Broadast 2026
>University student Kurumi Fukuga has finally fulfilled her long-held desire of starting foreign exchange (FX) trading, motivated by recouping the 20 million yen her late mother lost in trading.
>"I'll easily make it back," she thought, but the world she enters can become heaven or hell in an instant. Unrealized losses, loss-cutting, unstoppable fluctuations… but she still wants to buy, sell and make money!
>With fellow FX addicts Mochiko, Mebuki and Yasuko along for the ride, the market heats up! Joy, despair, joy, despair — this is an endearing, yet slightly risky money game. Can Kurumi and her friends survive this turbulent world?
Yuki Ogawa (Mieruko-chan) directs the FX Fighter KURUMICHAN anime at studio Passione, with series composition and scripts by Kenta Ihara (Saga of Tanya the Evil), character designs by Kazuyuki Ueda (LOVE FLOPS) and music by Takuro Iga (【OSHI NO KO】). ([Crunchyroll](https://www.crunchyroll.com/news/latest/2026/1/19/fx-fighter-kurumichan-anime-adaptation-announced-2026-release-teaser-trailer-visual?srsltid=AfmBOoq_5tCyXWJYGXsgR-4bTGTFnUJ1KA_RAz1-_z35JYtYrrkvEcAN))
So is it basically a gambling anime in a way then?
SSjjlex2026-01-19 10:46
yes and no. It does play around with things like global market reports and government statements, but they do acknowledge that high leverage trading fx trading is basically gambling.
kaydenwolf_lynx2026-01-19 10:49
I don't actually have a single idea what fx trading even means what is an fx what does trading mean in this context.
syknetz2026-01-19 10:55
FX is shorthand for Foreign Exchange, mostly known as Forex. So basically, financial trading based on the currencies valuation difference, hoping that you'll buy 10 Y with 1 X, and hoping that the exchange rate variation means that your 10 Y will be worth 1.5X instead at some point.
jhearn162026-01-19 10:55
Fx trading is foreign exchange trading, basically buying/selling one currency for another and trying to make a profit from those currency price movements.
kaydenwolf_lynx2026-01-19 11:38
I think I somewhat understand it's not something ive heard of before so I was very confused
frik10002026-01-19 11:42
I don't know if it's necessarily the case worldwide, but Forex had a big boom in popularity in my country during the pandemic, since everyone was stuck at home anyway and was trying to find ways to make money.
I gave it a shot myself and found it just way too stressful. Ended up losing quite a bit on it too in the end, so really this anime just feels like PTSD to me.
kaydenwolf_lynx2026-01-19 11:57
Well I mean I was a younger teen during the pandemic trying to just get through high school so it's not like I'd of been a target demographic for that type of thing
alotmorealots2026-01-19 12:07
The "amateur day traders trying to make money at home" aspect is the most relevant as far as the anime is concerned, but in terms of real life, the foreign exchange market is the biggest market in the world and is an absolutely critical part of the global economy.
Not only do businesses need to convert money to other currencies so that they can trade with other countries, but it also plays a huge role in the entire financial system, from the careful, slow international movement of pension fund to huge speculative trades.
On a personal level, whenever you buy anything from overseas, or anything that has components made overseas, FX trading was involved behind the scenes.
The massive volume of FX movements on a daily basis mean it's possible for amateur traders to make and lose money by trying to ride the movements of the major players, and it generally happens on a more immediate time scale than things like the share market.
alotmorealots2026-01-19 12:01
Sounds like it will be very relatable in the most literal sense!
Fangzzz2026-01-19 13:30
Don't get into this sort of thing, BTW. If it isn't obvious, the whole thing, to first approximation, is a closed system (apart from commissions), so the only way someone is making money is by other people losing money. In general large institutional investors with access to resources and information others don't have make the money, and individual investors lose the money. People who think they are smart and have a system for surefire profits are the ones who get cleaned out. Survivorship bias from the few lucky winners (people who lose feel ashamed and don't talk about it) serve to draw in fresh meat.
SSjjlex2026-01-19 10:59
adding onto the other replies, high leverage trading is basically a way to multiply your gains/losses without needing to increase your total investment volume. Incredibly risky on high levls since the most minor fluctuations can have significant impacts.
derega162026-01-19 11:57
Also is basically loaning money to trade.
From what I have seen, some of those went so high that it's probably safer to play a literal russian roulette with 5 bullets as many cases the results of losing is the same
adds-nothing2026-01-19 11:06
> University student Kurumi Fukuga has finally fulfilled her long-held desire of starting foreign exchange (FX) trading, motivated by recouping the 20 million yen her late mother lost in trading
Says it right there in the synopsis bruh
derega162026-01-19 11:51
TBF everything high leverage is a gambling
Frikgeek2026-01-19 18:09
+EV is always +EV. All leverage does is increase variance(and therefore risk of ruin with the same bankroll). If you have a large enough bankroll in liquid capital reserves then you can do high leverage and still make gains on average(as long as your strategy is +EV).
But there's basically no level of wealth where full porting on short term OTM options is a good play.
Retsam192026-01-19 20:24
> +EV is always +EV
The hard part is, in the real world, knowing what's actually +EV and where you're actually missing a part of the picture. There's an anecdote from a reader in the Money Stuff column:
> [Coin flipping] was a Susquehanna interview question 25 years ago! They made me do the math on 1000 coin flips. EV(heads) (easy), standard deviation (slightly harder), then they offered me a +EV bet on the outcome. I said “let’s go.”
> They said “Wrong. If we’re offering it to you, you shouldn’t take it.”
> I said “We just did the math.”
> They said “We have a guy on the floor of the Amex who can flip 55% heads.”
alotmorealots2026-01-19 10:52
Is [this](https://i.imgur.com/FEoReV9.png) the face of a gambler? Pure skill, nothing else!
CosmicPenguin_OV1032026-01-19 11:18
Depending on how you play in the stock market, yeah.
alotmorealots2026-01-19 10:43
> studio Passione
Oh nice! I know people immediately think Ecchi when they think Passione (or maybe not any more thanks to Spice & Wolf?) but aside from their excellence in that department, their productions are consistently very polished and their shows are full of visual impact.
Also *Ishura* S1 and S2, *Tawawa on Monday* S1 and S2, *Interspecies Reviewers*, *Miru Tights* and *FLCL Progressive*, so the man certainly has some good ~~chest and leg capabilties~~ range!
Probably more relevant than the Tanya credit is that they did series comp for Isekai Ojisan.
> Teaser PV:
Story telling through candlestick charts, now that's what I like to see!
Also, superb faces lol

