r/anime Karma Ranking & Discussion | Week 3 [Winter 2026]

Hot_Researcher_68392026-01-18 15:18
Many popular shows such as JJK and Onk declined in karma, but Frieren bucks the trend and performed better than Season 1's premiere, and that's even without the most hyped arc coming this season.
cppn022026-01-18 15:21
Tbf Frieren's episode 1 karma in the first season was artificially low because it dropped four episodes at once.
danlong872026-01-18 15:27
Hate to bring the bad news, but this season it wont cover that arc, not with only 10 episodes
shad792026-01-18 15:18
That was a damn good week! It's really hard for me to choose the best episode, as both [**Oshi no Ko S3**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qcpjym/comment/nzlaw90/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (2nd place), [**You and I Are Polar Opposites**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1q9uan2/comment/nyy2e9l/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (6th place), and [**'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess S2**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qayw3a/comment/nz6uzob/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (15th place) had fantastic premieres.
[**Jujutsu Kaisen S3**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qdnh24/comment/nzsp07t/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) did quite well considering the entire episode was full of text and exposition, and no action. Although this is the last time it'll take 1st place this season, as [**Frieren the Slayer**](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQkhnichGlw&t=101s) will join the ranking next week.
I have to admit, I'm quite surprised that [**Hell's Paradise S2**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qa21dg/comment/nyzmny6/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) managed to get over 2,3k karma, landing in 3rd place. I don't know why, but I thought it'd end up with around 1,8k karma at most.
I'm a bit sad that [**Shiboyugi**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qcosq2/comment/nzk34gk/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) (7th place) didn't break the 1k karma mark, although it came pretty close. Still, it's nice to see that the second episode was just as good as the first one.
[**Sentenced to Be a Hero**](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qdjmeq/comment/nzrd09p/?context=3&utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) took a significant hit, losing over 900 karma. This isn't surprising, since the second episode was much calmer and had less action, but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how the show will fare once we get more action-oriented episodes.
This-is_CMGRI2026-01-18 15:22
> Jujutsu Kaisen S3 did quite well considering the entire episode was full of text and exposition
Their presentation won me over because it didn't detract from the small character moments and it just looks snazzy. Part of me wishes a scene like that existed for Gundam or a similar military-based show.
cshark22222026-01-18 15:33
Hell’s Paradise has such a weird place in the current anime zeitgeist.
I can’t quite recall what the trio is called, but it was lumped in a new “big 3” of sorts with Chainsaw man and JJK, I think they’re called the dark trio or something?
Anyway, it gets a Shonen boost from that connection, and it has a unique setting with interesting multi-layered religious symbolism.
As I was watching the new episode, I was actually very impressed with the coloring of the pool scene with the Tensen.
And it’s fighting/power system is genuinely unique and interesting how it’s basically saying “you know all those power systems like Nen and chakra, well they’re all based on singular unifying traits of East Asian religions so we just mashed it all together into one.”
It’s cool how the ninjas like Gabimaru have the same power system of Tao but always called chakra because that’s what they called it. It’s the Sapir-Wharf hypothesis in action.
Crafty-Ad30212026-01-18 15:39
Fortunately, Black Clover is returning this year, based on European fairy tales and Judeo-Christian mythology, thus showing its place in the ranks of jjk and csm and how to use religious symbolism and mythology for world-building.
luceafaruI2026-01-18 15:51
> I can’t quite recall what the trio is called, but it was lumped in a new “big 3” of sorts with Chainsaw man and JJK, I think they’re called the dark trio or something?
The dark shonen trio

That picture for Android at #8 (cropped enough to not violate the NSFW rules).
Frieren's episode missed the cutoff, but it's going there next week.
OnK S3 at #2! Shiboyugi dropped 3 spots, but that was still a good episode!

I was going to say that no way that jjk beat frieren this week
cppn022026-01-18 15:19
Week 3 of Winter and a slight increase in total karma even without the real big ~~boy~~ elf of the season still missing from the chart.
**OnK** enters in second and it looks like between that, **Jigokuraku**, **Strange Fake** and **Sentenced to be a Hero** we might be looking at a very interesting battle for 3rd place this the season.
**Polar Opposites** had a fantastic first episode and earned that 6th spot which together with **Ikoku Nikki** in 9th means my two favourites so far are still in the top 10 for now.
Incredibly close race for that final top 10 spot with **MHA: Vigilantes** and **Fire Force** actually getting the same score with **Trigun** also just two points further behind.
Quite unsurprisingly **The Darwin Incident** has a huge drop of 16 spots in the ranking and tbh I can see it not featuring in the top 30 at all from here on out.
Happy to see **In the Clear Moonlit Dusk** sneaking in at 30th.
And shoutout to **Bean Counter** which would absolutely have made the ranking too and probably even the top 15 if not for brigading from homophobe losers.
atropicalpenguin2026-01-18 15:47
Wonder if Strange Fake's awesome animation will be enough to attract new fans.
SChamploo122026-01-18 15:59
Strange Fake feels like the show where you need to have watched a Fate series before to truly get it. At least Fate Zero and Fate Stay Night UBW had episodes to explain what stuff was. Strange/Fake goes in assuming you have a basic idea of it.
VTKajin2026-01-18 16:09
If newcomers enjoy it enough to try out the rest of the franchise, I say good. No need to daunt potential fans by saying they need to do this or that. They can always come back and watch FSF again later, as well.
omarous_III2026-01-18 17:59
I've always knows of it's existence and heard the background noise on it.... but I really have no idea what it is about, why it is good and how to start. I never see it appear in any of the recommendation threads.
zaxls2026-01-18 15:48
Strange Fake should take it tbh, but it wont cause fate is hard to get into. Even if the animation and story is on par with frieren and jjk. tho.
CerberusZX2026-01-18 16:09
Fate has a reputation of being hard to get into, but honestly it's pretty simple. Most Fate properties are about battle tournaments in which mages summon famous figures from history and myth and fight over the Holy Grail said to have the power to grant wishes. Each main entry is its own tournament, so you can use any non-spinoff as an entry point.
Knowledge of the extended Nasu multiverse enhances the experience but is not necessary to enjoy an individual main entry of Fate.
SChamploo122026-01-18 16:15
I get their point though, if they're interested in Fate properties this isn't the first thing I'd show them.
wloff2026-01-18 18:11
It's tough, isn't it!
On one hand, you could absolutely start watching Strange Fake with zero knowledge of Fate and be blown away with how good it is. Nothing wrong with that. (Anyone who feels like checking it out, please do.)
On the other hand, it's still kinda hard to flat out recommend watching Strange Fake as your very first Fate, because if someone wants to get into the Fate universe, there are still better starting points. (Unlimited Blade Works.)
So I'm conflicted.
maxdragonxiii2026-01-19 02:47
The Fate series (at least anime version) always is easy to get into. it only requires you either read the VN of Stay Night (which majority of the series afterwards is based on) or watch UBW/Fate Zero. thats it.
Kill-bray2026-01-18 16:49
>Quite unsurprisingly **The Darwin Incident** has a huge drop of 16 spots in the ranking and tbh I can see it not featuring in the top 30 at all from here on out.
As someone who's completely out of the loop, why is that? What happened?
cppn022026-01-18 17:22
It's just not good.
SSjjlex2026-01-18 18:51
Animation-wise its not amazing, and story-wise it touches some sensitive topics (especially to more western viewers) and handles them in ways that range from just interesting to bad.
Im in the camp that still finds it interesting through sheer novelty but I wouldnt question why people would drop it.
Dialgak772026-01-18 17:08
>without the real big ~~boy~~ elf
Frieren will remember that
Frostbitten_Moose2026-01-18 19:12
Even after so much time has passed that your tombstone has crumbled away, she will remember it.
dododomo2026-01-18 17:48
It's a shame some people have review bombed/are review bombing Bean counter. What happened to the "if you don't like it, then just quietly leave and go watch/read/play something else" rule? lol. Still, it's interesting how this was downvoted while a gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation wasn't affected despite its strong ~~BL~~ Bromance vibes lol
>Happy to see **In the Clear Moonlit Dusk** sneaking in at 30th.
I have a feeling that it won't make it to the top 30 next week. I've seen many complaining about the premise being too boring and the style of anime failing adapt the beautiful artstyle of the manga
_Ridley2026-01-18 18:48
> And shoutout to Bean Counter which would absolutely have made the ranking too and probably even the top 15 if not for brigading from homophobe losers.
That's how good episode two was. It awakened something in them, and that made them uncomfortable. Give it time, though. This is how it starts for young fujin.

