The Ehrenfest legal team would like to inform you the the Pandabus is the original creation of Rozemyne and any resemblance to other modes of transport is purely coincidental.

You hear that Studio Ghibli?

So excited for this!!

Ascendance of a Bookworm switched its production to WIT STUDIO, the studio behind Attack on Titan Season 1-3, starting with Season 4, and its broadcast time moved from the late-night 25:00 (wut??) slot to a 17:00 early-evening slot on a major TV network. This is quite remarkable. Broadcasting in this early-evening time slot is rare for anime, and it can be seen as a major leap forward for the franchise.
Ebo872026-01-19 12:27
17:30, it's the pre-Detective Conan TV spot on Nippon TV (NTV), one of the best TV spots of the week for an anime. Previously My Hero Academia aired in this spot for almost 9 years.
Time_Fracture2026-01-19 14:49
I was about to say "oh it's Sunday?" since Kaya-chan Isn't Scary is airing on that timeslot this season, but April 4 is a Saturday.
So it will take over Blue Miburo Season 2's current timeslot (and besides MHA, it was Yaiba's timeslot last year too).
Ebo872026-01-19 14:58
Yes, actually this and Yaiba are part of the same deal between YTV and Wit. Both are booked for 2 seasons, 2 cours each (so 4 cours per anime, 8 cours in total, or 96+ episodes). Yaiba returns to this time slot in 2027 and then Bookworm gets back in 2028, so they are rotating.
namewithak2026-01-19 13:38
I got my hopes up too high when they switched to WIT. Tbh, this animation doesn't look much better than the previous studio's and the character designs look oddly more generic (doesn't look any closer to the LN's official art than the previous version either). The only improvement is that it seems to be a little more fluid.
Mutant_Fool2026-01-19 14:05
I think you really need to take a look at the previous seasons art because you have definitly forgotten how mediocre it was. This artstyle is also closer to the LN art. I don't think it's generic though so I don't know what you mean.
dweakz2026-01-19 14:58
always heard this was a good one but never got around to it. never really seen this show hit top 10 in the top weekly anime rankings. with season 4 being produced by WIT, imma just have to skip 1-3 and just watch recap vids to catch up lol
Turbulent-Region33232026-01-19 17:51
>never really seen this show hit top 10 in the top weekly anime rankings.
U must be new here. It has always been in the r/anime top 10 weekly ranking when season 3 aired in spring 2022.
abandoned_idol2026-01-19 17:57
Seasons 1, 2, and 3 are arguably recaps of the Light Novel.
If you watch a recap of a recap, you'll probably understand very little in what will be shown in season 4.
That said, feel free to watch recaps.
As for the writing, yes it is amazing. Mainly because secondary characters have agendas/agency of their own, and that the protagonist faces obstacles that she is unable to immediately overcome.
I found it engrossing, but painfully slow at first.
FajarKalawa2026-01-20 11:54
It's ok maybe I get hate from our fandom but you could skip it. The production committee seems to do rebranding and creating a new season with intentions that anyone could start watching it from season 4 (similiar with Jojo part 3 except the MC stay the same)
Maybe watch the end of part 2 / season 3 to give additional context. Season 4 felt like her second time isekai'd because the norm and setting is so much different.

25:00 or times past 24:00 are used in Japan quite often. I saw restaurants list their opening hours from like 12:00-25:00 and it kinda makes sense. Open from say, Tuesday noon til 1 am.
feb9142026-01-19 16:44
I saw this when I went to Japan and it's actually very inspiring to avoid confusion whether something count as same day or not. Like metro day pass
Days2go2026-01-19 12:28
My favorite light novel, and the animation has jumped so much this season!
Ellmagronn2026-01-19 12:53
The only thing I didn't like was the face. All the characters have the same big, smooth, and clean face; the only things that are changed are the eyes, hair, and eyebrows. There could be small imperfections on their faces.
The rest is amazing; I still can't believe that this anime got such a big upgrade in its animation.
magicalideal2026-01-19 13:12
Overall it's a an upgrade for all the relevant parts like art, animation, music and presentation compared to the previous season.
It's really rare to have later seasons like Season 4 receiving better treatment than the previous seasons. In fact, I don't think I recall any anime to receive this kind of treatment. It is usually Season 1 having the best adaptation and the quality falls off as more seasons are being adapted.
Has the anime committee finally realized how big of a gem Bookworm can be considering how long it still can run with all the contents left.
Nachtwandler_FS2026-01-19 13:58
Khm.. khmm... Kingdom. It was made by the same studio, though.
Recently Chained Soldier.
abandoned_idol2026-01-19 17:21
Another example would be "World Trigger".
"Season 1" was actually a cheap, continuous, weekly adaptation that was retroactively labelled.
Seasons 2 and 3 were released much later and had much better action animation.
But Bookworm is one of the more extreme examples (3 cheap adaptations before the expensive adaptation).

> Has the anime committee finally realized how big of a gem Bookworm can be considering how long it still can run with all the contents left.
It is because the books, rather than falling off as the series goes on actually sold more and more copies due to word of mouth. Was the case at least for the English release but I believe for the original Japanese one as well.
plecko952026-01-19 13:37
Animated Lessy is real!!!
1000-MAT2026-01-19 14:25
But beyond the visual improvements, I'm hoping for an improvement in direction with this staff.
gst41582026-01-19 14:39
IT LOOKS SO GOOD! Wow I just can't wait for my favorite LN to continue its adaption. The animation and character designs all seem to have gotten an upgrade and I really *really* hope it continues after this. Only a few months away! Praise be to the gods!
abandoned_idol2026-01-19 17:24
"Oh my god! Movable printed type. We must keep this from the serfs, lest they gain literacy and threaten the landed gentry."
"What you got dere my lord?"
"Nothing! Back to your turnips!"
I am so hyped for movable printed type, season 4.

I recommend it if you like fantasy world building and the opposite of isekai slop!!!
