So dreamy...This movie will always be unforgettable to me.

I'm beyond glad I could experience this in a cinema. I honestly regret not watching it a second time.

I regret not watching it a third time

Absolute music and cinema moment. Kensuke Ushio with piano is a different beast. I love that piano ost that he made for Koe no Katachi's ending.
lactatingRHINO72026-01-20 18:01
A fantastic sequence. Kensuke Ushio's work on this movie is unreal. I love when a film let's the score drive the story for a bit
MyNameIs-Anthony2026-01-22 00:41
Insane run he has been on. The Colors Within the year before was one of my all-time favorite soundtracks.
pawarsaheb2026-01-26 07:59
Which studio made this movie ?
Haha91haha2026-01-26 15:34
Mappa. Same people who worked on CSM season 1, JJK, Hell's Paradise, Zombieland Saga and more.
Roboglenn2026-01-20 18:04
And then all hell breaks loose...

I've watched this scene atleast 50 times, there's something it makes me feel that i can't express with words
DireSickFish2026-01-20 18:58
Truth is.... I've never gone to school either.
kalirion2026-01-20 19:10
Festivals aren't typically "slow eves". Though I guess in CSM they would be.

the chainsaw man movie deposed FMA:B from the second place on mal to the third, overtaking it by .01 points. i'm not sure that's not recency bias; i'm not sure it's deserved. but holy fuck did they cook when they were making it.
Sahtras19922026-01-21 13:02
also fma:b gets upvote spammed all the time too.
Organic-Habit-30862026-01-20 20:04
This was about 3 panels in the manga I believe, or maybe a bit more. It wasn't long but it easily conveyed this dream-like quality present here. Even Ushio's score is reminiscent of what I was thinking of back when I read it the first time.
TiredofyourBSyo2026-01-20 20:13
What a fantastic movie. That piano score during the swimming scene was transcendent. Such a wonderful slow burn to the mother of all climaxes. and the ending........perfection.
LusshLolli2026-01-20 20:52
i didn't read the manga, but i read several articles about how they create a great movie from one of the manga arc less interesting and create a very good movie, as many people say, unforgettable, not sure if that's true (regarding the manga Arc) but sharing the info, maybe someone is reading the manga and can share they opinion
brasstax1082026-01-20 21:26
Yes, great directors can elevate the source material and make something exceptional what otherwise would've been a merely decent adaptation.
dalzmc2026-01-20 23:02
It’s not that it was necessarily less interesting to me but it uh, reverse “stood out” relative to the sheer *intensity* of basically everything that follows.. especially cuz I binged it all when all of part 1 was out. As much as I still enjoyed it, when I was done reading, it wasn’t the arc that was weighing on my mind, that’s all.
MickeyLALA2026-01-21 03:35
The arc was already really good in the manga imo. The Reze arc is where chainsawman really picked up for me as a compelling story and the story up to what S1 covered felt more just like an introduction. That being said the movie was beautiful and definitely still elevated it.
TMNAW2026-01-21 05:30
I mean, the movie is very faithful to the manga. There weren't that many changes at all. The movie is great, but that's partially because it's a strong adaptation of great material.
Wh1teSnak2026-01-21 10:06
It was always good but I bet if you ask manga fans prior to the movie about their favorite arc most would choose one of the 3 next arcs not the Reze arc. They definitely elevated the source a lot with the movie.
Zerg0062026-01-20 20:58
I've said this multiple times and I'll keep saying it; the festival is my favorite scene by far. This piece makes the entire sequence feel like a dream; from how everything is slightly blurry, slowed down, and out of focus, to the multiple POV shots of Denji watching Reze, to how no one else has a face except for them. Just like a dream, the extraneous details don't matter; the people don't matter, the stalls don't matter, all that matters to him is Reze. You see them get to experience a real teenage date for the first time. Food stalls, goldfish catching, cotton candy. You get the feeling of a teenager realizing that they're falling in love with someone for the first time, not just lusting after them. And then it ends with Denji and this look of awe on his face that says "is this real/this can't be happening/am I dreaming" as he's lead through the crowd by Reze, this girl that he's only recently met, and yet has completely fallen for. And everyone that's been on a teenage date knows exactly how Denji feels at that moment. The song perfectly encapsulates the feeling of teenage love and not wanting this brief, fleeting moment in time to end.
This one night where the two of them got to experience a normal, teenage date, and Reze got to dream of the possibilities.
PSN-Angryjackal2026-01-20 21:50
It aint just teenage dates... happens even as adults as well.
Zerg0062026-01-20 22:32

I love this scene. It reminds me of Chungking Express and its motion blur.
CakeSlapping2026-01-20 22:43
I've not seen it mentioned often, but this is almost certainly an homage to the legendary Hong Kong filmmaker Wong Kar-wai's ethereally beautiful romance films.
One of the best scenes of the Reze film imo
Mr-Tacos-de-Bistec2026-01-21 00:02
You’re not the only one.
I also can see that it was inspired by Wong Kar-Wai.

A lot of people mention the pool scene when talking about the movie, but this part was what marked me the most.
The soft colors, the cinematography, the slow shutter, it all feels like a warm nostalgic moment
LappoBappo2026-01-21 00:39
best film experience I’ve had in a long long timeZ

One of the best movies with slow burn yet so fast like a firework

But muh season 1 cinematic!!1!1!
MrModsMusic2026-01-21 03:58
Saw it in theaters with the fam. Loved every moment of it. Honestly anime/manga never fails to impress me with the creativity of the characters abilities. Reze was frickin awesome.
yehiso2026-01-21 04:50
This is hauntingly beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time.
JoelMahon2026-01-21 10:24
lots of people said they don't think 3D CG was used for the bg characters at all during this scene, personally I can't not see it.
with the clip in front of their faces does anyone still want to say no 3D CG was used?
FWIW I'm not against it, the movie doesn't have infinite budget, by saving some money on faceless bgs we get more money to spend on explosions.
Budget-One65372026-01-21 12:39
Watching this movie for the first time without having read the source material was amazing.
Seen the movie twice.