**You and I Are Polar Opposites** had a brilliant premiere, where it flipped the script of a typical romcom. Little wonder it had 1.5k karma.
Lapin Track are cooking hard on the production side as always.
tripleaamin2026-01-18 15:40
>Lapin Track are cooking hard on the production side as always.
If you were to create a tier list of studios, they would have to be a top tier.
Jauretche2026-01-18 15:47
Watched it yesterday and had a lot of fun! The cast of characters seems really charming. Let's see how it develops, but I'm a sucker for a funny and sweet romcom.
PetyrDayne2026-01-18 17:18
Can't wait to watch it. What a stacked season.
omarous_III2026-01-18 17:56
Polar Opposites is so good. I went and read the manga and the anime really elevates it. Can't wait for more of the ensemble cast to be introduced.
Xina102026-01-18 18:01
I'm probably the only person in this sub that didn't like the premiere. While the 'twist' is refreshing, the characters seemed so cringe to me... a bit tired of this trope of inner monologues and funny faces... it's just not my type of romcom I guess :)
FetchFrosh2026-01-18 19:26
I'm your opposite. I really liked it, but also I don't really get why we're talking about the script of a typical romcom being flipped. There wasn't anything about it that felt particularly novel, just well executed.
Xina102026-01-18 19:42
Maybe I'll come back to it later, but in this first episode neither the mains nor the friends made an impression. And i've seen (and enjoyed) my fair share of high school romcoms - Bakuyaba, Komi, Alya, Bunny Senpai, Kaguya, Cuckoos, ... and in all of them I was interested enough to watch the second epi.
Yesshua2026-01-18 23:30
I would describe it more as "What if a typical rom com plowed through the bullshit at record speed?"
Nervous about holding hands? Worked through and started holding hands within 15 minutes.
Too scared to admit you like someone so you deny it then find out they heard you? Immediately resolved by telling all your friends "no no actually I super like him I was just scared" then run after him and ask him out. Time from miscommunication to resolution? Maybe 5 minutes.
Quiet guy feels like he should keep their relationship a secret because he doesn't wanna tarnish her reputation? The moment he utters the thought his buddy is like "1. She already told everyone and 2. You think she has a pristine reputation like that? We don't put that gremlin on a pedestal lol".
Girl is worried about looking unfeminine chowing down on a burger? Takes about 3 sentences for the guy to tell her to dig in and the she does with gusto.
So these are all super typical rom com tropes. But this script is burning through them with such... disrespect almost. "Oh did you think this was fertile soil for drama? Not this story, we're blowing it off and moving on".
Automatic_Top_80852026-01-18 20:35
I hope this Rom-Com gets the love it deserves... I've watched lots of romcoms and I must say this is one of my favs... I hope they get to adapt the entire manga ❤️
Rap2rerise2026-01-18 15:22
Ayo, what the hell happened to Chained Soldier?
Karma basically dropped in half with just one episode
Various_Length_49052026-01-18 15:33
Yeah, that's extremely surprising
tripleaamin2026-01-18 15:39
I guess it is more so manga readers seeing the quality of the first episode and then coming back to binge it later, I guess?

qwertyqwerty45672026-01-18 15:48
show is still not ecchi enough
LakersTommyG2026-01-18 15:53
Honestly this show was ruined by airing in the same season as Gushing over Magical Girls. Chained Soldier fans saw what could have been and I don’t blame them

