🤢🤮
Dropped this one.
[The author of this anime has to be this guy](https://i.imgflip.com/ksrn2.jpg?a491304)
This episode was better than the previous one but it's still quick paced.
With how smart he's supposed to be in all the other areas, you'd think he'd understand that.
I love these casual, build a powerbase, OP MC type shows. I also enjoy the "collect the pieces" way of building you power base. He doesn't have as much likability as Ars Lovent but he is fun. Like, I think he shoulda told the swordmaster walking away that "hey, uhm, the sword kinda gives this advantage but thank you" or someshit. I like when the MC adds that personal touch to keep people liking him.
He is applying common sense as a normal person (He is rumored to be in the high teens, maybe 20 before being reincarnated) who now actually has the position talk sternly to power and point out what most of us could see in everyday politiking. Him killing those 6 dudes is a bit much, i prefer the "let your subordinates do it" style better but I know what I'm watching and I am here for it.
This MC’s personality and actions just don’t work with the age and theme of the show.
Other shows make it work by making the personality be rather immature, aloof, or innocent so it fits the age somewhat.
This kid acting and doing the things he does is just very weird and doesn’t work. Either you make the mc atleast act somewhat like a kid. Or you make them into an adult.
In this one it's almost like there isn't a story, world, or characters for us to watch. This might as well be a PowerPoint presentation of the MC dialogue. Just jump from slide to slide of the MC saying the most boring "I can't be wrong" statements while someone important glazes him.
The closest thing to a story with stakes was when the older brother gives him a gift he can't refuse of a sword that may make him go insane. And the MC can't immediately refuse it and he doesn't immediately have complete control over it. It also gives us story to speculate the brothers motives.
Meanwhile in this episode assassin's show up. But don't worry MC isn't blind sided and he will kill them instantly. Oh did we want to interrogate them? MC is 4D chess ahead of us and already thought of that so he didn't actually kill them he just put them to sleep with a sword move that has been shown to us before but not shown this time.
Even if the story never *flirts* with that territory... I don't trust Japan with setups like these.
Especially not when this episode confirmed that the Emps just grabs whatever maids he likes and they can't refuse.
And given the greater context of that conversation, it seems like families send maids to the royal palace under the expectation they be *put to use.*
So then we circle back to all the pretty little maids surrounding the young master in sexualized clothing.
Is this part of the power fantasy?
He's SIX.
This show has the vibes of How a Realist Rebuilt the Kingdom, but everything about this one is so wrong.
The pacing is dogshit, the MC is unappealing, the family relationship is off, the artifacts/items are boring, the overall story is okay, but everything else that progresses the story is not appealing and the stuff that doesn't progress the story is worse. This episode was 50 times better than episode 2, but it's still dog shit.
The kid is too young to be that intelligent and it ruins the whole pacing of the show... he has no flaw, he's utterly OP and he will never fail anything. As soon as he encounter someone, that person becomes his underling... It's just so dumb.
That still leaves a lot left who might or might not be asses and who will fight mc for the throne
The vibe I got was the gift of Leviathan was not intended to work out like it did. Also, the way he's shown in the Op makes him come off as evil, so I assume that's coming at some point.
Crown prince day 2: My dear loving brother, lets hunt for treasures together in the market! No way I could let you pay for this ring, let me treat you!
There are 12 other princes. They aren't all the same person.
I think the confusing part was the sudden rebellion. Definitely seems manufactured.
I do wonder if the king also has a similar system, so he can infer a likely scenario based on changes in his stats. It would also explain why he keeps on putting his dough into multiple new ovens to see which one will pump out the best loaf.
Take away the horse feed and the horses will become useless, thereby leveling the playing field for the princes to take control.
He's just trying to gain any advantage he can before the fight starts, as he should. You shouldn't fight a war you're not confident in winning.
There's probably some plot involving where the horses the purchased and why but I don't care enough to think about that atm. Might be a foreign adversary manipulating things imo. We'll know more next week.
First of all, how do you get the feed out of territories under their control during their uprising?
Safe to say all those feeds would've already been purchased prior the war.
Another thing to criticize the flaw of insight within his territorial ruling, prior the war there should be mass purchase as the sign yet there's no such report he received.
If he wants to purchase all horse feed to prevent enemies from having it, the best he could do is to buy it off the villages, cities and towns that would most likely be their next stop.
