anime recs where the female lead is more popular with girls than the male lead?

Examples I could think of are Maid-Sama and Tomo-chan Is A Girl. I watched the first season of Kimi ni Todoke and wasn't able to continue it, even though I know it's a classic. I watched Tomo-chan before it, and I enjoyed it very much (I was annoyed at times but that doesn't really matter).

Anyways, it's been a while since I watched Maid Sama, so I'm not entirely sure. But I remember the girls swooning over Misaki and not Usui. Then, in Tomo-chan Is A Girl, there were these two girls who became really fond of Tomo.

IDK. I guess I just don't really like the popular guy + love triangle with another girl trope that much.

maybe In the Clear Moonlit Dusk? It is airing atm, there are only two episodes out so far, but i really like the manga. the guy is popular, but the female mc is too. she has a kind of boyish look and behaves like a gentleman, so people call her “prince” and swoon over her, while she just wants to be seen like a girl

Big fan of Tomo-chan here. Have you seen Horimiya? The female lead is the more popular person of the couple and has at least one girl fall for her during the series. You could also go full yuri and try something like There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Become Your Lover! Unless… or Rock is a Lady’s Modesty. I have not seen Horimiya yet, but I'm pretty sure I've seen it in my feed before. I think confuse it between Ao Haru Ride all the time lol. I just read the synopsis and I don't think I really like the outcast trope (> ～⁠ <;⁠)⁠ゞ I tried watching My Dress-up Darling and only ended up watching two episodes. I haven't gotten around to watching yuri (im still scared lmaoo), and I've never heard the two you mentioned before. They both seem interesting! Especially Rock Is a Lady's Modesty since I'm planning to watch some girl band stuff sometime in the future. I also haven't watched/read any harem (willingly) yet. It also seems interesting. My Dress up darling maybe? The mc isn't very popular, and the female lead has a lot of friends(mostly girls), and gets along with basically anybody later introduced. It is centered around the MCs perspective, so watching her interact with other characters isn't there a TON, but I think it's definitely a consistent and important narrative element

I don't think Maid Sama applies, Usui is supposed to be super popular and every girl in the show will immediately crush on him as soon as they meet.

Misaki is popular too but Usui more so.

But I think almost every romance that is from a Shonen/Seinen manga usually has an unpopular ML and popular FL lead/leads with female admirers/fans to boot.