halbeshendel2026-01-18 17:44
It was funny the Magical Girls anime was more ecchi than the manga, but Chained Soldier anime was less ecchi than the manga.
notreal0882026-01-18 16:00
Probably too many heavy hitters this same season
Last week it appears a few days before hells paradise and oshi no ko & frieren came out a week later.
Karma is based off how much people talk about the show so having so many shows with highly anticipated seasons coming was gonna affect the karma.
Plus it will probably bounce back, I we need is one good ecchi or fight scene to get the general audience intrigued
Infodump_Ibis2026-01-18 17:18
Having a look at data I'd conclude the 47% drop of Chained Soldier is sharper but fits the trend for ecchi+ (what causes support to wane, could the novelty wear off). I'm aware Chained Soldier a has reputation for not being hard enough and I'm going to assume **Does It Count If You Lose Your Innocence to an Android?** (tagged Erotica; not ecchi on MAL) is the "look, this seasonal went harder" counterpart this time?
Thinking back to last Spring a ~65% drop (1368 > 473) was observed for **Please Put Them On, Takamine-san** ep 1>2. One might also think wasn't Takamine-san the one where some eps had brief pornographic images that delayed CR release which would disrupt karma? Yes, but ep 2 wasn't one of those.
I then moved to Summer and **Nukitashi the Animation** (again erotica; not ecchi on MAL) which karma went 963 > 571 (~40% drop).
Why bring erotica to an ecchi fight? The boundary can be blurry and I think those are more relevant than what can feel like legacy labelled ecchi shows like Ranma ½.
Since I'm in Autumn 2025 data anyway. **Hands off: Sawaranaide Kotesashi-kun** 259 > 147 (~43% drop), **Ranam ½** 784 > 659 (~16% drop; we have an outlier).
Edit: Preview for new week is Android episode 2 went 805 > 292 karma which is a ~64% drop.
maliwanag07122026-01-18 15:22
Ohhh JJK and OnK have almost the same karma this week, huh? Also, I didn't expect OnK to fare that well, with how it is not discussed that much with regards to karma (of course it's still popular and all, but maybe I underestimated it here at r/anime?)
To be fair, OnK is a premiere while JJK is an Ep 2. With the next week, let's see what happens to these two, like which will get Number 2.
Obviously Frieren will be Number 1 next week.
steven48692026-01-18 15:31
Amidst JJK and OnK won't be surprised if Fate takes up a top-3 spot next week.
Electrical_Chance9912026-01-18 15:43
There's also gonna be a definitive No 1 in the name of Frieren from next week, unless ONK drops below 2k, Fate has no chance of being in top 3
steven48692026-01-18 15:45
Fate got 2K for the latest episode, which could end at 2.1-2.2 by 48 hours. I can see OnK dropping to 2K for the next episode.
luceafaruI2026-01-18 15:48
> There's also gonna be a definitive No 1 in the name of Frieren from next week
About that, i think you have no idea what's coming next week
RemindMe! 1 week
Ebo872026-01-18 15:57
Doubt Oshi no ko gets past 2k next week, same with Hell's Paradise, so Fate/Strange Fake is definitely getting 3rd place. Also the only show this season (so far) to keep improving on its karma each week. Haha, funny how Strange Fake is seemingly turning into the breakout *new* anime of this season. But you have to give credit where credit is due, A-1 are doing a stellar job so far animating Fate/Strange Fake, and the show just keeps going up the rankings everywhere.
Of course the Elfphant in the room has to be recognized, starting next week Frieren S2 is just in its own world, competiting againts itself with an upcoming 7k karma, only the highest discussion karma we've had on r/anime since episode 7 of Dandadan all the way back in November 2024. And I believe 5th highest for Frieren as a series, behind episodes 10, 26, 27 and 28.
While I was hoping it could get closer to 10k again, I don't think that will be on the table at this point, with where r/anime is now, so I expect Frieren will hover between 6k and 8k this season. There are certainly some highlights coming over the next 9 episodes, but I don't think any of those tops 10k. And I doubt the sub will be in much better shape by the time we get season 3, so that 10k season 1 finale might end up being Frieren's highest discussion karma score ever.
Stabaobs2026-01-18 19:54
Maybe by the 5th episode or so, people will realize FSF is actually airing weekly and not yearly.
Various_Length_49052026-01-18 16:05
Yeah, there is a pretty good chance FSF beats ONK this week.
-_Seth_-2026-01-18 16:12
Oshi no Ko S2 is the best show I have seen in many years and S3 had a strong start, so it deserves a lot more upvotes imo.
wloff2026-01-18 18:22
> Also, I didn't expect OnK to fare that well, with how it is not discussed that much with regards to karma
Oshi no Ko has the annoying effect for anime-onlies like myself that every single discussion about it has been quickly overtaken by manga haters who want to either complain or flat out spoil stuff. So I for one have been avoiding everything OnK related like a plague for the last few months, even though I'm a big fan of the show.
The episode discussion was the first OnK related thread I interacted with in ages, because there I at least know that any manga talk should/will be swiftly banned.

Time to shill all the new exciting shows! In descending order of my excitement:
* **Polar opposites** has been all I ever could dream of in an adaption of one of my all time favourite romcoms...and more. Genuinely perfect, I haven't spent so much time hugging a pillow since watching boku yaba. I don't even want to say more, just watch it if you ever had even a single iota of interest in a romcom. And luckily, this is actually a recommendation that is very easy to make, because for once, this isn't a case "believe me, it will get better", as the anime adapts two of the series best, if not the two best, chapters in its first two episodes \~\~who also coincidentally are the wo best first chapters in romcoms in general\~\~ ...so if you aren't vibing with it after two episodes, you can probably gladly drop it. Also I am still stunned by how good [the op]([https://animethemes.moe/anime/seihantai\_na\_kimi\_to\_boku/OP1](https://animethemes.moe/anime/seihantai_na_kimi_to_boku/OP1)) is.
* Though this isn't even the only pink hair romcom with great production values to stand out this season, as there also is **Tamon's B side**. More on the comedy side, it's just so much fun to watch. It's best part is of course that the mc will never beat the crazy fan allegations, and with the dynamic of the mmc being part time pink haired idol, part time pink haired bocchi, it's just a joy to watch.
* Of course, the most unique, most unexpected standout premiere (that actually everybody should give a try, even those who normally wouldn't watch a dath game show) goes to **Shiboyugi**. Direction and atmosphere were just perfect, making for ana bsolutely mesmerizing watch, despite (well, because) it is so different from what you would expect. And the content of the episode itself...will surely make you want to watch more.
* Any episode that almost makes me teary eyed in the first episode probably should be here, so shout-out to **Journal with witch**. Certainly seems like it is going to be a fantastic series about dealing with grief and suddenly having to live together. Also, together with polar opposites, the obvious contenders for op of the season.
* And of course, there is **Sentenced to be a hero**. While certainly a visual spectacle, I am not gonna lie, the fighting in episode 1 felt kinda...one-notey? \[Minor spoilers for episode 1\]>!Exploding daggers a certainly a coold concepts, but them being his only weapon-AND him being the only one to really fight in episode 1 and achieve something- was just not enough to be really interesting!< \[Major episode 1 spoilers\]>!I guess the biggest disappointment was him accepting the goddess power-THE climax of the first episode-... didn't really change his way of fighting at all?!<. So in this regard, while obviousl< a downgrade in production values, episode 2 was a step up simply by... introducing more characters.
* If you do like the twist on the "heroes fighting the demon lords" concept as well as the "cynic old guy vs the bubbly, optimistic young girl" dynamic , make sure to also check out **Scum of the brave**, by the same author as Sentenced, which is also airing this winter! (Because of the somewhat more comedic tone of scum of the brave, that dynamic does also fit more here)
Abysswatcherbel2026-01-18 15:30
>Polar opposites
Too pink for me!
> Tamon's B side
One of the best this season, incredible dynamic carried by the production and Saori Hayami
>Journal with witch
Didn't see any picture with a big hat, is that even a witch show?
>Sentenced to be a hero
Good, but it still needs to show it is more than just a cute goddess and great animation, the latter might even implode later on due to the Zoom100 syndrome here, so it really needs to be more than that
I_am_a_fiction_lover2026-01-18 15:35
"Journal with Witch" is a case of a translation that takes some liberties with the original name, "Ikoku Nikki" (違国日記) which translates to "Journal/Diary in/of a Strange Land". There ain't no witch in the og title. Or the story. If you want big hats, there is Champignon Witch which does actually have a Witch in a hat
Arakawa-Hikaru-Gero2026-01-19 00:40
It's really interesting because Journal With Witch was consistently used in art from the mangaka way before the anime was announced, so I assume it has to be the mangaka's own choice for an English name. It's always been a strange one to me! But who am I to disagree with the actual creator lol
alvenestthol2026-01-18 15:36
>Didn't see any picture with a big hat, is that even a witch show?
No
It's entirely real life, and in fact the Japanese title was more like "Diary of Exotic Lands", which is *yet* another genre that the show isn't about
But it's like that because it's about a child who lost their parents, and now lives with a relative who is a writer - the writer is the metaphorical witch, and the new environment is the metaphorical "exotic country".
dododomo2026-01-18 17:51
>> Tamon's B side
>One of the best this season, incredible dynamic carried by the production and Saori Hayami
The anime is already so successful that they are rapidly reprinting the manga in Japan
ModieOfTheEast2026-01-18 15:35
Episode 1 of Sentenced to be a hero was a way for them to naturally introduce the world, more so than characters. Instead of just giving you a narration, they basically introduced the magic system without having to explain it at all. Xylo's fighting style works, because he has two runes engraved into his body. One one his arms/hands and one on his feet which are then used for his magic attacks. This is why he has to actually hold a weapon for the effect to activate, otherwise, he can't make them explode. It also introduced the fact that his ability, while not dependend on mana, is dependent on the number of weapons he has.
Similarly, the episode introduced other ways of how these runes can be used with the army being shown to fight. And I go out of my way to say that Teoritta's marks are runes as well which is why she can use her magic in the first place.
Sure, the episode could have just told us all of that in a 5 minute narration, but that is why I still think episode 1 is special. Because instead of going this easy way, they thought about ways to tell that organically, which obviously takes a bit more time and therefore longer fights. But it is something that is sadly not being used as much nowadays anymore.

