Not surprised when everyone was still using candles in the dark, light bulbs clearly exist there.
Projectors, tracksuits, telephones, colour photography and LED wands also exist.
Maybe Klaus was a cheapskate with electricity, the staff can add that to his list of offences.
Lot of shady stuff going on.
Not only was Mr. Klaus Reinweiß involved with possibly killing innocent people in order to revive his dead wife, he was pimping out his maids on the side to his "guests."
Im interested to see what the role of vampires are in the case. Arne must've known Lynn's mother since he remembered her locket in a previous episode, and now we have "Nachzehrer" another vampire thrown into the mix.
Things are starting to get a bit interesting.
Maybe in the end, every single one did him in, similar to Murder on the Orient Express (we did get a Poirot shout-out, after all). Only that they didn't know about each other, I guess (I never read the book, and it's been a while since I saw the 70s movie, but I *think* at least in the movie, they're cueing up at the door to stab him?)

I thought this was going to go differently though, I was expecting each of the servants to die one by one. Like Lynn's father might have been saving their bodies for last sort of thing.
I do wonder if we will figure out the accomplice and if it's even anyone in the household within an episode OR if they will set out on a journey to find the accomplice while solving smaller mysteries on the way.
Again, this is a proper German proverb, yeah
The word Nachzehrer is not really used or known anymore nowadays. It has been subsumed by Vampir
Nowadays, the most common use of the word, however, is to describe not a pure hex-code FFFFFF white, but a specific warm-ish white tone. Specially, Reinweiß is the name of [RAL 9010](https://www.ralfarbpalette.de/ral-9010.png).
(RAL is a color management system similar to Pantone, only that Pantone is USian, and RAL is German. You'll find RAL used in building design and architecture, for example: when you visit a hardware store, you will find RAL color numbers on stuff like outlet covers, light switches, etc. so that you can buy ones that fit the ones you already have)
Lots of shady goings-on in that house, oh to be a fly on the wall,
We know that further down the line Lynn is off having adventures with Arne without any of these people in sight, so I've been wondering how many of them will also die. Hopefully the maids don't get turned into the stitched together necromancer zombie lady, but she has to come from somewhere.
Well the moment I found out what the Klaus was having Elise do, I was like "Yup, someone on the staff killed him." Heck maybe they're all in on it. If they just didn't like the old master because he was mentally sick but were innocent, they should still at least be worrying if the reduced headcount means reduced need for a large staff.
What is the setting supposed to even be? the first episode I placed this firmly in Victorian times. While various forms of projectors existed, the one previously shown appears to be invented in the 1910s. But Lynn is wearing a tracksuit that could be made in the 60s at the earliest (yes I know there were earlier tracksuits, but they aren't made of the same stuff modern materials are and they don't "move" with the body modern ones do). The Zipper alone is post Victorian from the 10s. The telephone is a style outdated by that time. And apparently they see things with candle light. After episode 2 I thought Lynn joining Arne led to a modern girl traveling to a different dimension where technology was backward but this clearly isn't the case. Easiest explanation I can think of is Klaus is cheap and everyone else is just poor. In rural England in the 1950s, depending on what town you went you could see technology up to the 1950s... or those living like Victorian times, or in some rare cases see people living like they did when England was its own kingdom since not only electrification did not reach the poorest communities, but neither did cars or any other signs of modernity. Kalus can afford modern stuff but is too cheap to pay the electric bill and everyone else (even the servants and the whole town we saw earlier) are all just poor.
Also, have you ever babysat a young child. The way they disappear into stuff and get into spaces you never think they would. It is actually a useful thing.
The first episode should have been a massive indicator of what kind of effort they'll put into the show. Not enough time is given to these stories. It all feels rushed.
