You never have to change your underwear. It's clean all the time.

How the turns have tabled on Wirble
snowwhitecat04aug2026-01-19 14:00
hold on, is this cannon? like Methode straight out hugging Frieren and it does not work on her, and it goes against the narrative that only mages who are very specialized in this kind of magic can be effective against Frieren
kkrko2026-01-19 15:50
I mean, given the Frieren asks that he cast that on her, Frieren probably lowered any magic defenses she might've put up.
And even if she didn't, I think Wirbel counts as someone who specializes in binding magic given that his spell works on the supersonic bird. He and Ubel were noticeably absent when they were testing out their binding magic on Frieren. That might be the author deliberately writing them out so that they didn't have an easy solution against the Frieren clone.
That's not to say the Frieren can't break out of it given enough time to analyze it, of course.

I don't believe that Frieren couldn't get out of it fairly quick. I find the claim that she can't use her mana at all bit dubious. You'd think that as a matter of having a ton more mana she could overpower it.
Maybe rather if there's no danger she wouldn't stop suppressing her mana just to try.

I thought that was mind magic, while this is more restraining magic
like I thought it was more akin to magical rope or magical handcuffs than mind magic where Methode tried to confuse / influence her mind?
hence the whole have to keep them in view completely dealie
Sure, brainwashing someone to stop them with a stopwatch won't work but if you used rope on someone to bind them they wont come closer either right.

They tried both restraining magic (the blue glowy spell) and hypnosis magic.
theholylancer2026-01-20 02:32
i again kind of see it as different kinds of restraining magic at the least
since the ones that wibrel uses have lines on them, akin again to rope, while the one that method uses seems to be again different rather than what seems to be a physical rope binding their target down it seems maybe more related to mind magic (IE you can't move or feel your limbs) type of deal
but at this point, it can just be a fun little thing

This is just a cute gag short, not written by the mangaka. So no, not canon, just a fun little bonus anime.

These shorts are not canon, but they often reflect canon. Many of the spells are referenced in the actual anime.

Hah just saw that this is technically episode 19, somewhere along the way they forgot to number one of them
Kemaiku2026-01-19 19:56
Technically one was a sequel to another I think so it might not have been numbered.

Btw, BennoSubs translates those for anyone's looking.