Glad someone else mentioned Scum of the Brave. I don’t think it will be a masterpiece or anything, but I really enjoyed the first episode and I feel like it has the makings of a very fun 7/10 at worst.

Well now I HAVE to check it out.
gvon892026-01-18 16:34
Excuse you, the episode in the rankings was 4.5 minutes long. The 3.5 minute episode just aired friday!
MeatballZeitgeist2026-01-18 16:50
Imagine how well it would be doing if it *wasn't* short enough to be released as a redgifs original series.
battlemaje19962026-01-19 04:46
It's why I don't take these types of posts seriously.
Various_Length_49052026-01-18 15:29
JJK And ONK eps so far show how much the sub's activity has fallen in even the last 2 yrs. Still, at least Frieren premiere got 7K, which is great and will easily dominate this list from next week onwards.
Between, ONK, FSF, Jigo and Sentenced to be a Hero, the battle for #3 throughout the weeks will be quite fascinating.
JJK should be #2 easily with the priority eps doing very good.
Whendfield1232026-01-18 15:57
Lockdowns are over and the economy is on decline
Undisguised_Toast2026-01-18 15:30
Top 8 title ain't helping, it even doubles down 💀
Time_Fracture2026-01-18 15:30
Frieren will be in the next week's chart, and Medalist the week after.
The Darwin Incident sadly dropped hard. 8 anime premiering above it yet still almost thrown off the top 30 chart.
Good to see Mayonaka Heart Tune still on the left chart, although looks like Polar Opposites will took over it as the romcom of the season.
Thanks for putting the OP screenshot as the banner of Torture Princess, truly the sleeper OP of the season (not OP of the season, that still goes to Sentenced).
And finally, good to see both Rocket Shoukai's anime on this week's chart.
danlong872026-01-18 15:30
Ah so Frieren missed the cutoff point by just a few hours, would be interesting to see whether its karma will be tripled (it should already be doubled) the karma of the second place, and Gnosia dropped out of top 15 as expected with all these debut
cppn022026-01-18 15:40
> would be interesting to see whether its karma will be tripled (it should already be doubled) the karma of the second place
We would have to wait and see what JJK gets next Thursday. Frieren will end up at 7k which I don't expect to be enough to triple whatever JJK gets since that just got 2.6k with a pure 20 minute exposition dump.
danlong872026-01-18 15:42
Yeah, regardless, a 7k karma, in this economy? Its already ridiculous enough lol
Various_Length_49052026-01-18 16:06
Next JJK ep is a big priority one. So Frieren will probably double it. Not triple.
danlong872026-01-18 16:09
Right, forgot about the incoming wholesome Zenin family reunion, then maybe doubling it might not even happen lmao
Various_Length_49052026-01-18 16:11
Half of 7K means 3.5k. It'll be interesting and will kinda give a good indicator to how high JJK karma can go this season.
Zetafunction642026-01-18 15:31
The fuck do you mean some random, barely not-hentai anime took the 8th position with 800 votes while Vigilante remains in the 10th position?
Also, exposition episode, so JJK might not reflect true numbers, but damn we have hard competition in the top 3 and the three following. Although Frieren blew through all with a whopping 7k
Korkez112026-01-18 16:06
Random barely-not-hentai anime usually don't have staying power. Chained Soldier can confirm.
Razetony2026-01-18 16:46
Chained Soldier would unironically be much better with the straight up hentai vibes. The art in the manga is wonderful, but man does the reward part just get boring after awhile. At least that's my opinion anyway.
MysteryCredit2026-01-18 17:54
i think it more that you would expect it to go a bit further after so long
Rockstarwithoutplay2026-01-18 16:11
I'm kinda disappointed with Vigilantes. I thought it would be darker and realistic for the kind of premise (street vigilantes similar to Daredevil o Kickass) but it is just boku no hero season 1/2 without the epic battles. The best thing about it is knuckleduster, but the rest of characters are lame
I will continue watching just because it has shown some glimpses of potential.
omarous_III2026-01-18 18:11
I'm hoping it is just ramping up. I really liked the first season. IMHO it is structured so much better than MHA.
mmcjawa_reborn2026-01-18 17:19
That "Show" being so high, despite the fact the eps are basically clip length and can only be legally watched on a obscure streaming service that a lot of folks don't have...broke my brain

Queue_Jumping_Quack2026-01-18 15:32
Fate seems to be picking up karma every new episode, the new one is already above the total of the one listed here. Big drop OTOH for Sentenced to be a Hero. I remain a bit puzzled for the lowish karma for JJK, but I guess the episode being full of exposition and (I think?) no action does that to a battle anime. Oshi no Ko also should have got higher numbers... hopefully it will pick up next week. With these current numbers, we might soon see Fate start to pushing past the other big names to enter the top 3...
As always, kudos to the people selecting the screen shots. I always have a chuckle when I see what was selected this week.
Looks like we are settling for around 450 karma to gain place on the "Top 15" side this season.
AcceptablePay45232026-01-18 19:43
Jjk fans don’t like to really come here they have three sub communities ngl it seem most people here hate shonen battle manga

