I'll be honest, I'm usually the annoying picky type that points out the one imperfection I see in anime that everyone else likes, but for this one, I'm honestly speechless. Usually, most romance animes suffer from reoccurring problems that take away from the quality of the story such as harems (like the 100 girlfriends), love triangles (like Blue Box), and characters basically never confessing to keep farming the expectation from the viewers/readers that they might actually communicate like normal human beings (my god rent a girlfriend was a torture to watch). But this anime was honestly perfect, and I have nothing to criticize here. All the characters communicated about every problem or misunderstanding they have had with each other. Every character is very dynamic, alive, and feel like they have depth to them as well as real place in the story. The relationship between each character is realistic and feel very genuine. The general messages that apply outside of the main romance trope are also very real and very well written, such as concepts like not judging someone by there titles or positions but instead by who they are, or the consideration and boundaries of the communication about the relationship of two members within a single friend group. These types of messages are very impressive to be incorporated into this type of anime when compared with others in which this is the main focus and goal of the work.

When \[Major Event Spoiler in Episode 12\] >!Rintaro Confessed to Waguri!<, the anime instantly became my #1 favorite anime, right up there with A Silent Voice, my now #2 favorite anime, and Solo Leveling. The progression in the episode after it was honestly pristinely done; I had no idea how the author might actually write this well enough to break the awkwardness and tension between the characters afterwards, but it felt so natural and the characters communicated so well. I absolutely love how each character, ESPECIALLY Waguri, listens fully and waits patiently until the other person completely finishes talking, then stays silent for a few moments to consider her response, and then says her thoughts, which honestly makes her feel so much more genuine and considerate, and is something I need to learn to do better myself, as it can be such a good skill. Finally, the visuals are obviously fantastic and the music is top notch. The opening to the anime is now my wallpaper, and I plan to keep it that way for a while. This is the only anime that actually made me want to read the manga afterwards out of pure anticipation of what happens next. I really hope the anime wins romance anime of the year, as it definitely deserves it. I can't wait to read more works by Saka Mikami and watch more pieces by CloverWorks. The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity is the Best Anime!
