Blue Exorcist: Is it worth finishing the series?

I had watched the first 2 seasons (found the 1st season in highscool and watched the 2nd in college) and though the story line shift was jarring I had liked it. The art style was fun, characters were endearing, premise was cool... Not the best but it was good and I was looking forward to the next season. Well next season took so much time that I barely remembered where the show left things off and my life was a lot busier compared to highschool or college. Now that the show completed I thought I'd finish it for old times sake but I see mixed reviews. I usually watch things with my husband now as part of weeknights together time and he isn't wanting to watch the last 36 episodes with me. Which would take us a few weeks to finish. So if I want to watch this it will be a personal time commitment on my alone time.

What do you guys think about the show if you finished it? Also if you think it's worth watching the rest, can someone please remind me what was happening by the end of season 2?

We will usually find something to watch together slowly with my husband. It's not that I have nothhing else to watch. More so I am trying to see if the nostalgia and my usual wish to complete things (after 2 seasons in I felt like my old self made a commitment)... But I don't know if that is being unreasonable.

That sounds a bit like cost sunk fallacy. I do think the newer seasons are a bit more focused, but I just never thought particularly highly of Ao no Exorcist so I can't recommend it. If you want to check it out because you hold it in regard then why not? The sloppy handling of S1 into S2 doesn't effect 3 and 4 as much.

Would you recommend something else?

I recently started Fire Force with my partner and it had reminded me of the Blue Exorcist. That’s how I realized it had new seasons all of a sudden. We are just starting season 3 now in time for the rest of the season being animated. We will also be watching Frieren as it comes out.

We finished Zenshu and Apothecary Diaries before this. We put a few other shorter series as possible to watch on the list that we will likely start once we catch up to Fire Force. Honestly I am open to a lot of types of anime except Harem or Isekai without purpose or characterization ones…

Not in any particular order and probably with some Nisa about how life was feeling when I watched these:

- FMAB, Apothecary Diaries, Black Cat (İ know, this one is weird). And honestly my honorable mention would be Kaguya Sama.

I recently rewatched it and honestly, it was enjoyable. Certainly nothing to write home about and I think there are more interesting series to watch that would take priority, but it’s still a fun watch.

I didn't realize it was still on going. Did they finish the anime's storyline or are they planning more seasons?

Honestly what made me want to finish this was closure about whee the series will go. If it won't provide that I don't think I will watch it right now.

I don’t think they gave it a second anime only end after the original s1 ending. Honestly the story isn’t that great even where the mangas at imo

This is one that improved with each season. I enjoyed the latest season the most. If you’re a fan of the genre, it’s a good watch. It’s not the best of the best, but few things are. It’s definitely not the worst.