Ngl i thought the Android thing was just a straight up hentai lmao
StepujacyBrat2026-01-18 15:33
Journal with Witch is so underrated. Do yourself a favor and try it out. It has such well written characters and natural dialogues. And on top of that a wonderful OST by Kensuke Ushio. If it doesn't fumble, it will probably end up as my AOTS
fuzzynavel342026-01-18 15:49
YES it’s sooo good so far
SChamploo122026-01-18 15:57
What is it about? With everything out I might save it for a slower season where I usually catch up on stuff.
CerberusZX2026-01-18 16:05
A girl's parents die. The mother's sister who hated her ends up taking in her daughter. I [posted a clip](https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qa5bu9/the_kanji_for_basin_journal_with_witch/) from episode 1 that I felt reflected the general tone of the show.
omarous_III2026-01-18 18:07
Not a single mother. The FMC loses both of her parents at once in an accident and she goes to live with her reclusive aunt.
The story (so far) is about both of them processing their grief and making a life together. It is really good. It hits me like the ending of Your Lie in April, but stretched out into a series with working through the grief.
totallyverifiedit2026-01-18 16:06
Such a refreshing show. Mcs feel very Relatable. Also, the VISUAL METAPHORS. Sometimes, to describe feelings, a person tends to imagine a scenario to help visualize this feeling and deal with it. This anime does this so well it's so nice. Def tuning in for more
Majesticeuphoria2026-01-18 20:03
All you had to say was Kensuke Ushio and I'm sold.
kekario2026-01-18 22:16
I know this season has a good amount of VERY strong titles. But personally for me, Journal with Witch is a genuine candidate for the best anime of the winter season
CerberusZX2026-01-18 15:34
All those new shows and Journal with Witch managed to maintain its rank in the top 10. That's great!
Taken out of context, the Territory Defense image looks more like rage than \[Territory Defense\]>!disappointment masked by fake happiness!<.
Comprehensive_Dog6512026-01-18 15:35
ONK lost about 1.5k compared to s2 premiere. This sub is less popular than ever it seems
tripleaamin2026-01-18 15:38
I always find it interesting how many big mainstream casual anime are not represented well in terms of popularity on this sub. As JJK and Jigo have near the same karma, but everyone knows that JJK alongside Frieren are by far the most popular shows of the season.
Impressions from new shows starting this week.
* You & I Are Polar Opposites - Actually watching the dub with my mom, which sounds fantastic. But this anime is getting the most ideal adaptation that you can ask for. Which I can't ask for anymore, as a manga reader. Lapin Track is really showing up as a top-notch studio. They have certainly been on point since they put out Undead Girl Murder Farce.
* Kaya-chan isn't Scary - For Dark Gathering fans, should really check this out. The director and a decent amount of the staff that worked on Dark Gathering are working on it. The biggest difference might lie with the animators in East Fish Studio vs OLM for Dark Gathering. But with the director of Dark Gathering working on it, I have a good feeling it will be at worst a solid adaptation.
* 'Tis Time for "Torture," Princess Season 2 - If you need a feel-good gag comedy, this is the one for you. It looks even better than S1, and it's quite funny how Asirpa & Sugimoto's seiyuus are the leads and the broadcast time airs immediately after Golden Kamuy.
* Frieren: Beyond Journey's End Season 2 - After rewatching S1, S2 retains the quality of S1, which I am beyond happy about. Still expanded panels and having anime original moments like with S1. This has a chance to go down as one of the best anime adaptations if they keep this same level of quality. Funny enough, the manga's hiatus problem might actually be working in benefit of keeping the anime quality at the same level as S1. Unlike Apothecary Diaries, the series doesn't have the luxury of having how much content left to cover.
BonerPorn2026-01-18 16:58
I think it's because the anime sub acts as a catch all. One Piece fans aren't discussing the show here, they are talking about it on the dedicated One Piece subreddit. So Anime tends to the smaller, or newer shows.
It would be interesting if we included the karma and comments of those shows discussion threads on their dedicated subreddits. As a side thing. But that sounds like a lot of work.
Komarist2026-01-18 15:39