Edit: if you do trade, there's a fun detail on the official site on the right hand side where there'd normally be a scrollbar! https://fxkurumi-info.com/

>character designs by Kazuyuki Ueda (LOVE FLOPS)
Love Flops was a masterpiece, I'm intrigued
zenoob2026-01-19 12:24
I don't feel good about that kind of anime tbh. I'd rather have only trash isekai forever in my life.
derega162026-01-19 12:31
>University student Kurumi Fukuga has finally fulfilled her long-held desire of starting foreign exchange (FX) trading, motivated by recouping the 20 million yen her late mother lost in trading.
>"I'll easily make it back,"
Step aside villainess anime, THIS is the REAL death flag
HugeRichard112026-01-19 12:47
This feels like it will hit too real, it won’t even be fun or funny then as it will remind me of the time things were bad and I saw a lot of red.
Really interesting different kind of show though
alotmorealots2026-01-19 12:51
> it will remind me of the time things were bad and I saw a lot of red.
Could be cathartic too, depending on how it pans out? Sometimes seeing others make greater losses can release a bit of the old hurt. Guess it depends how close to your situation the story runs!
derega162026-01-19 14:06
Probably a lot of green here, for some reason east asian market red=up green=down opposite to the rest of the world
SomeBrokenRice2026-01-19 15:49
I believe it is due to red being associated with luck and prosperity in Sino culture sphere and while Japan has been westernized for a long period such association still remains somehow.

r/wallstreetbets the anime
Ordinal43NotFound2026-01-19 10:46
Wait, I thought you were meme-ing about wsb's reactions when they either made bank or losing money, but this is an actual anime about forex trading what the fuuuuckk.
They really have an anime for everything.
Illya___2026-01-19 11:00
Technically not the first one, there is one already, sort of
alotmorealots2026-01-19 11:03
What's the other anime that's (sort of) about FX trading?
Ahh, that seems like it has supernatural elements and abstracts things away from the actual markets quite a bit? I do have it in my Plan to Watch though!
Zelandias2026-01-19 15:18
Imagine Bleach if everyone's powers were based on economic terms and philosophy (Like Poison Pill, Scorched Earth, Overheated Economy) and the size and strength of your magic sword was directly proportional to your personal capital. It's quite a fun watch, though its worth having a wiki tab open on the size to look up the less common terms that come up because everything is layers deep in metaphor.
SSjjlex2026-01-19 11:12
never heard of it but god damn that name goes hard
Dialgak772026-01-19 13:07
So does the opening.
derega162026-01-19 11:15
C is more economic/financial theory in general than forex. The whole premise is based around the concept of money as a store of work and store of time.
AlexHallon2026-01-19 11:23
to be fair all i remember from that one was the action
derega162026-01-19 11:35
A lot of those are under heavy metaphors that require one to know the theory first to get. Like MSYU is a representation of generational wealth.
Mr_K_Boom2026-01-19 12:49
Loved that anime, yet the most vivid memory of that anime is that they deleted my country off the face of the earth.
Decades Later I found out it was supposed to be references to the Asian financial crisis of the 1997

Great show but had no budget
Cruxion2026-01-19 17:29
It's not an anime but the author of *Spice and Wolf* has a visual novel trilogy about stock trading on the moon. *[World End Economica](https://store.steampowered.com/app/269250/WORLD_END_ECONOMiCA_episode01/)* which might interest some people.

