Anime/manga like slam dunk and haikyuu?

I really loved the Slam Dunk manga and I was searching an anime/manga that has the same vibes like slam dunk, and haikyuu was closest one, but I just finished all of season of haikyuu including the movie, and I was craving for more. (ignore my english 😅)

Try burning kabbadi, i also went after it looking for some haikyuu action. Not as good but it is pretty nice

Aeriri12342026-01-17 18:21

What is it about?

frey-wick042026-01-17 18:22

kabbadi

ComprehensiveWeb54742026-01-17 18:24

A team sport called kabbadi. Our MC is just as clueless in the start as you haha

Aeriri12342026-01-17 18:26

I definitely will check it out

ComprehensiveWeb54742026-01-17 18:41

Do tell if you like it

Kabbadi \~ Kabbadi \~ Kabbadi \~ Kabbadi \~Kabbadi \~

The animation is really jarring. I personally enjoyed it, but it's not amazing.

I think those two are perhaps the best team sports that actually nail the team.

Major is a worthy baseball contender

Buzzer Beater isn't nearly as good as Slam Dunk, but it's another Inoue Basketball series.

Hoshiai no Sora is an incomplete original series but has some similar vibes minus an aspect or two I'm not fond of.

Hajime no Ippo isn't quite the same, but it's an old school classic and my favorite anime/manga.

Aeriri12342026-01-17 18:26

Is major more of a team anime? Sorry I kinda can't explain

MusubiKazesaru2026-01-17 18:32

Yeah, but the main character is the main focus along with his rival. There's kind of major shift in what he's up to in each season so the team isn't always consistent.

frey-wick042026-01-17 18:24

yowamushi pedal

kuroko no basket

prince of tennis

welcome to the ballroom

run with the wind

hajime no ippo

abandoned_idol2026-01-17 19:33

Woah, another "Yowamushi Pedal" fan!

I'd recommend the "Dogsred" to people (no anime yet though). It's basically a sports version of "Golden Kamuy" and has great recurring gags.

It's ice hockey.

frey-wick042026-01-17 20:32

thnx. definately will check em out

maullidothethird2026-01-17 18:33

Ao ashi

Ahiru no Sora

Giant killing and captain Tsubasa if you like more slow paced things

ComprehensiveWeb54742026-01-17 18:41

Oh yeah ao ashi is a great one. Got masked by that blue lock shit

maullidothethird2026-01-17 19:09

Yeah, I dropped blue lock after 2 episodes. My favourite soccer anime are captain Tsubasa J (because nostalgia) and giant killing, sadly both were unfinished at moment of aired, same with one outs too

ComprehensiveWeb54742026-01-17 19:19

Ohh I haven’t watched captain tsubasa. Inazuma eleven is the nostalgic one for me

bad3ip4202026-01-17 18:49

Major, an absolute classic that stands the test of time. I rewatched it 4 times already.

Baby Steps, also goes pretty deep into an aspiring tennis pro.

Prince of Tennis, a shonen tennis that goes deep on friendship and camaraderie.

Aeriri12342026-01-17 19:38

Is major really that good? One of my friend recommending it too

bad3ip4202026-01-18 02:18

The animation can be hit and miss but the characters and writing are great.

The series is long and goes through a passage of time so it's cool seeing the child characters grow up, pursue their dreams, have family, and etc.

BalecIThink2026-01-17 18:51

Strangely enough Cinderella Grey. Yes it's a racing anime about horse girls but it is the most intense SPORTS! anime I've seen in years. Gorgeous animation and race sequences overflowing with more energy than a battle anime.

Melodic-Bend65502026-01-17 19:22

Kuroko no basket (kuroko's basketball)
Blue lock

GIVE em a try you'll luv it

Stars align if ye wnt an angsty soft tennis slice of life masterpiece

Aeriri12342026-01-17 19:37

Definitely
