Do you forget what has happened by the time the next season airs?

I forget some stuff but watch without a recap anyway. In the vast majority of shows you will either remember them as you go along or figure them out.

Anime more often than not are a pretty focused medium with little complexity in terms of storytelling breath.

There are of course exceptions to this. AoT was pretty hard to follow between seasons without recaps.

I watched a recap of jjk and hells paradise before started watching this season. For golden kamuy and frieren, i think im jusr gonna wait until its season is finished, then binge the whole series later. 


For yona of the dawn, idk. I will probably watch a recap of that too

My memory is still pretty good at least with the rough details, it takes me like 5 years to completely forget shit.

Usually, no. If I enjoy a show enough I tend to watch it multiple times, then most of the knowledge is seared into my mind. So I end up not needing a recap.

Yeah it happens sometimes but once you start watching the new season, older ones start getting recalled automatically.

I watch eps as they come out alongside my husband and pretty much every time we put on an episode one of us goes "Oh yeah! X was happening wasn't it?" within 2 minutes of it starting ahah

I have awful memory but find I don't have issues watching week to week BUT I will say that when I really like something I give it a bingewatch within a year or so

Depends how long between seasons, if it’s just the next year usually I remember but if it’s 2+ yeah gonna need a recap or just struggle through, or on rare occasion a rewatch (usually only if it’s really good).

My memory is very good. I can remember everything I've watched. If I rewatch something before a new season airs it's because I want to.

Y sobre la pregunta, la respuesta es si para saber el contexto de algunas situaciones que fueron explicadas o sucedidas en la temporada anterior.


Y no ya que por lo general, algunos animes toman riesgos y deciden hacer una serie que si los ves y recuerdas lo que viste en temporadas pasadas, sentirás que ya lo sientes algo familiar.

But if I did forget, I think blasting through episodes by like clicking every couple of minutes, is enough to jog my memory.

Yes. And it irks me when I remember during my rewatch because I wanna watch it through not stop halfway with my half-baked memory.

I started to watch anime reactions of S1 before watching S2 lately. That helps a lot.

I tend to watch completed animes too, but when I do watch a show that's getting new seasons, I find it dont mind rewatching previous series.

The new season of jjk started under the assumption that you know what a culling game is. I do not. Wikipedia has a page for every show that gives episode by episode summaries, that's usually where I check if I have no clue what's going on

Never, I somehow remember most details from previous seasons.


Though I usually watch slice of life, which isn't nearly as complex to remember stuff from.

I mean, the important details will come back as you watch and get referenced. You don't need to remember every single detail for the new season

Typically, I'll remember things as they progress unless it was smaller things like very brief character appearances.

I can recall some lines from movies I haven't watched in years.

Depends on my level of interest.

If it's a show I occasionally think about even when it's not airing, I don't need a refresher.

If it's something I just watched because I was bored and it was alright but haven't crossed my mind in 2 years, yeah I need to read up on stuff.

This actually can be expanded to not only anime, but all shows. But yeah, depends on show, but i might forget quite few things if there is enough gap between seasons. Example - stranger things. I forgot most things before i started season 5 and it felt so foreign to me that i actually stopped watching.

Frieren s2 is good example. I didnt check any recaps but i instantly remembered all events and characters from s1. Same with aot. I started watching it when season 3 was in middle, so between s3 and s4 i didnt forget most things.

Sometimes yeah. I'm gonna have to rewatch JJK before starting the new season as I genuinely don't remember what all happened

I forget the start of an EPISODE before the end credits roll of the same episode.

I'll often watch a "Season 1 recap" on Youtube before starting a new season.

I actually find that I tend to remember all of the broad strokes, of basically every anime I watch.

If I have somehow forgotten it, it makes me question if I really enjoyed it to begin with.

However, if I did enjoy it, and can’t remember anything, I tend to find skimming the last episode brings the memories back to the surface and I can just continue where it left off, without needing a recap of the entire previous season.

I do forget a lot, but after the first episode it all comes back to mind. I feel like first episodes are all about that, showing you who is alive, how the other season ended and etc…
