How do I explain fanservice to someone that doesn’t know about it?
My friend, i’ve only ever introduced her to series with little to no fanservice or if there is fanservice, its naked guys. She doesn’t really grasp how bad anime is/can get. Do i just put on an episode of highschool dxd or Rosario + vampire and hope for the best? Is there a better series i can use to introduce her to it? Dandadan is a possibility too

You could just say Megan Fox in Transformers, male actors needs to be shirtless in MCU debut or Baywatch.
It isn't as common as you might think. It just gets more attraction.
matthew mcconaughey taking his shirt off to the point it became a running gag
Dragon Ball was pretty good in that genre... frequently showing off panties...This could be an example to show her, but anyway, if she doesn't understand now, she'll eventually see it for herself.
It has an excellent story along with good fan service.
Why do u want to introduce that much fan service to her 😼
She'll get its after eating tasty food! 😋
There is nothing there besides the fanservice. But it isn't as awkward as watching softcore porn.
'Hey, there's a series called 'My Dress up Darling' that's generally pretty good and overall pretty sweet, but it does include some fairly suggestive scenes of one of the main charachters, is that something you wouldn't mind watching?'
Technically you could just throw on Highschool DXD but simulated blowjobs are more or less knocking on the door labelled 'hentai' so not sure it's really an introductory 'fan-service' show.
The fact you charachterise fanservice as 'bad' suggests that maybe jumping into the far side of fan service isn;t really the best strategy here.
This is also wholly dependant on the dynamic between you two as well. Are you trying to rizz them, or are you besties, or work friends?
Why is showing her fan service a goal anyway?
I guess the question is, what wrong with introducing her to fanservice? She’s an adult, she’s seen everything the average adult has when it comes to sex stuff. She hasn’t said she doesn’t want to see it
Most modern anime is pretty tame when it comes to fan service outside of shows that are fairly up front about including the content.
'Hey want to see a show about a woman who can draw the power out of this dude to fight weird creatures, but afterwards her powers compel her to fulfil one of his fantasies?'
See what she says, and watch it if she is interested, or skip it if she doesn't like the sound of it. You now know that Chained Solider is a line for fan service recs.
Maybe Dandadan is a good test. Personally, the 'fanservice' surrounding Momo is, in my eyes, overtly critical of the way modern Japan sexualises teenage girls. It's not perfect, but it's at least critical of the current societal norms.
Alternately, Gachiakuta is currently one of the best at dealing with 'fanservice' themes where there are attractive characters, but there is no 'leering' or 'creepy' framings. Even the arc that does go into some SA themes does a great job in how it depicts it with respect, and disgust, rather then using it to excite people, like in something like Goblin Slayer.
>She has family that are 8-10 and she’s really not grasping what anime can be like
What is she not grasping?
Does she need to see a scene of 2 werewolf spitroasting a magical girl to realize there are things you shouldn't show to someone 8-10?
Does she lack the concept of imagination, to conceive the fact that some things in anime are probably not for kids 8-10?
We kind of take our ability to conceptualise things for granted. Like when you describe to an old person how to use a phone and they still don’t get it
If she’s not the kind of person interested in sexual themes then don’t give her lewd anime to watch lol.
Also i never said she wasn’t interested. She’s an adult. The only reason I haven’t shown her fanservice yet is because i don’t want to skew her view on anime that they’re all filled with smut. Just like how people turn their nose up at anime because of this and that (comes from a lack of understanding).
If a show has something gratuitous in it then just tell her: as an adult she will tell you whether she is comfortable about it or not. Some people are also not comfortable watching something graphic in the presence of others, even if they are not actually prudish.
EX: a show where the women are always finding reasons to be in bikinis or skin tight outfits, or when a boy and girl fall over at the same time but one of them is on top and his hand is touching her boob."
I don't think Japanese fanservice can be put into explanation very well unless you experienced it. If you have a show in mind that you want to recommend her, just do it. I wouldn't start with DxD, Shinmai Testament or any other Battle Harem or suchminded Isekai and the like through. Maybe start with e.g. ReZero or NGE.
Dandadan would also be a good choice, probably, just because its a romance series and
- You know, these scenes in Game of thrones in which you see titties?
- Yes?
- Some people draw/animate scenes like that too
