Anime post credit scenes
I was watching Shangri-la frontier and they have post credit scenes. How common are these scenes in anime? The streaming services normally ask if you want to cut the credits implying that there isn't a post credit scene. Is it usually just a preview of the next episode?

I'd say the chance of extra scenes normally increases as you get closer to the end of a season, or at least climatic moments in the series, but some shows will have entire vignettes or even a decent few minutes of more episode after the credits.
In the past, majority of the end was a preview of the next episode. However, as the streaming era grew, the majority of next episode preview shifted to their website or their YouTube channel only.
Jujutsu Kaisen still does a preview though, same with Frieren (except just words).
Sometimes they can be story, sometimes they are the cast joking in character about the events of the episode you just watched, then saying the name of what is to come.
Some add to the plot. Some are teasers. Some are jokes among the characters. Some are just a little added scenes for funsies lol. There is even some that will educate you about things in the episode.
And if you still use crunchyroll, normally you can still skip the credit scene and it will still play the extra end scene.

Generally you have to decide on a per-anime basis what you wanna watch and what you don't want to. SLF (Shangri-La Frontier) in particular has short teaser scenes (some of which play again at the start of the next episode), some longform teasers and also the Mini anime (you can tell quite easily when this starts by when it says "Shanfro Theater Mini") which shows extra scenes that don't have any bearing on the story but are there if you wanna watch them. Sometimes one episode will have multiple of these. I wouldn't say any are **required watching** but I personally always watched the teasers to make sure I didn't miss anything.
A different example I'd give is My Hero Academia, which has some post-credits scenes that are clearly part of the main anime and ARE required watching (and you will miss them if you skip to the next episode!). It also has short previews of the next episode at the very end of every episode; these are different from the SLF short **teasers** in that they usually show scenes from the next episode in general rather than just one scene from the start of the next episode. I personally always skipped these because I consider them to be spoilers.
