Claymore

Reincarnated as a sword if you want something a little more light hearted but still brutal

MaximumSalt76022026-01-18 19:51

Just went through the manga and I’ll def check out the anime!

Chadzuma2026-01-18 03:51

Danmachi got some cool sword girls, watch Sword Oratoria after S1 for even more sword girl

Kind of a similar vibe to AgK in many regards with the mixed slice of life comedy/hardcore action although it never gets quite as dark

Nangaz2026-01-18 03:52

Clevatess is highly recommended

SpiritHistorical71692026-01-18 03:52

Claymore

Freezing

Blood+

The original season of Fate/Stay Night

Two anime kind of stretching it on what you’re looking for but you might like;

Seirei No Moribito

Samurai Girls

>Seirei No Moribito

Spear girl.

Serpent-62026-01-18 03:52

Clevatess

Yasashii_Akuma1562026-01-20 16:11

Seconded. Clevatess was awesome in a throwback fashion.

dejah422026-01-18 03:54

Clevatess

Flytanx2026-01-18 03:54

Fate series, eminence in shadow has some, and reborn to master the blade.

Nomar_952026-01-18 03:56

Revolutionary Girl Utena

TimothyMimeslayer2026-01-18 05:49

The sword fights are ancillary to the plot of that show.

osumatthew2026-01-18 04:06

I’ll throw out Shakugan no Shana, since no one’s mentioned it yet. I’m not surprised, since it’s really underrated. Sword Art Online also has a ton of female main characters, though they’re more dueteragonists than primary main characters.

ScooterD842026-01-18 04:09

I feel like Shakugan no Shana is too outdated for most people. It starts off good but then gets too 2000s cliche.

osumatthew2026-01-18 04:11

I can understand that. I just love the characters and the storyline, and Shana definitely meets OP’s criteria.

ScooterD842026-01-18 04:12

Is it just me or does Shana have an oversized head?

the_card_guy2026-01-18 14:58

That would be part of the early 2000's aesthetic, unfortunately.

That, or you may be thinking of Shana-tan, which was the omake that came with the actual releases

w0lf_man2026-01-18 04:09

reincarnated as a sword

AppropriatFly5170new2026-01-18 04:16

Seirei no Moribito and the 12 Kingdoms are where it’s at!!!!

UnderstandingFun42992026-01-18 04:16

Idk if this counts, but high-school dxd with xenovia quarta

HannibalCake2026-01-18 04:20

Hells paradise has a swordswoman from an ancient clan of executioners it’s a solid watch

Sharp-Role39922026-01-18 04:49

I can't remember the name, but from a reel that popped up I saw one in an anime apparently one which involved a Goblin slaying warrior. I might be wrong though.

Adventurous-Half-6852026-01-18 05:10

If you liked Akame ga Kill, you might enjoy Kill la Kill, Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit, or Claymore. All have strong female leads who actually get to shine in combat and aren’t just sidelined.

Beneficial_Law_2862026-01-18 05:33

"Nier: Automata" the character 2b from it. "Bleach" has a ton of sword fighting women it it, Rukia has some awesome fights she is a main character just not the main character she is fairly common in the series though. "Princess Mononoke" has some she more has a dagger though and is a co-lead.

daddyjohns2026-01-18 05:43

Handyman in Another World, the main party leader is a big badass knight chica

AngelicaSpain2026-01-18 06:02

"Claymore."

ghostpickleonastick2026-01-18 07:22

Roll Over And Die is new this season, but you can binge it if you wait a few months before you read this comment.

Danul2026-01-18 07:52

Claymore

the_card_guy2026-01-18 15:00

A lot of users are saying Clevatess. I'm also going to say Clevatess.

Hell's Paradise also has a strong female "samurai"

gnerfed2026-01-18 17:32

Blue eye samurai is pretty great.

MaximumSalt76022026-01-18 19:51

I LOVED this one.
