It is not just the same though watching it at home especially through streaming. One of the few reasons why I watched the Bocchi The Rock movies was because of the theater sound system. Hearing That Band and the other songs with those theater speakers enhanced those scenes and the experience of their music in a movie theater.
HuTaosTwinTails2026-01-20 21:42
Personally I don't like going to theaters. So I get more enjoyment watching it at home.
groovy_tacocat2026-01-21 00:49
I don’t see a theater sound system being a significant improvement in the experience for this series in the way that it obviously would for a show that heavily revolves around music/being in a band
BigBootyBuff2026-01-21 00:58
Yeah or like more action centric movies. I'm not sure how much more I get out of an animated romcom by watching it in theaters vs watching it on my TV at home with still decent sound system.
SoccerForEveryone2026-01-21 01:37
Sound just as animation is so important in how you experience a show/movie. Watching the Kaguya Sama or End Of Evangelion movies brings a different experience when you take in both the sights and sounds of the movie.
gud_fellow2026-01-20 17:11
Why don't they just make it available to stream where they can't get any theatres screening?
Shack6912026-01-20 17:16
Usually licensing, the committee says “it can only be released on streaming/DvD after x date” but a cinema release isn’t covered by such a restriction, so a streaming platform can screen it sooner and make more money as a bonus.
Innocent-Bystander942026-01-20 17:13
Get ready for peak
awesomenessofme12026-01-20 17:19
This is worse than them not giving it a theatrical release at all, tbh. At least then I could just say "Yeah, fair enough. I didn't have high hopes anyway." The nearest of those cities is a four and a half hour drive, and I don't love the series *that* much. At least it will stream eventually.
Edit: LMAO saying the exact same thing with a miniscule difference in negativity is worth -15 instead of +20. Never change, reddit.
-Work_Account-2026-01-20 17:40
"This doesn't benefit me directly so why should anyone else have an opportunity" is certainly an interesting take.
awesomenessofme12026-01-20 17:45
We're not allowed to make casual online comments without making sure to include every possible qualification and clarification in case people misunderstand now, I guess.
-Work_Account-2026-01-20 17:53
"It sucks cause these limited theatrical releases never get shown where I live so I always have to wait for the streaming. I'm not a that big of a fan of this series though, so it's not as big a deal this time."
Says the same thing without sounding like an ass.
awesomenessofme12026-01-20 18:13
I mean, almost none of that would actually be true. This is the first time that this kind of limited distribution of a movie has affected me, and I *am* a huge fan of the series, but literally no anime would be worth a twelve-hour experience.
metadun2026-01-20 17:37
Even by anime standards this is super limited. I thought the Dragon Maid theatrical release recently was poorly done but at least that was in ~250 theaters.
PlainSweater2026-01-20 18:59
At least it has two days, though. Dragon maid was only available for a single day
metadun2026-01-20 19:10
Well one day is sub and the other is dub, so if you have a strong preference between the two it might as well be one day. Regardless, I'd rather see one day at a couple hundred theaters around the country over two days at only ten theaters. Doesn't really matter how long it's showing if you're looking at impractical travel distances to even get there.
thalefteye2026-01-21 00:06
It was poorly, the amc theater close to had it on their app and it wouldn’t let me get a ticket. Then the very day of the movie it disappeared from the app. I guess someone messed up on paperwork somewhere 🤷.
dagreenman182026-01-20 17:41
… it wouldn’t be *that* crazy to fly to another city to watch this right? Round trip is only 100 bucks.
darkmacgf2026-01-20 20:24
For a recap movie that's pretty crazy.
dagreenman182026-01-20 20:31
It’s not *entirely* a recap movie, but yes mostly
okiioppai2026-01-20 17:48
Is it bad to go watch it as a grown man?
Shadow_Ass2026-01-20 23:53
Gotta make my wife come with me. It could be weird seeing a grown ass man alone watching this lmao
okiioppai2026-01-20 23:55
can I hmmmm maybe tag along? LOL. It will be like you won't even know I am there. Just like you, I just want to cheer on Ichikawa and Yamada lol

[HIDIVE: List of US theatres](https://news.hidive.com/2026/1/20/don-t-miss-the-dangers-in-my-heart-movie-in-theaters-this-february)
I guess they made a deal with Cinemark locations. Shitty for me, the only one in the Chicago area is out in Melrose Park.
tripleaamin2026-01-20 19:20
Here Id have to take the train then take the subway to see the one in NY. 90 min commute I’m torn about it. I guess it depends on the time of the showing.
eightcheesepizza2026-01-20 19:29
Same here but not with public transit, I'd have to use a rideshare or something. I'm currently trying to convince myself that the theater experience will be disappointing.
tripleaamin2026-01-21 04:34
I plan to buy a ticket and probably wait to hear how Japanese reception of the movie is. May or may not cancel depending on that.