Finally the anime that makes r/wallstreetbets look like Berkshire Hathaway.
Sorry_Swimming_89632026-01-19 13:34
To add into context, it’s always known that the author is a crypto trader, the MC is a fx trader, and joked that the scanlation team are probably futures trader and all people mentioned above raced to go bankrupt
KotetsuNoTori2026-01-19 20:05
In the Chinese manga community, there's a joke that goes: "It's a story about a gambler, written by another gambler, translated by another gambler, and read by a bunch of other gamblers. It's hard to tell which of them would be the first to commit suicide (because of bankruptcy)."
Exploreptile2026-01-20 00:36
Well, I'm sold (I am terrible at personal investments)
Nickthenuker2026-01-20 05:10
Maybe you shouldn't have sold
DJCzerny2026-01-19 21:33
wsb doesn't really touch FX nor do most retail traders, for good reason. It's the domain of large multinationals hedging their business and trying to nip at the margins for profit without knowing what you're doing is suicide.
Conquestenjoyer2026-01-19 21:38
She’s trying to recover 10 thousand dollars mfrs in r/wallstreetbets are literally losing millions from their grandparent’s inheritance in seconds [keep in mind he was saying his life was ruined when he still literally still had 1 million in value so he let himself lose all of it instead of taking the loss](https://www.reddit.com/r/wallstreetbets/s/1FbilRy4oW) I doubt it gets crazier than this
NoGround2026-01-20 03:34
I knew the exact thing you were referring to when I read this. I watched this shit live it was jaw dropping.

Tolike852026-01-19 18:41
Ch. 34. [Manga]>!The cut off line, to be exact. I expected it to crash really fucking hard like in ch 33. What I didn't expect was it didn't end there and the crash being so catastrophic it broke the system and restarted in a much, much lower position in the next chapter with no prior hint or foreshadowing whatsoever. I didn't even know it's possible for the line to get cut off. That scared me like no other manga I read last year (or even the last couple years) did!<
EnthusiasmOnly222026-01-19 18:53
[Manga] >!Figured it would be that or her reaction!<

Adaptation speed may be a bit too quick to reach it, but I desperately hope they adapt until the \[manga\] >!EUR-CHF 2015!< arc because that's where the true emotional payoff of the whole series is.
But going by regular adaptation speeds, maybe it'll cut just before that arc?
Tolike852026-01-19 11:26
That arc was *brutal*. I thought it couldn't top the brutality in the previous arc. Boy was I wrong
SSjjlex2026-01-19 11:33
indeed. But what I love about it was the message that \[manga\] >!even after bankruptcy, you shouldn't be afraid to admit defeat and contact your family for support. Somehow the most wholesome thing I've ever seen right after some of the most gut wrenching reactions I've read!<
frozen_desserts_012026-01-19 14:36
I like the way [manga]>!the author casually shows someone preparing for suicide like playing the credit after the bad ending then the tension rushing in once Mochiko came. In a way, that night brought the two a bit closer.!<
Btw the dad is goated
Luxray2412026-01-19 11:59

SSjjlex2026-01-19 12:11
Its at an awkward position where it feels like too much for 1 cour but also too little for 2 cours, so im not sure.
That or im still not good at my chapter->episode analyses so hopefully they can do a better job than I
eoz2026-01-19 12:00
I don't do forex trading but I did have to move my money from Switzerland to the UK around 2011. Instead of just taking the hit from the banks I thought I'd get clever and looked at trading platforms to make the exchange at a better rate. It was at that moment that the Swiss government pegged to the Euro. I'd have been way better off with the bank rate, RIP
alotmorealots2026-01-19 12:10
That means you witnessed one of the most monumental events in the history of FX trading first hand!
eoz2026-01-19 12:35
That's little comfort, it cost me several grand!
kwokinator2026-01-19 14:28
Just means you'll get extra feels when watching this anime.
Instead of methos acting you're just method watching.
Frikgeek2026-01-19 18:15
Now imagine if instead of doing this to purchase things you were buying it with 50-100x leverage. You could've lost millions from a few thousand invested.
And that was the small one, the 2015 crash absolutely ruined people and financial institutions.
EnthusiasmOnly222026-01-19 13:46
If we don’t, then what’s the point, that’s for me at least literally the payoff of the series so far, it’s just so expertly done
Dependent_Present_622026-01-19 11:02
FX IS EASY!!!
CosmicPenguin_OV1032026-01-19 11:05
Anime-Manga fans from my hometown, which has one of the largest stock and other financial trade markets of the world, have already been using the manga for a whole stack of memes for years.
As someone who is so scared of the turbulent market in recent years to the point that I simply dump a large portion of my savings onto short-term US government bonds (as "safe" as most investments are), this is gonna be extremely peak LMAO.
*EDIT:* Aina Suzuki (a.k.a. very rich girl Mari Ohara from Love Live Sunshine) as Kurumi-chan??? That's a double leverage (*cough*) for the anime muhahahahahahaha!!!

