Anyone else boycotting the Chainsaw Man Reze movie?
I still haven't and will never watch the new CSM movie
They treated Nakayama like shit, apparently animators disliked working with him and tossed him away due to the poor reception despite his masterpiece of an adaptation
The movie's style is also less accurate of an interpretation of the manga style and Fujimoto's love for cinema. I don't want to support it at all

edit: i didnt said anything about movie. why downvotes? everyone here doesn't know how to read/lacks reading comprehension?
The way I read it is you either mean they did a good job with s1 but no the movie or they did as good of a job as s1 which is not good.
Also op in their way of trying to put down the movie accidentally proves why s1 was a clusterfuck of a production.
> apparently animators disliked working with him
would be an entirely legitimate reason to axe staff.
With Nakayama he made the staff restricted with his vision, restricted voice actors to do what he wanted it to do (causing the voice actor of Denji who's new to the industry to be frustrated) and puts out random interviews that do nothing but make it worse for the IP. I'll still say his vision would have been perfect for any anime original but for Chainsaw Man it doesn't do justice to the manga.
I am a huge fan of Chainsaw Man and have been following it since 2019, when the anime aired and the reception it got from JP fans hurt me a lot with people saying it'll never recover. But the Reze movie was a major turnaround causing the Chainsaw Man to revive, it led the drowning sales to be lifted again and became MAPPA's most profitable anime. For this I am extremely happy that Yoshihara took over at least we'll get a new season of Chainsaw Man every 2 years or so.
The absolute heartbreak I experienced when S1 was airing, man... Hell, my heartbreak started from the leaks at NYCC saying Denji was fully CGI. It was when I realized something was truly wrong. I remember the sheer meltdown on twitter was craaaazy.
Also remember that poor Fujimoto had to drop his little sister RP on twitter to commentate on the anime week-to-week just to quell JP fans anger.
It was absolutely miserable and I do not want to be in that situation again. So I'm soooo glad Reze movie turned it around.
Chainsaw man as a series is not constrained by a particular tone. It can be batshit insane and goofy and next moment somber which the movie understood perfectly. But you do you and don't continue watching since the further adaptation will follow the same approach which in my eyes is absolutely perfect.
We're all just here sharing our opinions and discussing, it ain't that serious little bro. Take it easy.
What we know for sure happened is that a very toxic, very vocal minority of manga fans aggressively harassed the guy to the point he quit having a public presence altogether just to make it stop. Whether it's Mappa leadership forcing him to leave or him quitting because he doesn't want to deal with a repeat of that we'll likely never know, but he seems to be doing well now.
The drama around the director change sucks, but I'm a fan of Nakayama and Yoshihara's approaches to their respective parts of CSM. Both are pretty cool in their own right.
That said, you're kinda 3 months late to this gig. It came out in theaters in October and already made tons of money, and has since released on streaming in December so *even if* you were able to get others onboard with you there would be literally no impact...
