You and I Are Polar Opposites = The Next My Dress-Up Darling
I am absolutely loving this show. Even though it’s just 2 episodes of the show so far, I really believe that it could be in the same conversation with My Dress-Up Darling of how good it is. Not to mention that they remind me of each other. Outgoing girl and shy/quiet guy romance; very humorous. I may end up doing the same as I did with My Dress-Up Darling and start reading the manga ahead of time; although, I’m trying to hold out.

I am excited to see more of the side cast too as that part of Dress Up really made its themes stand out and I’m curious if the same will ring true for Polar Opposites.
Anyways I get such a warm feeling watching the show which is a big reason why I love romance, and highly recommend it to any enjoyer of the genre.
And with how bad the last half of My Dress Up Darling was you really don’t want it to end with an arc that dragged far too long and then a rushed ending
1. My Dress-Up Darling (MDUD), the anime, hasn't ended yet. From my, admittedly pedantic, perspective, MDUD has to first end or at least significantly diminish in importance before anything else can claim to be a successor/„the next MDUD”.
2. Marin is, for lack of a better word, hotter => MDUD will be more popular.
3. The whole cosplay/hobby and anime/otaku culture in MDUD adds more aspects that people can grab onto besides just the romance aspect => MDUD will be more popular.
Don't get me wrong, based on its first two episodes I think that You and I Are Polar Opposites is a good, above average romance, but so far it's nowhere near MDUD, it lacks the something extra that MDUD has (like point 3.).
I feel that better comparisons would be other fluffy romances like The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten, The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, Kubo-san, Takagi-san, etc.
Everyone loathe to say it out loud but : Marin is like three levels hotter than Miyu. It matters.
Also airing it just a few months of Dress Up S2 will mean inevitable comparison.
* Marin (MDUD) is outgoing because she’s outgoing and she’s a cosplayer. Whereas Suzuki is outgoing because she has a chronic need to fit in and be liked. Their personalities are different, I think.
* Tani is quiet it seems like because he just doesn’t want to say more than is necessary whereas Gojo is quiet because he was laughed at for his interests and passions and I think that’s different than Tani.
* Polar Opposites definitely leans more on outward humor vs MDUD uses more subtle humor. There is also the fan service, Marin is intentionally really attractive for the fan service, Suzuki is cute personality wise, but physically she’s a bit more average.
both stories are really cute though and the romances are wholesome. The personalities are pretty different, but both girls are very likable. The one thing I’ll say about Polar Opposites that it has over MDUD is that the relationship happened right away.