Besides, how much could you expect to achieve with buying all horse feed...? A prepared army would have enough to keep for the horse for at least a week or a month. Buying them from merchant would be optional.
Also, horse doesn't starve if you take away their fodders... They can graze!!!
There's literally grasses everywhere in the wild, throughout the entire territory... Else how the heck the Mongols kept their horses alive all the time.
Those fodders sold by merchants were just additional nutrients for the horse. They included dried dead grass, oats and barley with some random mix...
The cavalry wouldn't find their horse starve overnight because of the almost nothing that he did...
Also if he attempts to starve the rebels, it would only hasten their war progress by advancing throughout the territory even faster before their war supply runs out. Psychologically it can backfire.
The author is really bad at writing warfare, yet trying so hard to make protagonist looks smart to people with little knowledge on how war works.
For a minister of finance, he sure doesn't knows how the power of money and deception works... Ironic someone like him ended up in imperial court position.
However, his province isn't known for cavalry.
So where did these rebellious cavalrymen come from?
The implication is that they are astroturfed partisans being agitated, and supported, by some outside force.
Buying up all the local horse feed is an attempt to starve them of war supplies in a province that doesn't have much horse feed in the first place.
If nothing else, being caught without feed limits their mobility and how much ground they can cover in any given day. That's why they normally keep large amounts of horse feed with them so the horses always have nutrient-dense food they can quickly eat, regardless of terrain, without having to slow down.
Grass may be plentiful, but it's not very filling. Pushing the horses hard in combat or just zipping around for guerilla tactics to stay ahead of pursuers will tire them out quickly. A few bites of grass here and there won't keep them healthy enough for that pace.
As in, horse-drawn carriages used to transport goods. Also, nobility and any other 'well-to-do' person that keeps horses for transport.
I'm not kidding when I say horses need a ton of grass. We're talking upwards of 8 hours a day grazing if the horse doesn't have any better food to munch on.
Several hours a day spent eating is several hours a day the horse isn't pulling the carriage, not to mention nobles that keep their horses in the city year-round need something to feed them.
His home province doesn't have a military use for horse feed, so what's in circulation is low levels for civilian and mercantile use. If there were stockpiled warehouses for the cavalry division + merchants/logistical teams that supply the military in the area, that would be one thing.
But there isn't, so he can sweep the small amount of horse feed off the civilian market and starve the partisans in the process.
No songstress with a new insert song either which automatically made it a worse episode. That said we did get full versions for a few of her songs which is nice.

[Insert song 1 (my favorite so far)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VZKIUSScQBI)
[Insert song 2 (I think for a future episode, I don't remember it)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-7cOsAZtBiQ)
This show embodies a very shallow and juvenile understanding of the world, morality, justice, power, human nature, and especially social interactions. So I can't enjoy the power fantasy aspect because this entire world is a perfect representation of how a 13 year old boy thinks the world works and how people think and interact. It's not a place I want to even pretend to exist in as an adult.
It's very similar to My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero in that regard, but that had other redeeming qualities that let me better overcome the trashiness.
Also interestingly, so far I prefer this to the assassin one lol.
Why is the empire so martial and obsessed with military might? Does it have enemies, or is it expansionist and conquering other nations? Are these rebels actually rebelling against an oppressive central government that has conquered them by force?
So little time is spent building up any characters, they all just seem to be convenient pokemon for the MC to collect with a few clever words or one vaguely good deed that doesn't actually cost him much personally...
Good to see this one doing great so far.
But usually there are character relationships to speculate and root for and against. All are nonexistent in this, along with there being almost no world building for me to care about.
It's hard to describe but this last episode especially feels like I'm being told a story instead of shown. Worse it feels like the story I'm being told is a bland retelling.
There is just no energy or stakes. 6 year old kid just says and does the most boring on the nose cliché and continues to be rewarded beyond measure. Atleast other slop shows try to hide the obvious behind colorful characters and mascots.
This is the most boring soulless thing I've ever seen. There is no twist or story. MC just says the most boring, wanna be dark/cringe dialogue and it's just gospel. Dude doesn't even doubt himself at times... he's just right in the most boring way possible.
