Yes, I didn't expect Cecilia to not appear, although thanks to Yoki's imagination we could see her as [a housewife](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/e149a0af6407.png) and [office worker](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/b7c16aa2e20b.png) (they're both great, although [Cecilia as a housewife](https://cdn.imgchest.com/files/e149a0af6407.png) was definitely my favorite).

Could Yoki's new bro Raven also be his rival in love!? Though it seems like Raven got shot down flat too...except the girl he was interested in wasn't Cecilia but HAPPINESS, the girl who lugged his body back from the Demon King's place.

Happiness said a relationship with Raven is "impossible," but it didn't seem to be a matter of the feelings not being mutual on her part. Even though she had a traumatic point in her life where humans were trying to hunt her for her harpy feathers and she had to be saved by Duke, she still didn't reject humans as a whole. So it seems like there's something else that's keeping her from accepting Raven's feelings.

(Also, was that panning shot of Happiness' backside in her skimpy harpy form necessary to the plot? Yes. Even though she was basically just wearing panties then)

Time for Yoki to visit his ol' buddy Kareem, and it turns he was "pals" with the vice guildmaster the whole time! Said vice guildmaster being put into the hospital by his wife, of all people, who beat the tar out of him for not only taking so long to buy an anniversary gift that he not only failed to get said gift but also came home too late for dinner. Oh, and did we mention that said wife is SOPHIA!?

Turns out Sophia and Kareem were an A-Rank adventurer couple nown as the "invincible apathetic couple," and while Sophia is liable to dropick Kareem in the hospital if he acts too goofy, she doesn't care if her husband sees up her skirt. Despite how unconventional (and violent) their relationship gets, they truly seem to love and cherish each other as husband and wife.

What good is Japanese memories if you can't imagine Cecilia in housewife mode in an apron or in a business suit with black tights, a skirt, and exposed cleavage?

Time for Yoki to visit his OTHER buddy and help Raven get through his rejection by giving him some advice on Happiness and to not give up on his love, especially when Yoki hasn't! After all, Raven saved her from thugs and she complimented his voice, so there's obviously something meaningful in their meeting! Time for the bros to go accessory shopping for the ladies in their lives!

Of course who should they run into in the shop but none other than Mikana, who is there to tease them about being there but also take responsibility for why Raven is so silent...seems like she laughed the first time she heard his voice and still regrets it.

So the least she can do is hear out their love problems and offer some advice, and in fact she has love problems of her own. Imagine being in love with a guy who deliberately walks in on women changing and in the bath, is enough of a womanizer to make Cecilia angry at him, and who still barely gives you the time of day.

But Mikana knows why Yuga is so cold to her...the Hero Parties' constant defeats by Yoki lead them to kind of take advantage of the local village they were staying at who were under the impression they weren't losers but tactically retreating...and eventually the weight of taking advantage of said villages' dwindling resources and the shame of losing got to Yuga. So to protect his honor, Mikana took advantage of the situation to leave Cecilia behind so they could beat the Demon Lord, even if Yuga still hasn't forgiven her for it. And she can't forgive herself for how she treated Cecilia.

Look at Duke acting like an overprotective big brother for Happiness, but Raven's sincere feelings shine through! Enough to where Happiness accepts his gift and his offer for friendship! At least that's a good place for them to start.

I liked this episode. We had another two couples introduced and we had a bit of actual drama. Because yeah, they kinda sold Cecilia down the river didn't they. I appreciate the author realizing that was fucked up and acknowledging that there's fallout. I'm sure it won't be too heavy because this show mostly wants to be a fluffy romance, but that's okay. Just the fact that we're going here at all and talking about this is kinda better than I expected.

This show also did this in episode 1 when they talked about the political fallout of the death of the demon king. It didn't lead to paradise, it led to a power vacuum with nations jockeying for position and rushing to arrange certain marriages etc.

Again, this show is still 90% fluffy good times. But the fact that these tiny bits of thoughtful writing peek through do a lot to elevate this beyond other shows in these genres that are totally vapid.

Last week there were debates on it the person Raven had feelings for was Sophia or Happiness and I'm glad I got it right. Sophia being married to Kramen was an interesting reveal too and I like how much you can see he loves her lol. I hope he enjoys being nursed by her, it seems like he thinks it was worth the beatings.

Yuuga is really dense when it comes Cecilia, he's presented himself as a playboy who will willingly delay their adventure for women and wonders why she's not interested lol.

Kramen must have been the strategist, while Sophia the hard hitter when both of them were adventurers. I suspect Kramen wanted Sophia to look after him gently, but she would most likely refuse if he asked. So he decided to take a beating and bank on Sophia being soft hearted, forgiving him and giving in. Lol!

A redemption arc for Mikana. In the first episode, I had the impression Mikana sacrificed Cecilia in order to eliminate a love rival. Turns out Mikana does feel guilty and regrets leaving Cecilia behind. However, I still question Mikana's choice in men; Yuuga is still giving me the playboy vibes.

Well, at the same time, can she really separate her bias from that 'pragmatic' decision? There was a clear love triangle in the Hero's party of Mage-> Hero-> Priestess.