APRengar2026-01-18 18:18
Daily "Crunchyroll removed comments from their website after a BL series got hate raided" reminded.
Sucks how many people would say "don't censor or change the series I like to appease the majority, don't like? Don't watch it." Will then go hate raid a series they don't like.
_Ridley2026-01-18 18:59
These fuckin weirdos, I swear to god. Downvoting like that is such an "I'm not mad. Please don't put in the newspaper that I got mad" thing to do.
ModieOfTheEast2026-01-18 15:39
Good to see that our torture princess made it into the Top 15. For some reason, the humor in that show works really well for me.
Only disappointment of the chart is the fact that the Champignon Witch is this low. I feel that show has really great potential. The only issue is the narration, but I do hope that it gets reduced now that the narrator has been introduced to the story.
Whendfield1232026-01-18 16:04
Champignon witch is unfortunate to air in a season with lots of good shows. It also might not appeal to a majority of people, kinda like ranking of kings.
melindypants2026-01-18 15:39
Anyone interested in an adult cast romance should check out the Invisible Man and His Soon-to-be Wife - it's so sweet and the characters are great!
dododomo2026-01-18 17:53
I didn't know the manga, but it's already one of my favorite shows of the season (with Tamon's B side, Isekai Office Worker the other world's books depend on the bean counter, Trigun stargaze, JJK, a gentle Noble's Vacation Recommendation, etc)
PianoCube932026-01-19 00:50
I don't have any particular interest the genre and probably won't watch, but I have to admit that a romance between an invisible man and a blind woman sounds like a unique and neat premise.
Also the furry lynx(?) lady is cool. Anime needs more cat girls and similar like her or Izutsimi (Dungeon Meshi), rather than those who just look like regular humans with cat ears glued on.
melindypants2026-01-19 00:57
It is! They actually go into the disability part in detail and daily nuances which I find impressive. It feels pretty realistic despite being an urban fantasy - very refreshing!
I do like the cat girl and her full body design too. I hope there will be more non-human characters introduced.
It's worth checking out if you ever need something to watch!
Any-Computer-40532026-01-18 15:40
'Tis time for Torture Princess being so low should be illegal, it was easily top 3 episodes this week
AriaBellaPancake2026-01-18 17:14
Really? I mean it's a cute gag show but there's like 6 shows ranked lower than it that I think deserve a higher spot than it
Remarkable-Funny15702026-01-18 15:42
It's not Shiboyuki but *Shibô Yûgi*. Shibô means "death" and yûgi means "games".
CerberusZX2026-01-18 15:52
OP likes to use informal, often comedic alternate titles after the first week. The protagonist is Yuki and OP is quite fond of her, and so this week's title is a sort of pun related to that.
Remarkable-Funny15702026-01-18 16:10
All right then, thx for the info!
Nachtwandler_FS2026-01-18 16:04
I am sure it is deliberate from the chart makers as MCs name is Yuki.
cppn022026-01-18 16:11
It is indeed.
SouekiSennoSTM2026-01-18 15:43
I feel as if even moreso than is the case with other seasons, this is a season whose chart and the top rankings is really going to be dominated by the new seasons of returning series I'm not personally watching, so hopefully not too much good new stuff will be crowded out.
The Darwin Incident already plummeting, sadly. By next week it will probably be bumped off the chart or barely at the margins. Regrettable for a series with one of the more interesting premises in years.
I hope that Ikoku Nikki and Shiboyugi can maintain somewhere close to their positions or anywhere in the Top 15 though. Not too often do two of my top three of a given season end up on the left-hand side of the chart.
Gnosia still floundering in the borderlands even though it should've gotten and retained a Top 15 position since last October. Now with more new heavy hitter titles being introduced, prospects seem low.
And I don't watch most comedy series, but occasionally one will have a setup/premise which appeal to me. It didn't even make the chart here, but for anyone who has watched, how is that torture comedic workplace Slice of Life one?
Load_star_2026-01-18 16:47
I gotta agree with you on Gnosia; the show is a fantastic mystery that I suspect would appeal to a lot of people. Getting called "knock off Among Us" by various people is really holding it back. I didn't even know the original Gnosia game until just before the series began airing, and I could have made the same mistake otherwise.
atropicalpenguin2026-01-18 15:45
The battle for first place will be interesting, though I assume Frieren will just take it by storm.
EDIT: Sucks Maou Musume dropped form the chart.
fuzzynavel342026-01-18 15:48
Journal with Witch is such a great show. Especially as someone in my mid 30’s with nieces and nephews that doesn’t have kids.
Really hits a particular mood for me and it has been super great so far. My dark horse of the season so far
Queue_Jumping_Quack2026-01-18 15:53
Oh and wow Golden Kamuy stuck in 20th place... Is this sub not a fan of the series? In my opinion it deserves to be somewhere among the top 15. Hopefully better numbers next week...
Whendfield1232026-01-18 15:54
Champignon witch is really underrated. Ep2 made me like it even more.
Teoritta was so cute this episode (she always are). Im almost getting annoyed at how Xylo is so cold towards her. She deserves all the hugs and praise in the world.
hovsep562026-01-18 15:56
fire force being based
zool7142026-01-18 15:57
Well, Frieren’s definitely running away with it when it makes its entrance.
I so want Polar Opposites to stay high in the rankings. Definitely one of the better romcoms.
Ebo872026-01-18 16:03
Prediction for next week, numbers 2+3+4 put together will still be less karma than number 1 (looking like 7010 right now).
JJK probably doing another 2.5k, Fate/Strange Fake looks to be headed for 2.1k, so that's 4.6k, leaving under 2.4k for the other show that will complete the top 4. Yeah, even if JJK plays better and gets close to 3k, I think number 1 beating 2+3+4 combined is a fairly safe bet still.
But hey, it will be the first karma week that's over 20k in I don't even remember how long. Maybe winter 2025? Or maybe Fall 2024?
cppn022026-01-18 16:15
Last Summer actually.

I’m pretty sure Fate has been more or less mainstream ever since Fate/Zero came out
CRIMS0N-ED2026-01-19 02:09
people will still tell you it’s a niche franchise which is wild but whatever
mastesargent2026-01-19 02:52
I’d say at best there are individual entries that are pretty niche, especially the video games like the Extra series, but yeah overall Fate’s practically a household name in anime.

