I finished Attack on titan recently, and my friend recommended me to watch code geass saying its like attack on titan. I'm on episode 11, and I'm not really enjoying it as much as I thought I would. Does it get better?

if you aren’t enjoying it by 11 episodes, then it probably isn’t for you. just drop it and try something else!
Mynameis2cool4u2026-01-19 01:31
Honestly it took me until 13 to get into it
ActualRound76992026-01-19 01:47
for some people it might. I have a one episode rule personally.
Guilty-Tell2026-01-19 03:05
One episode? Oh boy do whatever you want but so many animes have terrible first episodes but get better real fast. With the most recent come to my mind are Dandadan and The Dangers in my Heart. Both were kinda cringe in Episode 1 but are real bangers once you get past the intial weird beginning.
ActualRound76992026-01-19 03:27
I like fan service so I loved Dandadan from the start. Dangers in My Heart too because the MC was interesting enough from episode one that I wanted to see what happened. So, at least for me those are bad examples.
tbh, every anime I have ever watched, I got invested in from the first episode. Without fail. While I dropped Haikyuu midway through the first episode because of the line like “I look at the net and wonder what’s on the other side” or some cheesy Im 14 and this is deep shit. haven’t gone back since and have never regretted it. never will go back either.
there is a lot I will never give a chance to from the go.
* Monogatari just insists upon itself and acts super edgy and philosophical. Don’t have the patience
* I don’t like sports IRL, so…no sports anime
* I am not interested in yaoi so, no BL
* I don’t really care for robots and anything mech irl so…pretty much no mech. I’ve watched two and Im not interested in any more
* i dont really enjoy battle shonen. So no DBZ, Bleach, Black Clover, Solo Leveling
I never felt FOMO from any of it either. That’s why the one episode rule works for me, personally.
Guilty-Tell2026-01-19 03:46
I was not saying you should watch genres you don't like or try everything, but at least for me there are quite a few animes where the start did not do the series justice. Well and for the examples I used like the start of Dangers in my Heart is so different from the whole rest of this series. The character Kyo is nothing like he comes across at the start and if I did not stick around for 3-5 episodes, I would have missed out big time is all I was trying to say. All the murder stuff was just almost unwatchable for me at least.
The_Persistence2026-01-19 00:31
Yes. When it comes to storytelling there's two phases. The buildup and the Payoff
You're currently in the buildup phase...
aohige_rd2026-01-19 00:31
Code Geass was really good from early on, so if you're a full cour into it and not enjoying it then it's probably just not your cup of tea.
I guess you could continue watching until that... certain bloodbath, but it probably won't change your mind.
rockyKlo2026-01-19 00:31
If you're not enjoying it, it's usually isn't worth it to continue. If you're unsure you can always just put the show on hold and try it later.
dbsanyone2026-01-19 00:31
It does not, the total story line is…okay, but it’s definitely not anywhere in top tier anime like attack on titan
Ill_Palpitation93152026-01-19 00:33
watch Chainsaw Man instead.
ConsistentEye22152026-01-19 06:37
I’ve seen it already
Ill_Palpitation93152026-01-20 01:34
No, you haven't.
ConsistentEye22152026-01-20 02:38
Huh wdym
robbyiss2026-01-19 00:34
Not enjoying = drop. Everyone has their own tastes. This was me with my friend recommending To be hero x, animation was cool but I just wasn't feeling it.
dienomighte2026-01-19 00:34
It somehow becomes dumber and dumber as it goes on, and more and more melodramatic. I like dumb, melodramatic things that takes themselves way too seriously with absolutely wild, unearned plot twists so I found it really entertaining, but it's definitely not for everyone.
PPGN_DM_Exia2026-01-19 06:58
The reason you liked it are the exact reasons I didn't. To each their own haha.
PPGN_DM_Exia2026-01-19 00:35
In my opinion, no. In fact, I thought it got worse as it went along. I forced myself to finish it and was left disappointed. Never bothered with R2 or anything after that.
AnimeTA2242026-01-19 00:46
If you didn't watch R2 you didn't finish it, R2 is just Season 2 of the show.
PPGN_DM_Exia2026-01-19 06:46
Both Wikipedia and MAL call it a sequel. Either way, I didn't feel like watching more of it.
AnimeTA2242026-01-19 06:49
MAL calls all subsequent seasons of shows sequels. I'm not saying you had to watch it. If it's not for you, it's not for you. I'm just letting you know you haven't seen all of the original series.
H_DANILO2026-01-19 00:36
Code Geass is a gundam anime, although few people recognize it, most gundam animes revolves around politics and strategy, if you didn't dig it by now, you're unlikely to dig enough for the plot to stick to you, the plot is absolutely the best plot i've seen on anime so far.
On the otherhand, I dropped Attack on titan midway. It felt too generic and a little bit of repeat on what i've seen on other animes.
ConsistentEye22152026-01-19 00:37
Will you watch attack on titan if I watch code geass? I believe attack on titan is the greatest anime ever. Where did you drop it?
H_DANILO2026-01-19 00:40
Dropped somewhere on season 3, I can't even recall.
The problem was not attack on titan itself, the problem was the past experiences I've had with anime so far, the things that probably blew your mind on Attack on Titan, already had been blew away my mind on other animes, like Gantz to name one
ConsistentEye22152026-01-19 00:41
Trust me, Season 3 is just the tip of the iceberg; crazy things happen in Season 4.
H_DANILO2026-01-19 00:47
I believe you!
But at this point I had already pushed myself into 2 seasons(I like only halfway through season 1, then pushed myself into second 2 and then gave up on season 3). I've spoken to some friends about things that happens and what not at this point already hehe
It is an incredible anime, no doubts.
I wanna try it again after every single memory of it has flushed away(perhaps in the next 3 years or so?)
Part of the problem was that I was also watching on the release schedule, some animes are best to be enjoyed non-stop
ConsistentEye22152026-01-19 00:50
lmao, it makes sense if you were watching it on the release schedule. But trust me, its the only anime besides Naruto that has given me that much emotional depth. It has no fan service and its mature and has its funny moments at the same time. The ending leaves you questioning who the real villain is, and you will genuinely feel something deep inside you feel empty once you finish it. I highly reccomend watching it.
H_DANILO2026-01-19 00:51
Have you watched HxH already?
ConsistentEye22152026-01-19 00:52
Yeah, ive seen it and enjoyed it. Also attack on Titan has some of the best anime music I've heard.
PPGN_DM_Exia2026-01-19 06:49
As a Gundam fan, I agree but to me it felt like a *bad* Gundam series, with an annoyingly righteous protagonist and some poorly executed plot twists for shock value.
Mistdwellerr2026-01-19 00:37
I love Code Geass, but if you got to EP 11 and aren't enjoying it yet, I don't think most that happens from there onwards will change your mind
There are some really great twists and turns in the next few episodes, but if you're not having fun, you didn't connect with the characters or the plot itself isn't doing much, I don't think they will hit you the way it hit those who are enjoying the experience
But if you're willing to push through a few more, some neat stuff will start to happen in the near future
gcplz2026-01-19 00:40
It’s definitely not like aot not even close
lztsrts2026-01-19 00:49
>Does it get better?
I kinda think it got worse as it went on actually 😅
It's probably the most highly rated anime that i watched all the way through and then just felt nothing when it ended. Moved on to the next one on my watchlist and that was it.
You gave it a fair shot.
Mynameis2cool4u2026-01-19 01:34
I dropped it on the first episode initially because I didn’t enjoy it. I came back to it later, still bored and up until episode 13 I realized that this show might be great. I continued and now it’s in my top 5
