It could be **"Karin"** (also known as "Chibi Vampire," 2005-2006)! It's about a vampire girl who attends a human school and tries to hide her vampire identity. The series deals with vampires trying to coexist with humans.

Or perhaps, **"Rosario + Vampire"** (2008), which is about a human boy who accidentally enrolls in a school for monsters, and the main character Moka is a vampire who hides her true identity. There are definitely scenes involving her protecting friends and revealing her vampire nature.

It could also be **"Blood+"** (2005-2006) or **"Trinity Blood"** (2005), both of which involve vampires and humans, though these are darker and more action-focused.

Do you remember:
- Was it more of a comedy/slice-of-life or darker/action series?
- What the art style was like (cute/chibi or more serious/realistic)?
- The hair color of the main vampire character?
- Approximately when you watched it?

I watched it more then 10+ years ago i can’t remember the main character hair color and if memory serves me correctly it’s slice of life

Another possibility is **"My Monster Secret"** (Jitsu wa Watashi wa, 2015), which is a romantic comedy about a vampire girl trying to hide her identity at school. It's a romantic comedy slice-of-life about a vampire girl named Youko Shiragami who tries to hide her vampire identity while attending a human school. The series has exactly the kind of scene you're describing where her secret gets revealed through protective actions.

* Were there romantic elements between the vampire and her friend?