Chiming in once again with my weekly reminder to watch **Tamon's B-Side**. The manga is currently outselling Kingdom in the US right now, and the anime adaptation is doing a fantastic job of bringing the story to life. Saori Hayami is playing Utage like she was born for the role, switching seamlessly between sweet, calming housekeeper and unhinged, zealous stan. If you like romcoms, you really need to give it a try.
And a shout out to **The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter** for a second episode so powerful, and so transformative, that a group of self-appointed censors tried to bury it in downvotes. It was so good, they worried about how popular it would be. What an honor.
dagreenman182026-01-18 19:47
You And I Are Polar Opposites gaining traction out of the gate does my heart good. I thought I would need to scream its praises to get people to watch it, but it looks like it hit its audience hard going by BS and TikTok. And the fun is only beginning. It has something for every romcom lover.
cjrunswithcrows2026-01-18 20:47
I’m really excited to get into the new season of JJK - I’m trying to work through other anime until the season is done though since I prefer to watch it all at once, I might do the same for Vigilantes as well. I’m currently working on Black Clover.
IceAnt5732026-01-18 21:45
Was pretty busy this weekend (on top of snow falling in my area again on Saturday...) so couldn't do my recap until a bit later than the thread gets posted.
___
Week 3 of Winter 2026 has almost all of the remaining premieres for the season (except for the biggest show of the season. That's next week.) which includes highly anticipated sequels like *【Oshi no Ko】S3* and *Hell’s Paradise S2* driving karma up to 18,546 karma which is +1699 karma from last week. This helps to alleviate the Ep. 2 karma drops for the earlier premieres of the season too.
___
**JUJUTSU KAISEN: The Culling Game P1** stays at 1st with 2649 karma which is +80 karma compared to Ep. 1 and -247 karma compared to Ep. 2 last week. 773 comments is +391 comments compared to Ep. 1 and +187 comments compared to Ep. 2, 2nd in most comments for an episode thread this week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.29. MAL score is 8.61 which is -0.06 from last week. Big comment boost compared to the episodes from last week for an episode all about explaining how this whole culling game even works complete with a PowerPoint presentation too.
**【Oshi no Ko】S3** debuts at 2nd with 2571 karma and getting within 80 karma of winning this week. 446 comments is 5th most for the week and has a comment to karma ratio of 0.17. MAL score starts off at 8.40. We're back and all of Ruby, Kana, and Aqua are either sad or suffering. At least MEM-cho and Akane are doing fine and/or great.
**Hell’s Paradise S2** debuts at 3rd with 2354 karma. 260 comments is 8th most for the week and has a comment to karma ratio of 0.11. MAL score starts off at 8.12. Starting the season off already with a cool fight between Gabimaru and Chobei + I like that new outfit for Yuzuriha.
**Fate/strange Fake** moves up +2 spots to 4th with 1730 karma which is +707 karma from last week. 834 comments is +589 comments from last week, 1st in comments for the week, and a very strong comment to karma ratio of 0.48. MAL score is 8.44 which is +0.14 from last week. Big engagement boost for this sakuga feast of an episode (people are even taking note of how good the sound design is), but I most like how cute Ayaka and Saber are together.
**Sentenced to Be a Hero** moves down -3 spots to 5th with 1652 karma which is -921 karma from last week. 317 comments is -432 comments from last week, 7th most for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.19. MAL score is 8.44 which is -0.07 from last week. Ep. 2 is a cooldown from the premiere so that is amplifying the Ep. 2 karma drop even more, but Xylo and Teoritta remain as a great highlight for this series.
**You and I Are Polar Opposites** debuts at 6th with 1579 karma and the last 1k+ karma show for the week. 381 comments is 6th most for the week and has a comment to karma ratio of 0.24. MAL score starts off at 8.06. Suzuki is a reaction face goldmine - just look at the banner for this show. That and I like a confession already in Ep. 1.
**SHIBOYUGI: Playing Death Games to Put Food on the Table** moves down -3 spots to 7th with 969 karma which is -175 karma from last week. 522 comments is -110 comments from last week, 3rd most for the week, and an incredibly strong comment to karma ratio of 0.54. MAL score is 7.88 which is -0.03 from last week. We're going back to Yuki's 10th game which means a less experienced Yuki compared to Ep. 1 paired with some veterans including a drill hair Ojou-sama who people may or may not want to see killed off.
**Does It Count If You Lose Your Innocence to an Android?** debuts at 8th with 805 karma. 163 comments is 19th most for the week and has a comment to karma ratio of 0.20. MAL score starts off at 6.71. Only in 4 minute shorts, but the premise speaks for itself and it's delivering it fast. Too bad the Ep. 2 dropoff is going to be steep.
**Journal with Witch** stays at 9th with 685 karma which is -48 karma from last week. 175 comments is -40 comments from last week, tied for 13th most for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.26. MAL score is 8.00 which is +0.18 from last week. Makio is not as much of a friendless shut-in as maybe assumed since we get introduced to her friend Daigo and her ex Kasamachi. Really fascinated by Asa's perception of how her mother acts compared to Makio.
**My Hero Academia: Vigilantes S2** moves down -2 spots to 10th with 667 karma which is -141 karma from last week. 171 comments is +3 comments from last week, part of a 4-way tie for 15th most for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.26. MAL score is 7.43 which is -0.03 from last week.
**Fire Force S3 P2** debuts at 11th also with 667 karma. 133 comments means it loses out on the comment tiebreaker to be ranked 10th, 26th most comments for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.20. MAL score starts off at 7.70.
**TRIGUN STARGAZE** debuts at 12th with 665 karma. 162 comments is tied for 20th most for the week and has a comment to karma ratio of 0.24. MAL score starts off at 7.39. Also close to being 10th and just needed 3 more karma, but it's nice to see Millie at the start of this series now.
**Chained Soldier S2** drops -8 spots to 13th with 571 karma which is -503 karma from last week. 87 comments is -137 comments from last week, does not make Top 30 in comments for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.15. MAL score is 7.50 which is +0.01 from last week. Big Ep. 2 drop, but nice to see the MAL score up and may Shushu get some type of win with Yuuki. Also big fan of Ren. She is very cute + HanaKana bonus.
**Tune In to the Midnight Heart** drops -7 spots to 14th with 529 karma which is -386 karma from last week. 171 comments is -124 comments from last week, part of that 4-way tie for 15th most for the week, and a strong comment to karma ratio of 0.32. MAL score is 7.24 which is -0.05 from last week. Got to like the commitment Yamabuki has to attempt to back up all of his narcissism and Nene is shooting up for me.
**‘Tis Time for Torture Princess S2** debuts at 15th with 453 karma. 131 comments is 27th most for the week and has a comment to karma ratio of 0.29. MAL score starts off at 7.59. Like the very meta OP a lot and that's not the only meta humor in this episode with the S2 celebration in the episode.
**GNOSIA** returns at 16th which is -8 spots from two weeks ago with 438 karma which is +62 karma from two weeks ago. 222 comments is -69 comments from two weeks ago, 10th most for the week, and an incredibly strong comment to karma ratio of 0.51. Yuri and Setsu bonding, but we're more focused on the greater overarching mystery plot than the games of the individual loops right now. Valiant effort for this show to almost be on the left side, but I feel it will keep hanging out on the right side since a certain elf will have a permanent spot in Top 2 at the minimum.
**The Holy Grail of Eris** drops -6 spots to 17th with 434 karma which is -168 karma from last week. 175 comments is -71 comments from last week, tied for 13th most for the week with *Journal with Witch*, and a very strong comment to karma ratio of 0.40. We have a big mysterious conspiracy set up (+ the standard Ep. 2 karma drop) and still loving the Constance and Scarlett dynamic. Unfortunate that it dropped out of Top 15 though.
**Roll Over and Die** moves down -3 spots to 19th with 418 karma which is -8 karma from last week. 227 comments is -107 comments from last week, 9th most for the week, and an incredibly strong comment to karma ratio of 0.54. The party seeing the consequences of getting rid of Jean's punching bag. Meanwhile, Flum suffering continues with having to do her own amputation. Karma was maintained but even with 107 less comments this week, engagement remains high for this show.
**Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary** debuts at 21st with 393 karma. 154 comments is 23rd most for the week and has a strong comment to karma ratio of 0.39. Kaya is cute and can be scary, but also punching out these ghosts as a kindergartner is cool. And she's got someone supporting her now in Chie-sensei too. Hope this can stay in the Top 30 for the entirety of the season.
**Tamon’s B-Side** moves down -3 spots to 22nd with 376 karma which is +53 karma from last week. 140 comments is +1 comment from last week, 25th most for the week, and a strong comment to karma ratio of 0.37. Karma is up, but still went down 3 spots in a really stacked season. Still, there's a lot to love here like seeing Utage ready to beat Ouri's ass for how he treats Tamon. That is obsessed fan power right there.
**Wash It All Away** drops -9 spots to 23rd with 319 karma which is -116 karma from last week. 92 comments is -97 comments from last week, does not make Top 30 in comments for the week, and a comment to karma ratio of 0.29. Oof to that karma drop, but this episode amused me with a little gremlin in Nairo and seeing Kinme dealing with her.
**To Your Eternity S3** returns at 24th which is -10 spots from two weeks ago with 293 karma which is +62 karma from two weeks ago. 99 comments is -66 comments from two weeks ago, does not make Top 30 in comments for the week, and a strong comment to karma ratio of 0.34.