HornedTurtle12122026-01-21 03:45
Well Philadelphia is only like a 7 hour drive each way for me, lol.
Gil_Demoono2026-01-20 19:27
*10 theaters!?* woof. I know its mostly a compilation movie, but surely we can do a little better than that?
AnokataX2026-01-20 21:46
> mostly a compilation movie
Oh, damn, I didn't know that. Definitely lowers my interest to watch in theaters now unfortunately.
ClemFire2026-01-20 20:58
Okay this is more limited than I expected. I live in a major city and the closest theater would be in NYC
eightcheesepizza2026-01-20 21:31
The real problem: Kensuke Ushio's punchy piano is too dangerous for theater sound systems, and has been outlawed in 35 states.
This is a more understandable reason than HiDive not believing that Dangers can fill theaters.
PendragonDaGreat2026-01-20 21:08
At least the one theater in Washington (Federal Way) is situated halfway between the largest (Seattle) and third largest (Tacoma) cities in the state. It's slightly closer to Tacoma, though Seattle folks will have it a bit better because the light rail goes from downtown to about 2 blocks from the theater.
I'll be out of town for the subbed one, might try to catch the dub though.
mastesargent2026-01-20 21:53
Yeah but it sucks if you live too far outside those cities. I don’t really want to drive all the way down there from Bellingham. And RIP anyone that lives in eastern WA.
PendragonDaGreat2026-01-20 22:03
Oh absolutely, I'm not saying it's a great distribution, but renting a theater ain't cheap so it's a matter of finding the best balance which I think they came pretty close to, if I had to choose just one theater in Washington I would absolutely aim for Federal Way or Southcenter. And yes RIP to those on the dry side of the mountains.
thisisfakediy2026-01-21 12:05
Could be worse… my nearest theater is 350 miles away, in another state and time zone.
MegaAltarianite2026-01-20 18:34
Hidive, a streaming service owned by Sentai Filmworks, which is based in Houston, Texas, is a company not aware of how large the United States is.
cleetus762026-01-20 19:41
Sure they are, it's Texas and some other states.
1000-MAT2026-01-20 18:41
Everyone's complaining that it's not premiering in their city, meanwhile I'm sure it won't premiere on my continent either, I hate HIDIVE.
vpi62026-01-20 19:13
Isn’t this a compilation film? It’s shocking those get released at all in theaters.
tripleaamin2026-01-20 19:16
Bocchi got a release here combining both parts of the compilation film.
dagreenman182026-01-20 20:32
It’s like 75% compilation, but apparently it’s the new stuff that will make it worth the watch.
jimmysofat68642026-01-23 01:45
Yea that's why I'm torn on going or not. I I kinda don't want to travel 4 hours round trip just to see maybe 20-30 minutes of new content. If it was like a continuation instead of rehashing the old story it would have made it much more worth it.
CommanderZx22026-01-20 22:02
Compilation films often have new scenes so they're worth watching.
stickdudeseven2026-01-20 20:25
The dangers in my wallet if I choose to make the trip to watch this at the closest showing.
Ryboiii2026-01-20 20:33
Man only one day for subtitled showings and its an hour from me
IntroductionRare52712026-01-20 21:04
Probably the worst romcom I've seen lately. The characters are honest with their emotions, act their age, and it has solid character development as well as a fun cast of side characters.
Just awful, I wanted seasons of will they/won't they with no meaningful progress and repetitive gags, when will writers learn?
PendragonDaGreat2026-01-20 21:11
Had me in the first half not gonna lie.
SoccerForEveryone2026-01-20 21:15
I contacted HiDive and they said the best chance right now is to contact Sentai about more showings. I did my part; for anyone else in Florida please at least try messaging them, anything helps!
Nearest theater is 3 hours away. I'm strongly debating the day trip.
foxbase2026-01-20 22:23
I'm not emotionally ready
OMG it's showing near me. At a theater in the middle of nowhere but i'll take it /shrug
ahmong2026-01-21 01:58
This just reminded me I have a hidive sub. Last time I logged into was 2-3 years ago lol
SilentProductionsHD2026-01-21 03:27
FINALLY!! And it's coming to New York!
Nytloc2026-01-21 03:32
So disappointing. I was expecting to see this two or three times and had already asked off the weekend of in the hopes we’d get it on Valentine’s. I don’t even know how it’s worth it to do this for two showings in terms of advertising and such.
Webknight312026-01-21 14:54
That's a very limited release they're going for.
Forsaken-Argument8022026-01-21 15:06
They can't afford to make a functioning app, how are they screening films?
Commentaires
No theaters near me show any anime films.
