So, in other words, the streaming release is still a very long ways away.

Sgt_General2026-01-21 11:37

On the bright side, I still need to watch the last arc before I catch the movie when it's available to stream, and this helps me to fit in all the good anime that's been coming out.

God I could not care less about that arc. Characterization doesn't matter to me if I'm not going to hear about it again later on. Dropped it after 3 episodes and watched the last one.

Objective_Ranger10052026-01-21 15:50

Exactly. Ill get down voted but I really dont care. It doesnt add anything legit and I only have so much time in the day to myself so if I can trim off fat with still getting the main portion of whats needed Im alright with that.
For some reason people think you need to watch every single episode of shows filler or not and that is not the case lol

Plodomin-_2026-01-24 08:35

Are you ultra fucking dumb, last arc is not filler, its literally in the manga

Darw929292026-01-26 18:22

On the bright side for you only, we’re all still waiting. I made the mistake of not going to see it during the limited run in cinema for my country. Tried streaming but it was poor quality, waiting for crunchyroll. At least I have season 3 of JJK to tide me over.

Slow-Boysenberry31502026-01-21 08:53

I watched it in 4DX. Man, it was an experience.

MrModsMusic2026-01-21 09:24

Never tried 4DX before but after doing a quick google search on what it is, THAT sounds frickin amazing and I absolutely need to try it now.

fieew2026-01-21 12:16

My biggest advice wear pants with decent pockets or that have a zipper. I work some athletic shorts and my phone and wallet kept falling out of my shorts. That was my own fault but other than that it was super fun.

IrDan2026-01-21 16:25

Also don’t bother with food/drinks. Learned my lesson.

Drumbas2026-01-21 20:27

As someone that used to work at a cinema, please for the love of god don't bring anything food related to the 4DX room. The cleanup is ALWAYS a nightmare.

MrModsMusic2026-01-22 00:14

I can see that happening. My phone tends to slide out of my pocket even when I’m sitting still, so I’ll definitely come prepared.

XX-Burner2026-01-21 16:38

I tried it for the first time for this movie and it… wasn’t great. The water spraying in my eyes got so obnoxious, I don’t know if had the most direct angle or what (back middle) but I swear it would hit me right in the eyes every time there was a water style moves lol. Definitely caused me to miss a thing or two while rubbing my eyes.

My friend also had trouble keeping up with the subtitles during some of the rollercoasting but that wasn’t a problem for me.

YMMV but at least I got to try it and know it’s not for me going forward

MrModsMusic2026-01-22 00:18

Your story had me dying more than it should have. 😂
That does sound pretty obnoxious. I think I still wanna try it, just to see how it goes, but at least I have a better idea of what to expect now. Hopefully your situation isn’t something that happens every time, lol.

Wilmaso2026-01-22 02:52

You can actually turn the water off. They have buttons on the chairs for different things.

XX-Burner2026-01-22 03:17

My theater had no such thing. Did the water come from the chair in your theater?

Wilmaso2026-01-27 19:15

No it did not

EXTPest2026-01-21 09:15

Gotta milk this until the 2nd movie drops

summerofrain2026-01-21 14:47

Getting an anime movie in IMAX is a W and sets that up for future releases though.

Positive_Step29602026-01-22 16:07

why not, its a masterpiece

worried_alligator2026-01-21 12:31

I watched the movie twice in the theater here in Japan, after this announcement is it worth going again for a third time? It's only expanded vertical footage?

Coolene2026-01-21 18:23

If your IMAX theater is capable of projecting 1.43:1 AR (which is rare, even more so digitally than IMAX 70mm) then it would absolutely be worth it, especially a film with great visuals as Infinity Castle.

intuitiveauthority2026-01-26 20:48

I guess it depends on how much you liked it. I saw it 12 times.

entelechtual2026-01-21 12:59

Cool that it’s in IMAX. But… is that really making history in a noteworthy sense.

liatris44052026-01-21 13:30

Well, calling it ‘historic’ might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it *is* the first anime ever presented in full-size IMAX.

ChickenPlunger2026-01-21 14:28

First 1.43:1 animated movie for IMAX GT auditoriums

dhui19962026-01-21 17:02

Lightyear has select sequences in 1.43:1, but in terms of anime, yes this is first

uiovoiu2026-01-21 13:17

I watched in in IMAX. It was awesome. Can't recommend it enough.

sudoku_gosu2026-01-21 13:31

Sony really wants this 40 billion yen threshold to be cleared

fredws2026-01-21 13:57

And somehow the fucking kpop thing won the golden something award without a second in theater. How funny

MenardiParty2026-01-21 14:27

That's not quite correct. It was in theaters for a weekend, and I think even a second weekend later. Very limited, but it was sold out pretty much everywhere.

94Temimi2026-01-21 15:06

Going after Mugen Train's record. It's less than ¥1.7B Yen away so this is going to be the final push before it has its digital release

Wilmaso2026-01-21 18:32

They're gonna release it globally again in full Imax before that.

94Temimi2026-01-21 20:25

Most likely the movie is also close to crossing $800M WW. Last update I saw in December it passed $780M but that wasn't official, just others tracking it.

eksnoblade2026-01-21 15:41

Holy shit release the god damn blue ray already. Just let us stream it.

I'd much rather watch it on a pirate site out of spite at this point.

Edit: Watched it. Man. This anime has a really big problem with mid fight flash backs and trying to make you feel sympathy for enemies. The constant pushing characters to their limits shtick is tiring too.

electricalserge2026-01-21 15:53

Ahoy there matey! Considering that the hd version somehow got leaked and is everywhere on numerous pirated sites, go ahead.

I absolutely will. I need to find a new go to place though. The old one is probably gone.

mustang83102026-01-21 22:44

Have you heard word of any sites with dub?

EuclaseBlue2026-01-21 23:07

At least the last time I checked, the so-called HD leak that's been posted everywhere was still just a cleaned up cam rip, if it's the one with hardcoded English subtitles, unless a new source has been shared.

war_story_guy2026-01-21 16:26

Title makes it sound like it just cured cancer when in reality its just getting a different aspect ratio. Love the sensationalism.

Wilmaso2026-01-21 18:28

In japan only?? Dayum. I was already looking for tickets in Lincoln SQ

dhui19962026-01-21 22:01

It will likely be released globally in the months to come

LuRo3322026-01-22 01:48

And why exactly couldnt they release it in this aspect ratio months ago? Feels like the OG IMAX screening got the image cropped on purpose so they can re-sell it again later. I know they are absolutely shameless in the way they milk this IP but this is next level bullshit…