By sacrificing the Priestess, the Mage would be "Killing the Hypotenuse" in their love triangle.

Can the Mage truly say, with a clear conscious, that she spoke up SOLELY for the sake of the mission and wasn't secretly happy at this excuse to dispose of her love rival?

Even in this episode, she's clearly salty at the attention the Hero always gives Cecilia, up to and including a marriage offer, while largely taking the Mage for granted.

To be honest, that was not a smart decision. They can't beat one of the generals with all members, what made them think they can defeat his higher up without the healer/ support? I don't remember them having any reason to assume the demon lord was weaker than Youki and even if they did, going without a key role/class is still not smart unless they know how strong the rest of the enemies are with confidence.

I guess we may learn in the future that they did know something more, but honestly either way I don't mind, this is a romance not a battle action.

In a lot of these "Hero" stories, the hero basically has god-anointed powers to stat-debuff the demon king.

So it's perfectly normal to struggle against "demon generals" but ~~one-shot~~ low-diff the demon king.

Not sure if I have missed something, but as far as I know, the classic case/ scenario is the one where the demon lord is the hardest opponent. The debuff, if it exists, usually serves to get the demon lord from "out of reach op" to "beatable with effort" but he is still the strongest enemy.

Not to mention that iirc there were more generals too.

There were some anime/manga that had that trope, the generals were harder than the demon lord. Usually it's via their sword but sometimes it's the hero status.

Hm okay yea, I randomly had the suspicion last episode with an off-hand comment the hero made towards her, but seeing this scene I think this mage girl's thing is gonna be that she's a realistic, unsaintly person who judges, envies, etc., generally someone who is run of the mill and not perfect and saintly like Cecilia and hates that about herself, and I think everyone secretly or maybe even openly knows she's just nothing special/isn't some shining role model.

Actually, seeing her talk about the hero here, maybe you could simplify it as like, she's the tsundere character who's into the male MC but always insults him and can't be honest with her feelings and regrets that because it causes her to lose him to other girls. Except instead of just in terms of romance she's like that about everything. ...is the vibe I'm getting from what she's supposed to be.

Ok there it is, the hero really is miffed with her for that decision/suggestion. Or at least she thinks he is.

My issue is not about what shown, but by the *tone* it's shown.
Taking your example, having a show in wich there is a war is one thing. Another would be a show where a war is seen as something to be taken lightly and the situation the people involved in it seen as a laughing matter.

Most wars shown in anime are described as the horrible thing they are.

Random thoughts:

Ah...we get the conclave of the rejected! surprised we got something like this in the third episode. Mikana, you really are too good for Yuga. You should go see if you can find an Isekai'd power ranger instead. I kind of hope we get more commiseration between these three, and I am guessing Yuki and Mikana will get a more focused episode together at some point.

Also I am glad the Dullahan seems to be more the protective big brother as far as Happiness goes. Was worried they were setting up a love triangle there. Is Happiness hesitant about a relationship though because harpy x human knight or because they were on opposite sides of the war, or some other entirely different question. I kind of want to hear more about Harpies...they sound more like people pushed into demon king service thanks to human persecution than gleefully signing up for team evil like some monsters do.

Birdship is a go, just friendship for now but we'll see if it goes anywhere. From the color of those feathers on the present Raven got I was a little concerned they'd be from Happiness after Yoki plucked her, and I guess we don't quite know just yet since we didn't see her open it.

The first thing I love with this series is the utter avoidance of love triangles/lame harems. I love the fact that Mikana isn't actually a bitch but someone who was stuck doing a hard choice to ensure victory and that she's still beating herself over it.

The characters are well-written so I'm looking forward to seeing how Yuga is going to be developed as a character. I think he's legit just a naïve dumbass with a good heart at his core.

I've learned to take most MAL ratings with a giant grain of salt, some of my favorite anime of all time have ratings in the 6s. It all comes down to personal taste and what you value in an anime and to be frank a lot of people that watch anime have shit taste lmao. I value story and character interactions/development so I really like some shows that have excellent levels of that but are low budget and half the reviews will just be from people who have no media literacy and can't pay attention to anything for more than 5 minutes unless there's constant action and all kinds of eye catching animation who say it's trash when they just have trash taste imo. Video game and anime audience can be especially bad with this. I've been really enjoying this series so far as well. It's not some masterpiece but it's very enjoyable and the characters are very likeable.

This show has dysfunctional relationships aside from the main one. Yuga cheats on Mikana and Kramen is a domestic abuse victim! It explained a lot though since Sophie was able to manhandle Yoki so it made sense she was an A rank adventurer. I also wonder if her temper problems disbanded her team and thats how she ended up a maid/bodyguard.

Also surprising was Raven liking Happiness. I think she just thinks of him as a friend or is more trying to be nice since she doesn't like him but she at least accepted his gift.

I didn't understand though why neither Mikana nor Raven knew that Yoki was one of the demon warriors when they fought him repeatedly. He only had a horn on his head and a different suit, he didn't look drastically different.

I forgot this was an isekai until he mentioned it 😅 I do like that they brought back the plot of Mikana "sacrificing" Cecilia causing tension for the group. Despite the animation quality, the story seems ok so far.
