I NEED MORE ANIMES RECOMMENDATIONS RELATED TO ROCK AND METAL

Listen I like me a good action, romance, sci fi animes and shi, but I’m kind of bored of it and I want more in line with the other stuff I like, I’m a huge rock, alternative, metal guy(Yes my pfp is Dave Mustaine of Megadeth that literally proves my point), I know Boochi the Rock is one that comes to mind and still have yet to seen it, so I ask if anyone here just give me some recommendations that you people think are in my line of interest, please and thank you

Ruri Rocks - wait wrong Rocks and Metals…

Glittering_Major48712026-01-18 20:27

The movie On Gaku is a lot of fun. More DIY punk but still a great movie.

Morphumaxx2026-01-18 20:28

Rock is a Lady's Modesty is a fun twist on the trope, good focus on the actual performances too.

Embarrassed-Poem9532026-01-18 20:32

And it has some nice characters too.

Fl_Funky_Jam2026-01-18 20:39

There's nothing better than feeling raw unadulterated pleasure while jamming out with your friends

Tarhalindur2026-01-18 20:29

Let's go old school here (if you can find the darn thing, may have to go sailing the high seas): The Legend of Black Heaven

JacksonIVXX2026-01-18 20:31

Rock and rule 1983

Heavymetal 1981

NOMursE2026-01-18 21:46

**Rock and Rule** is awesome and Canadian, and stars Debby Harry, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, Robin Zander. It’s awesome. And if you go by the Japanese definition of anime it works.

SageOfCats2026-01-18 20:31

Legend of Black Heaven is an anime about a Japanese salaryman who has to get his old band back together to save the world from aliens through the power of heavy metal. Seems like it might fit the bill.

Money_Statement_98612026-01-18 20:38

If the opening doesnt [sell the anime](https://youtu.be/DFOF9acNUH8?si=U_7EFiAt4Jka7OYx) nothing will.

porpoiseoflife2026-01-18 21:20

I still have Cautionary Warning on my phone's playlist.

Back when I did my top ten anime openings of all time, this was my pick for best English language opening song ahead of entries like Duvet, Shiver, and How Far To Paradise.

S3xyflanders2026-01-18 22:54

The English dub of the main character is Beau Billingslea if you've watched the English dub of Cowboy Bebop you instantly recognize the voice. My favorite is either [Beck Mongolian Chop Squad](https://anilist.co/manga/30145/BECK) and [Detroit Metal City](https://anilist.co/anime/3702/Detroit-Metal-City)

TheBlobThingy2026-01-18 20:36

Ave Mujica

Rock wa Lady no Tashinami deshite

Detroit Metal City

Kachou Ouji

Girls Band Cry

Nana

NOMursE2026-01-18 21:57

**Macross 7** is an amazing pick for a rock anime. The rest are great but for “rock band saves the world” this is awesome.

MusubiKazesaru2026-01-18 22:07

7 honestly has the best music of the bunch here. Fire Bomber are genuinely excellent. I'd say the main con is that it takes a while to do songs besides Planet Dance, but Totsugeki Love Heart the second son introduced is so good it tides you over until you start to get way more all at once.

Of course it's improved if you've seen the original series too.

trapmegazord2026-01-18 20:38

beck mongolian chop squad is sick

blackninjakitty2026-01-18 20:38

Caveat; the music is good and the character designs are good but the plot is pretty trash: Visual Prison

Flcl has a great soundtrack and agretsuko would be THE metal anime you would love

IntroductionRare52712026-01-18 20:49

Deathlok// edit: Metalocalypse- not an anime but animation absolutely goated highly recommended

FLCL - coming of age story with a heavy emphasis on music

Zombieland Saga - go in blind, ignore anything you may think if you read the synopsis, absolutely awesome show

Bastard! - also worth checking out

kurokitsune912026-01-18 20:51

>Deathlok- not an anime but animation absolutely goated highly recommended

The show itself is called Metalocalypse

IntroductionRare52712026-01-18 20:52

Fuck you're right deathlok is the band lmao my brain no good today

Alert-Act-75402026-01-18 20:55

I’ve already seen Metalocalypse but thank you for the recommendations

Old_Celebration_59502026-01-18 21:36

Came to post Metalocalypse. There is a line about how brutal Danbury, CT was. My two boys and I lived in the next town over.

HirokoKueh2026-01-18 22:11

yes, Zombieland Saga. it feels like at the beginning they wanted to get many different music genres to represent each girls, then it has gradually became Saki's playlist, the recent movie album is full on hard rock.

cjrunswithcrows2026-01-18 20:50

How did I never realize that there is a whole music anime genre lol I’m going to have to check out a few of these recommendations

Weak-Candy-86752026-01-18 20:53

You definitely need to watch Beck the mangolian chop squad

TheBusStop122026-01-18 20:53

Detroit Metal City

Girls Band Cry

Archy382026-01-18 20:58

Beck Mongolian Chop Squad is a bit old but one of my favourites, plenty of attention to rock and punk music with real references to players of our history.

Good drama/comedy and romance aswell.

Other comments have already names the newer shows that were also amazing but it is rare to see it fleshed out as the older stuff.

BalecIThink2026-01-18 21:03

Ya Boy Kongming! (Paripi Komei) is a weird but great take on the music industry. Legendary Chinese strategist reborn in modern Tokyo uses his tactics to help a young woman rise in the music scene. It's got heart, comedy, great music and more than a bit of melancholy.

No-Draw-65642026-01-18 21:08

Macross 7

ayers2312026-01-18 21:22

It's old, but Raven Tengu Kabuto is a full on metal soundtrack. It's also free on Youtube:

GIRLS BAND CRY

Moule142026-01-18 21:45

Girl band cry is a good one

Titanhunter842026-01-18 21:48

Angel Beats has a Rock Band in it, their Songs are even on YouTube! The band is called „Girls Dead Monster“ it’s a sad anime so bring some tissues.

sexydemonking6662026-01-18 21:59

Stupid suggestion but I really liked back street gokudolls as a fellow alternative person

UnkleMonsta2026-01-18 22:02

Rock wa lady no Tashinami, Carol and Tuesday (not really rock but has great music), Nana and I'll throw K-on in there cause I like it.

plastikmissile2026-01-18 22:07

If you don't mind mecha and the crazy pacifist pilot who rides them then I can recommend Macross 7, almost solely because it features the vocals of Yoshiki Fukuyama. One of the greatest Japanese rock singers ever, who is currently part of JAM Project.

Ok_Rest49512026-01-18 22:12

Cowboy Bebop it has session titles that are direct references to classic rock and blues songs. Like "Sympathy for the Devil" (The Rolling Stones)
"Toys in the Attic" (Aerosmith)
"Bohemian Rhapsody" (Queen). 🎸🤘😃

icchann2026-01-18 22:18

There's only a handful.

oedipusrex3762026-01-18 22:22

Ave Mujica has metal and gothic influences, but you should watch its prequel, MyGO, first. You can check out one of their performances [here](https://youtu.be/W0DCsoJPCa8?si=PC3Ss4AsH-WQjr0H).

yknLast2026-01-18 22:47

Then look at Beck