The assassin scene is a great example. "They are here". Zero foreshadowing, misdirection, or any stakes whatsoever. Then we don't even get a good action sequence. Oh and wouldn't it be great to interrogate them? Well actually MC is playing 4d chess and just knocked them out as he "Cut them down".
It's almost like there could be this cool story of a child prodigy making his mark on society. He masters ancienr magic swords and navigates backstabbing politics to forge new alliances making him exponentially stronger.... but we are getting the boring cliff notes.
Atleast they didn't make the scenes where a group of maids handwash his body or where the maids discuss what a 6 year olds sexual preferences are.
Part of consuming seasonal anime is being able to see it's flaws even when we enjoy it. This is a fantasy power isekai, we know we did not sign up for a carefully crafted story with layers of visual and emotional depth. We fondly refer to this type of show as trash anime that we come back to every week. Some to either see how much more ridiculous it can get and have a good time with it, or others to see how much more ridiculous it can get and have a little fun complaining about it.
Now that that is out of the way, what I cannot wrap my head around is how the great sasuga Noah makes Zoey his personal maid WALK outside the carrige **always** in every scene with him riding inside the carrige she is outside. Even if it's raining she stays outside. If they need to hurry and quickly get to the emperor--who's castle is on top of a large hill/small mountain side--she doesn't jump inside, instead she runs outside alongside the carrige. For some reason this particular choice they made takes me out of the story. Noah is supposed to be an exceptionally caring an empathetic character, yet he doesn't have the decency to allow his personal maid to ride with him or at least in the front with the driver. Poor Zoey's feet must be either fully calloused or blistered all over.
And yet I will still comeback next week and hopefully they correct this travesty of justice and allow Zoey to ride inside a carrige for once.
Like, I'd take this over 'refusal to see what's directly in front of you for 10 episodes in a row'-level of ignorance. Or "5 episodes of tension over a very difficult problem with lives at stake but the OP MC could fix it instantly if literally anyone asked and several people explicitly know this from the start, but they don't ask until [important person] is dead." Or "Actually OP MC is doing something other people could do if they tried, its just no one has tried" with a side of "Other characters have learned now, but they don't do anything relevant all cour so that the MC can do it. Even when the MC struggles, no one else helps."
If the MC is just going to be OP and do everything on their own anyway, I'd rather them *not* introduce characters just to shaft, because that's annoying lol.
That said, he should still train. Even if he wants to hide that his skills are attached to the sword, in case he ends up without it or something and not show that weakness, there should be some excuse to train. But it's probably indicative of there not being any future challenges that ever challenge him martially. He's just going to continue to effortlessly bulldoze through everything, I imagine.
It's also very silly to have 0 discussion of what the rebellion is about. Of all the things they gloss over for a smooth power fantasy, that's possibly the silliest so far. Even if they address it later, it's a rebellion in his territory. They basically treated it like a video game event. A pop-up appears that says "An event affecting your territory occurred! It is a [Rebellion]. How will you deal with it?" And then he clicked "Delegate to [Ally with highest military stat]"
His power also implies that the way a rebellion works is that, within the span of a few hours at most, people suddenly click off from loyal to unloyal in one go lol. I suppose it's supposed to be 'at the moment they they officially join another faction.' rather than at the moment they stop feeling like part of his.
Also in most fantasy worlds, ranks become more significant the higher the rank (kind of like a logarithmic curve), so you would expect SS>S to be a MUCH bigger blow than just 'I lost 1 of X ranks, so it must be a small proportion." Especially since the S>SS rank upgrade was from the sword, and he was born with a higher water rank (E instead of F)? So it's not like 100% of his rank is from the people of Almeria.
I'm not sure what the correct term is, maybe "peaking"? Whatever it's called, it'll sometimes sound kinda distorted, especially when they're speaking loudly, that's pretty much the only thing I could focus on during the episode because of how often it happened...
Felt like they were using some low quality mics or something.
I cannot, for the life of me, even tell you the MC's name. In fact the only character I actually know by name is Prince Henry and unfortunately I'm not sure if Henry is the brother was gave away the cursed sword (which ironically did more than anything else to boost the MC's fame and power) or not.
Sidenote: The MC's bedroom always looks so goddamn depressing. Maybe it's the strange overuse of blue tones but it looks like the room is just covered in blackout curtains except for the tiny bit of light that is allowed in when he's dressing. Someone open a damn window! He's 6, he needs fresh air and natural light!