Part 2 of the Recap:
___
**Scum of the Brave** debuts at 26th with 288 karma. 86 comments does not make Top 30 in comments for the week and has a strong comment to karma ratio of 0.30. Some serious genre blending here with Magical Girl Aki and Detective Yashiro in a battle shonen world, but it seems like this show might struggle to stay Top 30. At least Rocket Shōkai also has *Sentenced to Be a Hero* this season too.
**Champignon Witch** is at 28th which is -8 spots from Ep. 1 and -5 spots from Ep. 2 last week with 276 karma which is -38 karma from Ep. 1 and +4 karma from Ep. 2. 83 comments is -17 comments from Ep. 1 and -6 comments from Ep. 2, does not make Top 30 in comments for the week, and a strong comment to karma ratio of 0.30.
**In the Clear Moonlit Dusk** debuts at 30th with 266 karma. 127 comments is tied for 28th most for the week with *The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom* and has a very strong comment to karma ratio of 0.48. A romance between a princely girl and a delinquent is unique, but debuting at 30th means there might not be a lot of opportunities to talk about this show on these Sunday posts.
Special shoutout to **Isekai Office Worker: The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter** in 42nd with 146 karma with a [60% upvote ratio on the episode thread](https://old.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/1qbsvp8/isekai_no_sata_wa_shachiku_shidai_isekai_office/). That is at least Top 30 for this week if not for targeted downvoting. **476 comments** is +184 comments from last week, 4th most for the week, and has an inflated (or deflated?) absurd comment to karma ratio of 3.22. Very interesting way to cure mana sickness. Interesting enough to drive this show to Top 5 for comments.
___
**Favorite banner of the week**: *Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary*. Square up ghosts. 2nd would be *Wash It All Away*. Same Kinme. Same. 3rd would be *Chained Soldier S2*.

Okay, why in the world is The Darwin Incident rated so low? I know the animation is pretty bare bones, but it's got some really interesting writing/setup so far.
Commentaires
Their presentation won me over because it didn't detract from the small character moments and it just looks snazzy. Part of me wishes a scene like that existed for Gundam or a similar military-based show.
The dark shonen trio
Frieren's episode missed the cutoff, but it's going there next week.
OnK S3 at #2! Shiboyugi dropped 3 spots, but that was still a good episode!
She is helping her friend that is having a mental breakdown :/
[](#awe)
Knowledge of the extended Nasu multiverse enhances the experience but is not necessary to enjoy an individual main entry of Fate.
As someone who's completely out of the loop, why is that? What happened?
Im in the camp that still finds it interesting through sheer novelty but I wouldnt question why people would drop it.
Frieren will remember that
>Happy to see **In the Clear Moonlit Dusk** sneaking in at 30th.
I have a feeling that it won't make it to the top 30 next week. I've seen many complaining about the premise being too boring and the style of anime failing adapt the beautiful artstyle of the manga
That's how good episode two was. It awakened something in them, and that made them uncomfortable. Give it time, though. This is how it starts for young fujin.
i should watch onk i forgot about it
Lapin Track are cooking hard on the production side as always.
If you were to create a tier list of studios, they would have to be a top tier.
Karma basically dropped in half with just one episode
Last week it appears a few days before hells paradise and oshi no ko & frieren came out a week later.
Karma is based off how much people talk about the show so having so many shows with highly anticipated seasons coming was gonna affect the karma.
Plus it will probably bounce back, I we need is one good ecchi or fight scene to get the general audience intrigued
To be fair, OnK is a premiere while JJK is an Ep 2. With the next week, let's see what happens to these two, like which will get Number 2.
Obviously Frieren will be Number 1 next week.
About that, i think you have no idea what's coming next week
RemindMe! 1 week
[Thanks, mods!](#modsalute)
(Because of the somewhat more comedic tone of scum of the brave, that dynamic does also fit more here)
Too pink for me!
> Tamon's B side
One of the best this season, incredible dynamic carried by the production and Saori Hayami
>Journal with witch
Didn't see any picture with a big hat, is that even a witch show?
>Sentenced to be a hero
Good, but it still needs to show it is more than just a cute goddess and great animation, the latter might even implode later on due to the Zoom100 syndrome here, so it really needs to be more than that
No
It's entirely real life, and in fact the Japanese title was more like "Diary of Exotic Lands", which is *yet* another genre that the show isn't about
But it's like that because it's about a child who lost their parents, and now lives with a relative who is a writer - the writer is the metaphorical witch, and the new environment is the metaphorical "exotic country".
>One of the best this season, incredible dynamic carried by the production and Saori Hayami
The anime is already so successful that they are rapidly reprinting the manga in Japan
[](#cinema)
Between, ONK, FSF, Jigo and Sentenced to be a Hero, the battle for #3 throughout the weeks will be quite fascinating.
JJK should be #2 easily with the priority eps doing very good.
We would have to wait and see what JJK gets next Thursday. Frieren will end up at 7k which I don't expect to be enough to triple whatever JJK gets since that just got 2.6k with a pure 20 minute exposition dump.
Also, exposition episode, so JJK might not reflect true numbers, but damn we have hard competition in the top 3 and the three following. Although Frieren blew through all with a whopping 7k
I will continue watching just because it has shown some glimpses of potential.
As always, kudos to the people selecting the screen shots. I always have a chuckle when I see what was selected this week.
Looks like we are settling for around 450 karma to gain place on the "Top 15" side this season.
The story (so far) is about both of them processing their grief and making a life together. It is really good. It hits me like the ending of Your Lie in April, but stretched out into a series with working through the grief.
Taken out of context, the Territory Defense image looks more like rage than \[Territory Defense\]>!disappointment masked by fake happiness!<.
It would be interesting if we included the karma and comments of those shows discussion threads on their dedicated subreddits. As a side thing. But that sounds like a lot of work.
[](#deadlystare)
Sucks how many people would say "don't censor or change the series I like to appease the majority, don't like? Don't watch it." Will then go hate raid a series they don't like.
Only disappointment of the chart is the fact that the Champignon Witch is this low. I feel that show has really great potential. The only issue is the narration, but I do hope that it gets reduced now that the narrator has been introduced to the story.
Also the furry lynx(?) lady is cool. Anime needs more cat girls and similar like her or Izutsimi (Dungeon Meshi), rather than those who just look like regular humans with cat ears glued on.
I do like the cat girl and her full body design too. I hope there will be more non-human characters introduced.
It's worth checking out if you ever need something to watch!
EDIT: Sucks Maou Musume dropped form the chart.
Really hits a particular mood for me and it has been super great so far. My dark horse of the season so far
Teoritta was so cute this episode (she always are). Im almost getting annoyed at how Xylo is so cold towards her. She deserves all the hugs and praise in the world.
I so want Polar Opposites to stay high in the rankings. Definitely one of the better romcoms.
And a shout out to **The Other World's Books Depend on the Bean Counter** for a second episode so powerful, and so transformative, that a group of self-appointed censors tried to bury it in downvotes. It was so good, they worried about how popular it would be. What an honor.

**Favorite banner of the week**: *Kaya-chan Isn’t Scary*. Square up ghosts. 2nd would be *Wash It All Away*. Same Kinme. Same. 3rd would be *Chained Soldier S2*.
