Useful_Project48982026-01-18 11:28
I mean, Crunchyroll has the most content and simulcasts in the US anyway.
Bananaman90202026-01-18 11:30
In Australia we (had) AnimeLab. But then Funimation brought them. And the rest is history.
faithfulheresy2026-01-18 11:53
AnimeLab no longer exists.
RoastedPotato-1kg2026-01-18 11:30
pirate sites literally have every anime and better subs most of the time lol, if you want paid yes its probably the best because they have a monopoly and bought everyone else
Muffin-zetta2026-01-18 11:32
Extremely doubtful they have better subs because 99% of pirate sites are just stolen crunchyroll videos
muzlee012026-01-18 11:43
Maybe for older stuff. New ones are literally just crunchyroll and netflix rips.
DanielDKXD2026-01-18 11:54
1. Pick a show i want to see
2. Check the 1 or 2 subscriptions i have to see if they have it
3. They don't? okay time for the Seas im not paying for a 3rd one for one show.
Mysterious-Rate-32532026-01-18 12:01
Exactly. I pay only for Crunchyroll usually. If I have Netflix on at the time, may be that counts. If not just sailing the seas. It’s hard to manage so many subscriptions like I need to have one for gaming, anime, tv series and gym which I don’t even go often lol. How many can a man pay with one job?!😞
Nettysocks2026-01-18 12:20
It’s u unfortunate but only older shows have the good fan subs, many of the people who did fan subbing back in the day were people who got hired up by CR, who are now being made to use the new terrible subbing application and in some years to come will likely be laid off due to machine translations.
Most of the non big shows tend to get the latter treatment since they will generally go under the radar, big shows like JJK are pretty safe, but the rest suffers, and there is not enough of a scene in fan subbing so yes its jus the CR/Netflix subs that are ripped and out right into torrent sites.
So yeah its bad whatever route you take.
CankleDankl2026-01-18 11:30
Crunchyroll is the best. Hidive has some notable exclusives but its interface is butt ass and it isn't available everywhere.
Mysterious-Roll-33262026-01-18 11:32
been a pirate since 2018 and no ragrets.
juliofromnyc772026-01-18 11:34
They have a monopoly in the US, pretty much. And they have buffering issues. I stopped using them because pirate sites have been more reliable lol

WackyRedWizard2026-01-18 11:36
Counting or not counting pirating?
Reutermo2026-01-18 11:40
This very much depends on your region and what you want to see, impossible to say without that information. Netflix have recently added a ton of Anime as well. And there are still shows you have to pirate if you want to see with no other alternative.

Crunchy and netflix covers the majority of releases
Mysterious-Rate-32532026-01-18 11:54
It depends on the country or region, but there are some anime exclusive to Netflix that aren't in Cineplex like Sakamoto Days and Orb: on the movements on the earth. Amazon has a small anime collection as well. Otherwise, Crunchyroll has the biggest anime collection.
faithfulheresy2026-01-18 11:55
Free is better. Crunchyroll doesn't deserve your hard-earned.
RampageOfZebras2026-01-18 12:08
And what free service di you use that supprts the industry in any way?
faithfulheresy2026-01-18 17:38
I support by buying blurays (where they exist) and merch.
RampageOfZebras2026-01-18 12:14
Crunchyroll is the go to place for legal anime viewing. Some people are die hard pirates, and will give you all kinds of bs reasons why they think its fine ti do but in reality its just theft and I advise against it.
PostGhidra2026-01-18 12:16
Piracy is the way to go, and pretty much the only reliable source/method outside the US, Canada, AU and western Europe. Especially for older shows with fansubs, the experience is going to be many times better compared to what is being offered officially
mikebanetbc2026-01-18 15:06
Anyone here have HiDive?
ActualRound76992026-01-18 15:32
I do, but it kind of lacks and the UI is kind of ass. some good stuff on there though
abandoned_idol2026-01-18 16:20
Hah! That's a good one.
Legal streaming anime services do a terrible job.
If you want an uninterrupted service, good user experience, and access to the anime everyone talks about, you won't find that from legal streaming services.
We always get people coming here complaining about how Crunchyroll yet again stole their sweetroll and about how they will definitely change their ways if we just keep funneling money into them.
Fun fact. Did you know that Crunchyroll used to be a free anime ilegall streaming website? Their quality tanked the moment they started legally monetizing.
Moshimoshi-Megumin2026-01-18 16:27
For « legal » options yes. If pirating there’s a bunch of options that have all animes, with torrenting having the best quality and subs, but being a little less accessible than streaming
