on AoT comparison always annoyed me because it's so surface level. It describes the genre of the show, but the details are extremely different in practice.
AoT has the better story by an absolute landslide. It's not even close, like, they can't even attend the same competitions, that's how big the difference is.
But when it comes to the art, the visuals of the show, I absolutely think KnK is the grander one. It has so many shots that are absolute wallpaper material and with incredible concepts within, like the steam rifles, the Iron Fortress itself, and the Piercing Gun that Ikoma uses.
In terms of Music, I honestly think they are complete equals. Both have incredible bangers and immaculate composition for most of their tracks, and reinforce their respective atmospheres so well.

Yeah, the characters (especially Mumei, god I fucking hate her) are trash, but the visuals are absolutely top of the line. The concept art for Kabaneri really shows how much creative work went into it, and how many ideas the creators had for it. If I could ever have a full show rewritten properly, (i.e. have a show be remastered like FMA: Brotherhood), it'd be Kabaneri. With a good story and characters it could actually be an amazing story with all the work taht was put into it with music, sound, visuals and set-pieces, as well as the entire world building before the clusterfuck of the second half.

It may look healthy because of their marketing, but then you think about it a bit and realize that they've never actually claimed it was "healthy" and have just been using marketing tricks to get you to make the association yourself. Turns out it was fast-food all along!