Puffy_The_Puff2026-01-19 11:24
It's set in the near past so no Trump.
But it does use accurate charts so if you know your history you can tell in real time how abysmal some of the trades she makes will be.
alotmorealots2026-01-19 11:33
> But it does use accurate charts so if you know your history you can tell in real time how abysmal some of the trades she makes will be.
This series just keeps sounding better and better lol
Won't spoil myself by pulling up historic data though :P
Also I shall start making shrine offerings that Kurumi or her mother weren't trading when the SNB depegged... actually that might fit with the synopsis, depending on when her mother made those losses lol
alotmorealots2026-01-19 11:25
Weirdly enough, if she sticks to USD:YEN and YEN based trades the Trump effect has been curiously limited.
For example, with the threat of the tariff war between US and EUR that emerged over the weekend, we saw a gap down on market open today [chart shows USD to JPY, 1 "bar" (candle) = 1 minute of the day's trading]:
https://i.imgur.com/nMIauNU.png
followed a decent sized sell off of the USD (red is USD going down here, but people customize their colors) :
https://i.imgur.com/aAxHIM2.png
However that's just the 1 minute chart, and by end of the Asian session, it's largely recovered to where it was before and is barely a blip on the daily chart (i.e the very last candle is today and the fact it has a very narrow green body means the current price/close is very close to the open of the day's trading).
https://i.imgur.com/dpbEJCy.png
That said, if you're still at Kurumi's stage of learning the markets, then that sort of thing can devastate you (don't hold over the weekend in conditions like this!) even if the movements aren't out of the ordinary.

Google says that current 20 million yen is about $126,550.24 (USA). That amount of money could a person or family for a short or long time, depending on how or what they use it for. For example, having that much in a company stock. Knowing when or if one should sell that amount is subjective.

I gave it a shot myself and found it just way too stressful. Ended up losing quite a bit on it too in the end, so really this anime just feels like PTSD to me.
From what I have seen, some of those went so high that it's probably safer to play a literal russian roulette with 5 bullets as many cases the results of losing is the same
Says it right there in the synopsis bruh
But there's basically no level of wealth where full porting on short term OTM options is a good play.

Hey, it's Ivy! From field mice math to currency conversions!
Also, CFD leverage is a form of *magikku baggu*.... kinda.

Love Flops was a masterpiece, I'm intrigued
>University student Kurumi Fukuga has finally fulfilled her long-held desire of starting foreign exchange (FX) trading, motivated by recouping the 20 million yen her late mother lost in trading.
>"I'll easily make it back,"
Step aside villainess anime, THIS is the REAL death flag
Really interesting different kind of show though
Could be cathartic too, depending on how it pans out? Sometimes seeing others make greater losses can release a bit of the old hurt. Guess it depends how close to your situation the story runs!

Welcome back Jashin-Chan
Cute Girls Do Currency Trading
They really have an anime for everything.

Ahh, that seems like it has supernatural elements and abstracts things away from the actual markets quite a bit? I do have it in my Plan to Watch though!
Decades Later I found out it was supposed to be references to the Asian financial crisis of the 1997
*looks at comment*
"what the fuck?"
But going by regular adaptation speeds, maybe it'll cut just before that arc?
Btw the dad is goated
That or im still not good at my chapter->episode analyses so hopefully they can do a better job than I
Instead of methos acting you're just method watching.
And that was the small one, the 2015 crash absolutely ruined people and financial institutions.

That said, if you're still at Kurumi's stage of learning the markets, then that sort of thing can devastate you (don't hold over the weekend in conditions like this!) even if the movements aren't out of the ordinary.
Me: soooo... when are we getting World End Economica anime? Pretty please?
LET THE ECONOMICS WARFARE COMMENCE!
(They’ll really make a cute anime girl do anything won’t they?)
[spoiler] >!the darkest thing would probably be related to Swiss Franc unpeg in 2015!<
Someone's gonna watch this show and trigger an economic crisis.
>studio Passione
>series composition and scripts by Kenta Ihara (Saga of Tanya the Evil)
Sorry Frieren, but new AOTY just dropped
